Funny First Grow Outdoor/Balcony OG Kush + Grape Ape

Growheart!! thanks man! yea i always peek at other peopls sig if they got their first grow goin and whatnot and yea i noticed yourc changed a few times haha and i saved the plant abuse chart to my shortcuts :thankyou:

ive read the common newbie mistakes as well!! i remember this one though from when i first came thru to 420mag haha good stuff. i learn a lot here man and thanks to you too Growheart!

ohh btw my girls are still growing! they havent been locked out of any nutrients i dont think.... however today i think ima flush them out with plain tap.... i only let the tap sit out for like 5-10 minutes and kinda pour it into another empty bottle again and again..... does that help? my kitchen tap comes out all bubbly too so i guess its more oxygenized or w.e......

im off to get some veg nutes today then! Grow im gona look for the ones you have mate! i was gona go yesterday but they closed early........ :peacetwo:

Yeah I guess a 1/3 flush is better than no flush, but you gotta be careful with them salt buildups from the unused nutes, especially with the MG stronger stuff... As long as your soil is properly packed down & consistent, the plants will love it, here is a quote from the Jorge Cervantes Grow Basics which I have been referencing from even before I started, from his articles in magazines.

"Plants will need to be flushed at the
end of the vegetative growth stage
and possibly once in between after
three weeks. I like to flush plants with
three times the amount of weak
fertilizer solution as the amount of
soil or soilless mix in the container.
This will flush or leach out all the
extra built up toxic fertilizer salts
in the growing medium. "

Nutrient buildup is something you want to prevent before it happens, much easier than trying to correct afterwards ;) I'm just basing this on what I've read, and its worked for me so far as :thumb:

Either way it looks like you picked up some good stuff, and good stuff with the stretching too, keep those nodes nice and tight! I may have aleady asked you this ( :lot-o-toke::bongrip::ganjamon: ) , but are you going to start LST soon ? Get those ladies nice and bushy-like :) I regret not doing it more myself this grow.

Hey Growheart,

my damn arm was hurting from trying to pour a freakin gallon into those small 6in pots slowly..... i tried poking holes on some of my gallon caps but thats just a pain to sit there and let freakin 3 gallons trickle. i got annoyed too..... i got even more annoyed when my ladies started droopin..... haha but they all seem fine now i guess..... i noticed crisps... on the lower leaves, and some yellowing and browning tips on the upper fan leaves a couple nodes before fresh growth.......

i cant really be spending money on those sprinkler buckets or anything....... but mabe i should...... its such a pain.

they were all lookin a little like this just 2 minutes after i poured a gallon thru em. they reacted so quick dude.....

and the yqllowing and browning....

33893_1434411349316_1503914826_30894089_2046189_n.jpg

nute burn severing? shouldnt be too much of a problem right? even the crispy ones?

i dont think im going to LST all 5 of my plants, but i think ill do it to a few plants to see how things go.
however.... i did top IH#0-3 last night along with the semi-flush...... i dont think ima top #4.... cos i wana see how shell grow with just one cola. (hoping shes fem)

i cut one top off with scissors and the other 3 i just pinched them off...... felt kinda bad thought i was gona kill em haha had the thought of choppin their head off.....weird......
All 4 topped somewhat look like this...

so..... those shoots directly next to the node i cut off is supposed to shoot up or the ones directly underneath.... i saw pictures... i seenem go both ways.... i didnt fim. i was just scared to try. maybe ill try it with my next batch or sumn....

i think i will water with plain tap again once more to just be on the safe side and let more runoff thru with unused nutes....

oh yea..... there are these lilttle leaves growin from under the cotyledon....... is that normal?

i was like BALLS!!?
but no.... haha

i think i will transplant them all in 3 gallon smart pots in a few days hopefully when my tent comes thru...... these things are damn near 5 bucks each at the hydro shop...... i think i messed up and bought 3 cos.... if i ordered em online theyre like 3.50 a pop..... sigh..... but then again theres shipping..... tax..... this hydro shop i went to didnt tax me...... he gave me 3 smart pots and the FF growbig nute bottle for like $29

thanks Grow..... youre too damn helpful! btw.... quick rundown on this +rep thing?

