Howdy All - long time listener, first time caller...
Strain: White Widow Auto Max
The setup:
- 2’ x 4’ x 5’ Mylar tent
- 1000w Roleadro Blurple LED
- 200 Cf Carbon exhaust
- Humidifier
- WiFi power strip and RH/Thermostat
- HappyFrog potting soil from FoxFarms
- 3gal woven plant containers
The background:
After a complete failure with 5 Chem Dog seeds I picked up while in Portland, OR - they were successfully popped via water method but killed them with too much water in soil, I picked up some well reviewed genetics from a euro seed bank and have had a much better start - bought a pack of strong auto fems and was given a few other seeds for free. My wife and I are plant people, but propagation was a new process to us both.
So Far:
After being snake bit from suffocating my first seeds, I decided to go conservative and ordered some jiffy pellets. As a proof of concept, I popped two Afghan (free bonus seeds) in pellets, put on a heat map and they both sprouted in about a day or so. After 2-3 days, the tap root began to poke out the bottoms so I transplanted into quart containers.
I accidentally killed one when I inverted it in my hand and the stalk snapped, though the second took well - a lesson gladly learned on the pilot plants.
Ready to go, I set 4x seeds in 4 pellets on the mat. Three popped sprouts within 24 hours, the fourth caught up and sprouted day later.
The original plan was two pop four and only flower two. I was going to experiment with topping in two of them if all four survive veg, though after a lot of reading, I think I may avoid topping the autos and instead keep all four and use conservative LST to manage the canopy. Others forum posters commented that I may be pushing the limits of the single light, so I’ve bought another 600w full spectrum white light from Roleadro to supplement and eventually provide extra boost when going into bloom.
Currently:
The Afghan plant I’m using for testing is thriving and taking off. I have no idea male or female, and plan on keeping it alive for aesthetic value, as well as to practice cloning and topping as it grows. I’ll be sure to pull it out once room or risk of flower occurs.
The 4x WW are sprouted and happy, albeit growing very slowly. We’re keeping temp and RH around 74/20%. Watering is very conservative, every other day and only saturating around the plant - trying to avoid mold or
Fungus gnats. I transplanted the pellets directly into the final big containers which I imagine will slow initially growth as watering is minor while the roots set - the hope is minimalist stressing the plant from here on out. I’m awaiting My ph and moisture detector to better understanding of I’m giving the gals enough, as they are tiny in those big pots.
Big Pot - even sounds nice just typing it.
