First Planting: Blueberry, Purgatory, Kushberry, Indoor Organic Soil, LED & HPS

Re: First Planting - Blueberry, Purgatory, Kushberry - Indoor Organic Soil - LED & HP

I was going to ask you the same thing Miasma. The pictures made it look like you snipped at the 2nd node, vertically.
Im glad to see this round of seedlings are much stronger! Things look great.

I did not, they are both topped at the third node, vertically.

All of these three that were topped are from my first generation of planting that got nutrient burn, so they have had their first two leaflet nodes pruned because the leaves were dying. There might not be 3 leaflet sets left, but there are 3 nodes on the stem. ;)

Oh oh, that makes sense!
Keep up the awesome job!

I should have pointed it out earlier, I didn't even think about how they might have looked that way until now haha. Thank you! I am giving these babies as much of my love as I am physically able excrete!

I can see how much you've invested, especially in time.

I'm on disability from hernia surgery until 4/20, and I'm pretty sure the doctor picked that day because I told them I use medical marijuana on my chart lol. I want to go back to my regular job less and less the more that I do this; I really want to grow professionally.

Blueberry Seedling 1 - Day 35

This Blueberry Seedling has been growing quite fast this week, so I've decided to go ahead and begin Low Stress Training. Similar to my Afghani Clones' LST, I will be stapling Zip-Ties to the outer edge of each bucket, then tying a Rubber Band to each Zip-Tie; this will be my tension point and will shape the plant based on the length/thickness of the Rubber Band used as well as the positioning of the Rubber Band on the edge. Right now, I am beginning by pulling the plant in a fashion that allows all of the nodes to collect a somewhat even amount of light, which should yield an even canopy of multiple top-colas later on in adulthood.

MsSinful I caught myself, this plant was topped at the fourth node! Same deal with the clipped leaves... haha. :O-[--[

Sounds like your doctor is pretty damn cool either that or the universe is telling you your on the right track for growing. Both sounds awesome to me haha.
Growing professionally sounds cool, I'd like to do someone with the genetic side of this. I'm realizing with each grow that I'm more of a autoflower person. I'd like to create a auto with a life span of 65-70 days, awesome yields that are guaranteed with the right set up you know?
Wow, that blueberry is coming along nicely! Great picture.

Kushberry Plants #1-#3:

KB-3_VWK-2_95.jpg

Kushberry Plant #3 begins Vegetative Week #3; it has been topped once at the third node.

KB-2_VWK-3.jpg

Kushberry Plant #2 at the beginning of Week #3 since being planted as a seed; this plant has been pruned for mainlining and topped at the third node.

KB-1_VWK-6.jpg

The furthest along of the Kushberry Strain: Kushberry Plant #1, one of my stunted, nutrient-burned monsters is almost halfway through Vegetative Week 6; it was roughly the same size as the other plants last week, until the leaves finally started swelling to be substantially larger than the previous set.

Blueberry Plants #1-#3:

BB-3_VWK-3.jpg

Blueberry Plant #3 is beginning Vegetative Week #3 and looks healthy, post-topping.

BB-2_VWK-3.jpg

Blueberry Plant #2 is going strong after being pruned for mainlining; I really like the symmetry of this growing style, and I will be pursuing it as my favorite way to grow so far given its ease of organization.

BB-1_VWK-6.jpg

Blueberry Plant #1 is doing very well after Low Stress Training; I've trimmed the older, nutrient-burnt leaves and a few days after doing so the plant grew much larger. This is one of the two plants from this tent that haven't been mainlined.

Here's the family photo from JC Penny's.

The Mothership

Today I administered Neem oil as a watering mixture and foliar spray to gain the upper hand against some fungus gnats who decided to show up; they arrived around the time that I began using my Great White Mycorrhizae. I've done the same thing in my Bloom Room and Afghani Clone Journals and all of the gnats do seem to be dying down. I haven't seen any inclination that the plants are suffering from the gnats being there so far, and I believe that my watering with two doses of Neem Oil will subside this invasion before any damage is done. I will be drying out all of my plants' pots for a few days after the Neem administration.

Beyond that, everything has been growing quite substantially; the older plants who had been stunted are now booming, and the new plants seem to be coming up perfectly. I haven't seen any sign of a deficiency or a symptom of any known disease yet. I am only dealing with the fungus gnats. I love how fast the plants decide to grow larger leaves; it is a pleasure to watch them grow this successfully so far. This coming week I'll be dosing these guys with Hi-Brix Molasses, as well as starting the Low Stress Training of the mainlined plants to begin their strengthening process. Thank you everyone for your support!

I agree entirely, and so far I've been taking both the good progress and interactions as a sign that I've chosen a hobby to pursue correctly. I think that would be cool to dive into the genetics side of what we do; it would be nice to have a selective breeding system to find a perfect plant. When 2018 rolls around I will be one of the first applicants for my cultivation and breeding licenses, or at least I'll try to be first in line (I know it may be a popular idea). Thanks! Blueberry #1 is one of my champions so far.

