First Time Hydro!

I *HAVE* a vented hood and 2 4" fans attached to it.... as per my last post, and I agree , I'd LOVE to use the 400w I have, but the area just gets too hot even vented thru the hood as it is.
I'll put my pencil to the paper and see if I can make it better, but it really seems to much lamp for the small area. I dunno.... keep the suggestions coming.. perhaps I can figure it out so I can use the 400w. I REALLY would like too
With you guys' help I'm sure we can come to a solution. I'll post detailed pics of the setup again on Sunday and perhaps you guys can peruse the situation and help me troubleshoot the heat problem. I just got home from a hot and tiring gig so I'm gonna smoke a bowl and hit the hay.

As always, any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

hey bro I run 2 400W HPS in a small space and use a 6 inch vortex to cool both. My grow room stays 10-12 degress warmer than room temp outside the grow room. So if the bedroom is 68-70 then the grow room is in low 80's and my thermostat is in direct light too. The reflectos are actually cool to the touch. I keep the ballasts outside the grow area. The 6 inch fan exhausts the air in the grow room through the lights. I have other fans blowing fresh air from the bedroom into the grow closet. I used to use a 4inch 117cfm and it did not quite cut the mustard especially when i daisy chained 2 400W hps's

Good Morning all..
had a late night and an early gig today. Just a quick update.
I did the morning ph ritual and Tammy has exploded with pistils.
Yesterday I saw ONE... today..they're everywhere...lol
The Test Victim hasn't yet shown anything. I'm sure Tammy showed
so soon because she was a flowering clone. Still looking for any sings of
those nasty boy toys on her... I'll check when I get home from the gig.

WaVancouver...thanx for stopping in, and yea. she is a nice plant..
Let's hope she stays that way.

Gotta go bring joy and happiness into the hearts of the minions..L8r.

Hey guys...just got home from the gig...it was hot and tiring, but fun.
Had a crowd of around 2,000.

We do old classic rock, funk, etc... it's fun.
This January will be 27 years I have played music for a living.
The Test Victim hasn't shown sex yet, Tammy is popping more pistils
and I'll get a few pics up in a bit...I'm hot and tired and need to shower
and relax.

I hate when the leaves that are low on the plant get into the rez solution.
pretty much makes 'em brown up and wither... but everything above that line does well..
guess I shoulda propped 'em up a bit.

I only read through your (3rd) grow this morning man, and I love the cabinet work, very cool! I envy you for playing music for a living. I'm trying to re-learn the keyboard/piano so I can get back into it, hopefully pick up from where I left off from in my early childhood years when I did play piano a bit.

Good Morning all.
Just did the morning wake & bake, checked the PH on the babies
and got out the mag glass again.

Tammy is doing well, yet, I'm afraid the Test Victim is a male. :|
I can't *quite* tell yet, but the little nodes right above the preflowers
appear to be little balls. I'm not *real* worried as the clones are doing
well and even IF Tammy goes hermie, she appears to have enough female
going on that I can get some bud action going if I keep an eye on her
like I did her momma. Gotta germ some seeds tho, as I don't want a
perpetual Hermie grow !

Such a shame because in my eyes the Test Victim is such a pretty plant.
I wanted to see it flower ! Tomorrow or the next day will tell for sure.
I'll post and let ya'll know as soon as I know.

I'm off to todays gig !

Sad news... the Test Victim was indeed a male and he is dead.

I'm a bit bummed but it'll be ok. Tammy is doing ok as are the clones,
But I started germinating 6 seeds this morning , all bagseed.

The struggle to get myself a viable female for the continual grow still continues...
