Fuzzy1981's Fox Farm Ocean Forrest Northern Lights 2019

Fuzzy, sorry but I can't advise on anything ph related. I left my ph up/down behind a long time ago and have not looked back. That is one of the really great things about the kit. My first advice was to save the kit nutes until you have kit soil to use it with but you still wanted to go forward so maybe treat your soil as if it was kit soil, no ph correction to soil or water and see how it goes. If the plants struggle, then go back to corecting.

sounds like good sound advice. from what i have learned so far, is that by doing things this way the worst that could happen is nutrient lockout. which i think can be solved by a simple p.h. balance (but i might be wrong). honestly cabin fever is kicking in now. and im just looking for something to focus myself on.

Usually a big tub, sprinkler system, air pumps and stuff like that. My experience was with a recirculated system that pulled water from a tub and kept the roots wet and then drained back into the tank. I haven’t kept up with the terminology so I’m not quite sure which system that is. Lol
do you get back what you put into a hydro system?

When I worked hydro it was a commercial scale operation. So cost was never MY problem, lol. Some people did well. My home grows have always been soil.

Hydro when done right is faster. Like I touched on earlier, it’s fairly automated once dialed in. If something bad happens to you water source, you can lose a whole line of plants if not discovered and that sucks. Soil is definitely more forgiving to newbies, but requires individual attention in most cases.
I like getting dirty so soil appeals to my biases.

day 56 still looking great after the first soil drench, in fact i had to move the lights up again today. i just did that about 4 days ago. they are now past the half way point in the grow tent. thankfully i have the new gorrilla tent which is taller. i do believe im going to be switching the light schedule at the end of next week.

I was going to mention that as well.

What I do as they’re becoming adults is strip the bottom 1/3 of everything minus main branches. This will allow great airflow underneath and help prevent mold and other issues. I personally like a nice bushy top but as you look into this more you’ll notice some people like to strip theirs pretty bare. Using my fingernails, I pinch off water leaves at the stem that are blocking more light than I want them to and anything at the bottom. Any leaf that looks half way yellow goes, anything that is growing in a way that obviously will just wilt and die later, goes.

It seemed counterintuitive to me at first but your girls will pay you back for the love.

I am guilty of being too handsy that's for sure! I've got one NL that is just in transition and she's filling in. I kept her pretty bare till she got her shape, then I stripped her a couple more times as she gained height.

I had some issues in my first grow of Sour OG that I don't want to revisit. Good airflow and thinning out under the canopy is a must for my plants. You can actually accelerate growth by doing some light defol. Although those big fans make a lot of food, they take food too.

A couple few here and a couple few there. Start with tucking the leaves if you're not ready to clip them yet.

day 57 going to do a straight watering tonight, starting to get a little droopy. not going to ph the water either. hopefully if we don't get anymore snow, saturday i will set up the new grow tent, and take some of the leaves off. i put in the new secret jardin monkey fans. the leaves were growing into the other one. also my northern lights is just starting to show that she's female. i'll put that pic up first.

Unless your PH is screamingg out of control you’ll prolly br fine. Check your run off the first time, just for kicks.
yeah weenmeoff said with doc buds nutes not to p.h. adjust, it should do it on it's own. although i am growing in fox farm soil instead of having cooked my own soil so it's a bit of an experiment. worst case scenario i get nutrient lock out and then back to ph'ing.

yeah, im going to do this either tommorow or saturday. we got hit with another foot of snow today, so i had to spend a few hours outside snowblowing. then grocery shopping, and then me and my wife had to trim the dogs nails, which left me with about 15 minutes to water them before the lights shut off. tommorow i have to bust off another ice dam from the roof on the other side of the house, and a foliar feeding. if i have time before work i'll trim up the plant then. if not hopefully saturday, but they say there is another snow storm moving in then so who knows. im hoping it doesn't hit cause im still waiting to set up my new gorilla grow tent. this damn snow is making it almost impossible to get anything done. my snow banks are so high my snow blower wont throw the snow over the top of them any more. ugh.. only two to three more months of this crap to go and it will be spring, hopefully.

Hmmm, not sure exactly where but the mountains around here just got dusted big time. FAF out there, had some friends in Temecula who got snow, but I wouldn't be surprised if they got snow in Beaumont too. Still bout and hour or so from me heading West.
