Belated Weekend Update (week #15)
56 days since flip to 12/12
HELP!
Hey gang! I'm a day late, and definitely a dollar short. I need your expert HB advice.
First off, I chopped PB, AS and SS yesterday. No pic's since they looked the same as my previous update. I'll get shots and weights once they are ready for the jar. BD and SD will come down in a few days. Mites got the best of them - and me. I'd let the remaining two go longer but it is a losing battle.
My real concern is with the new kids. They all germinated and sprouted perfectly. The first week of growth appeared normal. Then my black thumb took over but I have no idea what the problem is. They look over-watered, but I assure you they are not. If the soil looks damp, it is because I finally watered them yesterday evening to see if they would perk up, but I knew I was fooling myself.
I knocked a couple of them out of their cups to get a look at their roots. They are down to the bottom and have circled the bottom, but under normal circumstances I would give them at least another week or two before up-canning them.
They are all in Doc's kit soil, but it is soil from my previous grow and has not been amended. I wanted to start my seeds but I knew the soil wouldn't be ready, so I held back about one gallon and used this un-amended soil for germination. All my research points to a nutrient deficiency, and typically it sounds like a lack of potassium. Since this is HB soil, I'm not going to add potassium. Oldest leaves are light green now, and new growth is also no longer dark.
Growth is very stunted and droopy with twisted, dry-feeling leaves. Their roots look good, but not developed to the point they are close to being rootbound. At two weeks, they are so young, I have not started drenches or foliars. Since I have mites in my GR, I'm going to assume I have them here, too (even though they are in separate buildings). Still, I don't think I can blame this on mites. The GT(+) started off great, but the GASS seedlings have acted this way from the beginning.
Any ideas? My thought is to transplant into the (now) fully cooked and amended 2nd run soil. I'm hoping the soil, Roots!, Tea and Trans-water will give them what they need to recover. I'm not sure what else to try.
Leave it to me to 'F' up something so simple. Here is the ugly truth. The two bugs in the upper right are boxelders. I hate 'em, but they appear to be harmless.