Re: First Planting - Blueberry, Purgatory, Kushberry - Indoor Organic Soil - LED & HP

Updates:

-I loaded up my Neem Oil gun and sat in my deer stand above the Plants today; I shook the pots until all of the fungus gnats came out to play and then took a giant shit on each one of them. I did this a few more times until all was quiet in the tent. This foliar dose in addition to the Neem Oil feeding should take care of my problem; I haven't seen any other fungus gnats since today's series of applications.

-I've started using High Brix Molasses with all of my plants, even though I haven't adjusted the mineral levels of my soil mix yet; it is strange how much they seem to love it, especially at the concentration I've given. Beyond this, I have mixed the following additional ingredients into my tea: another helping of Great White Mycorrhizae, additional CalMag at a standard dose and a light dose of Earth Juice Grow Formula that contains Kelp, Guano and Blackstrap Molasses. I think this will do well in both generating and stimulating the older, more established Mycorrhizae as well as the newly added Mycorrhizae; I am sure they are hungry. The only ingredient which I have initially overloaded on in the mixture is the High Brix Molasses; I have read to be wary about excess Molasses in High Brix Gardening, but I will be flushing with standard watering from this point forward. I am trying to give a healthy feeding to the Mycorrhizae with this technique because they've gone awhile without a good meal, but only in this one initial feeding of the molasses. Any additional molasses will be added at a more reasonable percentage.

-I will try to have a mineral-adjusted soil mix ready for my clones before they root to the best of my ability. My next batch will be a mix of 25% Fox Farms Happy Frog and 75% Peat Perlite Mix, with an inlaid 6-5-3 ratio of 6 parts 100% Calcium Carbonate, 5 parts Soft Rock Phosphate and 3 parts Gypsum; I will try to bake it for a month or so in a bucket out in my garage, watering it daily while it is wrapped up in a garbage bag for concealment.

Photo Update:

KB-1_VWK-6_5_Mainline-Complete.jpg

Kushberry Plant #1 has been successfully quad-mainlined. From here, we can expect to see four primary colas that will be trained to grow in symmetrical fashion.

KB-1_VWK-6_5_Trimming.jpg

Here's a trimming from the haircut this morning, cut at a 45° angle as I can by eye within the allotted space of my grow tent.

Vegetative Week #6.75 Update:

I'm beginning to pony-tail for my manifold establishment of the mainline hubs on Kushberry #1; I am still deciding whether or not I should shoot for (4x) Primary Colas or top these and try for (8x) Primary Colas. I will probably upgrade but I would like to read a little more about the size distribution of buds after having that many Primary Colas.

PUR-2_VWK-3_25_12-12-Seedling.jpg

Purgatory Seedling #2, which will be renamed due it being the only left of its strain.

A Much-Needed Update

It's a Christmas Miracle! Purgatory Seedling #2, the only successful Purgatory plant that I've had (i.e., not dead/dud), has now shown her sex as a beautiful female and a third node at Overall Growth Week #3.25; she has a slight reach with some small leaves right now, but ironically enough, I saved it by early sexing in the 12 on/12 off Photoperiod. She now resides within the Bloom Room and is on a new regiment of a 10 on/14 off Flowering Photoperiod. Ed Rosenthal recommends this in his Marijuana Grower's Handbook to expedite flower ripening.

Given that the plant is bound to be quite small, I don't think I'll top it. I was very surprised to see pistils so early. I may try to Monster-Crop this plant after I have collected its flower(s) from harvest or take a clone earlier on; I really want to find out if re-vegetating this plant in another cabinet before flowering takes over would be more successful and faster than attempting it after it has yielded.

Re: First Planting - Blueberry, Purgatory, Kushberry - Indoor Organic Soil - LED & HP

Wow so these guys have grown over a foot tall each; I have taken two top-cuttings of Blueberry and two of Kushberry, also. I'm hoping for some healthy clones! I am also going to transplant the last three seedlings that have been halted at their growth stage in Red Solo Cups this week. I have considered culling them because of space, but I am harvesting in thee next eleven days from another of my journals so I believe the space may be feasible. If they end up being runts, I will probably force-flower them.

Very nice! Things are coming along for you, that's awesome to see. Great picture of the the kush berry your mainlining.
I'm curious about the picture you posted on 3/30, are there any shoots with those fan leaves?

So far it's just the single top shoot off of the primary stem; it's growing in nearly a straight line, I haven't topped it at all. There's a little shoot right in the middle of them with pistils, I take the pictures with a 5K resolution camera but I have to downsize them substantially to upload them here, which reduces the quality of detail a bit. I'll post a better angle of the plant's height so that you can see it's build; I'm doing photos for all of my journals today.

Ive been having the same issue though with trying to upload photo either it's denied or I'm forced to downsize ..

Oh!

I have four new shoots, they were babies from the topping at the time of this ponytailed photo; they are much higher in the canopy now. Huge leaves, this one is turning out to be a bit of a mis-sharpen monster, given its delayed growth spurt from the original mistaken planting when nutrient burning wiped out the other seedlings I had.