:peacetwo:

If your really concerned with the nute burn, then you should switch to an organic fert instead of that grow big. Whie some growers simply prefer organic for smoking reasons, I prefer it because its very difficult to burn the leaves with organic ferts if used in accordance with a nutrient chart.

Big Bloom is the only organic fert from Fox Farm but its only a supplement. Check your local hydro or online for organics if you want to make it easier on yourself. Just a suggestion.

:goodluck:

what it do herbsnbuds!

thanks for comin thru mate!

doesnt organic mean more $$$? if its going to be better for my crops in the future then i will switch over to organic nutes. considering nute burn, if i see continuous spread, then i will stop using the growbig as well, but i have to try different methods first. i will eventually end up with all organic in the near future..... hopefully......

ill go easy on the growbig for a couple feedings and follow some nute charts with it as well. i will update results as i do this. thanks for stoppin by again mate!

Hey FunnyStyle if you want a cheap homemade water can that has holes, just use my ghetto can solution:

watercan.jpg

Just poke a bunch of holes in cap, cut a triangle on side for the air to escape, I used duct tape as a lid for the triangle for storage purposes. It waters nice and even, is easy to hold / pour with.

Also for watering / flushing tips - do as many as you have space for at once. Fill a pot to the edge, let it soak, on to the next. Keep doing that in rotation by the time one has soaked up the water its ready for more.

Flushing is definitely a HUGE pain bro, I feel ya. When I had 9 2 gal containers, and flushed before flowering, it took me over 2 hours and I was literally sore afterwards hahaha. One of the main reasons for my limited space, I'll be looking to hydro for the next time ;)

Looking good, I hear ya about the topping / fimming, was also scared to try any of these techniques my first time. Your leaf tips don't look too bad, as long as its just a few dime-sized burns not a big deal. I bet it was that MG. Fox farms seems like a good brand, a lot of people on here use it.

Oh and the +rep thing, to give someone +reps look at the bottom left of their post, there is a online/offline icon, the scale, and a report this post sign, the scale is the +rep system, just click that it brings up a dialog box. You can only +rep someone so many times in a row without spreadin it around.

Glad to help man, you have given me solid advice as well so happy to return the favor. Getting our thanksgiving feast ready for tomorrow - too bad 'harvest time' is still probably 1 month away! patience is probably the hardest part of the grow for me... especially now that they are flowering!

The flush is good man, the flush saves all! Just going to do a quick update over on the ladies @ my thread, did some mad construction / planning today.

:surf::peacetwo::thankyou:

As far as the organic... my nutes were $20 bucks for Pro Grow organic, $20 for Pro Bloom organic, and $20 for Fox Farm Big Bloom organic as a supplement...

so price doesn't change much but its VERY hard to nute burn with all organic. You could practically soak the leaves in the Fox Farm Big Bloom and they'll still be as green as can be...

Just thought I'd share, and yeah, your dog apparently likes bud as much as my cats do. My male cat will literally tear open a bag and devour the whole thing if left unattended. He's pretty lazy after that too... lol

I jest :)

you just need to keep him away from the plants....they know what that is...and they want it too :D

you know what..... im beginnin to think the same........ ill make him some special treats in the future :ganjamon:

thanks for stoppin by mayne!

Just checkin in on my BROTHER-IN-FARMS :rollit::rollit:

Lol ya plants are lookin good homey!! I got sum HD PIX comin later in my journal... ChEck it OuT

thanks bruh! you know im in on your grow homie :surf:

thanks for the input mayne! there are so many nutes yet to try, but Pro grow and pro bloom is on my list for sure. im pretty sure ill be crossing over to all organic when the time comes, but for now i goto use what i got yknow?? the nutes and stuff i already bought, i plan on using until the next batch of seeds. i sense my next grow will be a tad bit more serious.....

:thankyou: everyone for the feedback! +reps! :yahoo:
