I'm genuinely disappointed in this jackpot strain from heavy weight seeds. I'm dropping another for a solo cup grow. I've lost confidence in the strain as a plant to fill up jars. I could be wrong and I hope I am but add solo cup grow to the mix

Actually, I am going to transplant that jackpot auto to a solo cup. I have seeds coming and if they arrive this week as planned, I will replace the jackpot auto with one of those (there are some good autos). If not, I'll probably plant another ww or NL.

Quick update, photos to come. The Franco is very happy under the makeshift LED, the 2 WW autos are thriving and so is the NL auto. I topped 1 WW and the NL last night. It might be a bit earlier than recommended but I wanted to give them time to recover. I will top the other WW and Franco by end of week.

I moved the Jackpot Auto to a solo cup and it is small and sad. I have replaced it with a Pineapple Express auto from Barneys and it is up and happy! I have also added a blue dream (non auto) to veg along with Franco.

Here's baby Franco under the makeshift LED. She seems happy. You can see duct tape pieces around the cooler, those are remnants from when I used to grow some bonsai bushes from bag seed in my tiny closet with cfls. Anyways, pics of the rest to come

Here's a picture of the group. You can just barely see the Pineapple express which is about a week behind the other four. I moved the jackpot auto solo cup into the cooler so it is under the makeshift LED. I'm not sure if it didn't like the higher temps or the strength of the main LED but it is fighting through.

I do think my temps were a bit high. The NL has some slight leaf curl and one WW had very minor curling. I had it had 80F and 65% RH. The temp was this high due to info I have seen regarding LED spectrum and slightly higher temps. To be honest I had it set to 84 for a bit before moving it down to 80F. I also didn't have a fan set up yet

Anyways, the plants appear to be telling me it was too hot so now it is at 75F and 65%RH.

I was also running 24/0 so I hooked up my timer and I'm running 18/6 now. Night temps will be approximately 65F and 65%RH.

Hopefully, these adjustments will solve my issues. All is still going well but I need some dialing in. It's fun trying to read what the plants need and adjusting accordingly.

Here are the two I attempted to top. The more cleanly topped is the NL. I think I fimmed the WW, which I was half attempting to do so if it works out, great!

I hope everyone is having a glorious day! I woke up to very happy plants this morning. All were reaching up with their leaves. I made too many changes to say if one or more is responsible but my plants are happy and so am I!

As soon as the plants are happy, I couldn't help but tinker. I cleaned up the topping on the WW and cut two fan leaves off to expose the lower two sites. I did this on both the WW and NL that were topped. I figure it is a learning experience to see how autos respond in my conditions and it is early enough where they should recover in my mind. Hopefully, growth is not stunted but we shall see.

Happy friday! Here's a couple of pictures of the WW that was topped with the NL. I guess from now on this will be WW1.

One pic is how she was when I got home and the other is after what I am going to call "pre-training." I just want to stretch them out a bit before I start really training and I stumbled across a technique on these forums that I have to try.

Franco is doing well. She seems to like the current setup and is temporarily sharing the cooler and light with the lagging jackpot auto. The jackpot seems to be happier than before but I'm not expecting much. I half expect it to go into flower super early but I hope I am wrong. JA is in the solo cup pictured. She was planted the same time as the WW and NL.

Next up is the NL. This one had some leaf curling on the edges but it was limited to one set of leaves and growth seems decent now. Here is a pic of how she looked when I got home and one after "pre-training"

Finally, the new comers from my second order of seeds. Pineapple express auto from Barney's and Blue Dream (non auto). BD is in a solo cup for now but will be moved into a larger pot. I'm not sure of my plan for BD but it will veg as long as Franco.

PE looks a little banged up. I'm not sure if it is just new growth or a symptom of something so I will keep a close eye on her

Day 1 of training for WW1. I plan to start training the NL later today as well. Thanks for the idea of using the wood sticks at the base, @Preston9mm

Here is a group pic of the autos in training and blue dream in the cup in the middle.

It appears I fimmed WW2 and the NL. I think I did it early enough where I am optimistic about the result. I topped Franco this morning at the 3rd node to start training. I'm thinking I may clone the lower tips when I clean the plant up and start training.

My thought was to use them to also grow around the cooler to speed up the process a bit and graft those onto the main plant to complete the loop. Not sure yet but I will probably try and clone them either way.

One growth tip on the NL did snap about 1/2 way through. I didn't tape it up but I'm hoping it will grow back and work out.

Edit: looking at the pic I think I will remove some leaves on WW1 to allow more light to hit the lower growth tips.

Happy Sunday!

I was under the impression autos shouldnt be topped but rather lst. You also mentioned trimming some leaves to alot for bud exposer to the light, do you do this throughout the grow or just during veg? I got a Bluecheese auto im working with in week 3 flower and i want to cut leaves too to allow more light but a little hesitant on this, currently just tucking fan leaves right now. The closest one on the right is the BC im refering to

This is my first time with autos but I did quite a bit of research beforehand. From what I learned, topping is controversial and depends on strains but can be successful if done in the first 3-4 weeks. Most seem to shoot for the 4th node but I did it at the third. The goal is to allow for recovery before they go into flowering. Some concerns may be stunted growth or stressing into early flowering. So far these seem to be handling it very well.

As for removing leaves. I'm doing it on these autos to help lower grow tips catch up. In flowering I would only do it to help bud sites I am keeping get more light. Also, if air flow is issues are arising. I tuck when I can and cut when I have to.

I'm pretty new but that is my current understanding. Tons of info around here though.

Soo much info, almost too much! Not sure if my strains will take well to topping and mostly because i regard myself as a noob grower so always hesitant to do things that would be more bad than good. Count me in for your grow!
