First Time Auto, First Time DWC, Northern Lights

That is a great chart. Props on posting.

Roots look fine. Slight discoloration is nothing to worry about.

Now if s*&t starts getting slimy or swampy smelling you have issues.

Thanks, actually smells earthy when I open the top hat.

If y’all are going to run DWC or RDWC order some Z7 if you’re stateside and Z9 I’d you’re in Canada. It’s an enzyme cleaner that will keep everything squeaky clean including roots.

Z9 it'll be! Thanks!

Ashburn had another one of her crazy roots come out of the top again, I just covered it back up with coco

She has some slight discoloration between the veins of her new growth, I'll keep an eye on that, I'm wondering if the tent conditions are too cold, sitting around 16-18 ° or if that's normal for this strain because they both have some odd pattern of color to a couple of leaves.

Ashburn and Mullins

Both of these girls continue to grow about an inch a day for the last week because I've been raising the lights an inch a day, keeping them 10" above, but today I raised them to 12" above to get a bit more coverage.
We're at the end of week 5.

On with the show!

Thanks for that chart, it's a little hard to tell but my water looks static, I'll check again after work.
I put a water level indicator on my buckets and marked the level on it so I could see when the water was dropping and it helped tremendously.

Happy plants! They are preying really hard to the lights whatever your doing keep it up.

Great idea Candy that would make things alot easier you could check them in a glance and wouldn't have to lift the plant out every time to check.

I was going to install one on my bucket Saturday but it's been crazy busy, hopefully I can get it done today before the week takes off again, I had to order the rubber grommet from the Zon because it's not available locally.
Initially I wasn't sure about one, but now that the auto's are about 13" tall I'm definitely going to install it, I can't imagine the extra work lifting it off daily to check the water level and to do a test I can just get a cup from the tube.

Happy growing!

Thanks N420! This auto grow is definitely going smoothly, knock on wood, I've been keeping the room and tent temperature cool for the dwc, I just hope it doesn't have any negative effects on the coco plant, it doesn't seem to effect their vertical growth.

Happy growing!

I did the same thing for quite awhile then I just got tired of it and especially when the girls get heavy it’s a game changer for sure!

Love this journal full of great info and pictures.

There some photos of the month in there and journal itself contender.

Thank you for those kind words GH! There are a lot of helpful members that keep a grow going, without this forum I'd probably be still struggling with a soil grow wondering why they are so small.
Joining this forum was the best thing I've done in regards to growing!

Happy growing!

At the start of week 6 and a couple of things I noticed today.

Ashburn

She has a 7th blade coming out on one of her fan leaves, this is new to me, something I've only seen in pictures.

Mullins seems to be in preflower at the top growth by the stipules.

I was thinking of adding the bloom nutrients either this week or next, with today's growth I'm leaning towards the next res change, which was supposed to have been done on Saturday but life just gets in the way. I'll probably do a change tonight.

On with the show.

Mullins res change just before midnight, because..well life just gets in the way, it was the only time I had this Thanksgiving Monday.

Old ph out 5.97
Old ppm out 123

New res

12 litres
All half strength of
3 tsp micro
3 tsp gro
3 tsp bloom
Full strength of
3 tsp calmag

Ph'd to 5.73 (as close as I could get it without going up and down trying to get it at 5.8).
Ppm 767
EC 1629
15.3°

I hope the jump to half strength doesn't cause any issues.

They look ready for it. You should see significant growth increase now
Yes I figured with the first sign of preflower I'd better up the feed, they'll get hungry real quick.

Checked ph and ppm on Mullins tonight after yesterday's res change;

Yesterday
Ph 5.73
Ppm 767

Today
Ph 5.84
Ppm 839

So by guessing how much she drank (no water level tube yet) I added half a litre of ph'd water.

New
Ppm 811

I hope I did that right, I'll check again tomorrow, I'm still trying to find time to install a water level tube with each level of litres marked on it so I can see how much she drinks!

Now one of Mullins crazy roots has come out the top of the netpot!

Ashburn has a few coming out of the fabric pot.

Ashburn has some weird leaf growth going on.

20191027_233737.jpg

20191027_233816.jpg

And some insect damage, maybe a fruit fly?

20191027_233747.jpg

And her first node is getting used up

20191027_233757.jpg

Mullins leaf structure looks ok but for one lower node where the growth is stunted.

20191027_233833.jpg

But what the heck? Growing new roots from the lower stem? Is this normal for dwc?
