First Grow

Interesting thought..... If it came down to it so obviously a hypothetical.. If I were to cut Giselle in half and harvest the top buds, would she be able to handle the stress and finish off the bottom half of buds?

This actually happens fairly frequently. Many growers will pull the main cola down and come back for the satellite colas when they're ready. Every plant is different, so I would approach this cautiously.

Patients my friend. Good things come to those who wait. :Namaste:

But what if I wait then its too obvious and i come out one day to NOTHING!? haha :p

In all seriousness though, im not seeing a crazy amount of swelling. I am however squeezing a couple secondary nugs gently the past few days, seem to be getting tighter at least.

I am STRONGLY considering pulling her or cutting her in half Friday afternoon. For those who object I'd like to know how long I would need to wait in order to consider her "finished". Today, Just now actually I went out and noticed every single leaf on the very tip is yellow, so perhaps beginning that final stage, with that being said, If i were to wait it would most likely just be a week, and it still depends on whats going on this weekend at my place.

So, with all this in mind I will keep an eye on her and check for swelling as I certainly don't want to cut her RIGHT BEFORE the big show, but also, don't want to wait another week without swelling. She's a win in my books, and it's too stressful with the kids around. Peace, will post pics i just took in a couple minutes.

Should mention, took the pic from a less fatty side, just to give you a look at the smallest angle

I object wait at least a few more days if no change then it's up to you man. As long as the weather is nice you're good to go a little more can't hurt and it will let the plant use up some more of the nitrogen in the leaves. You planning on curing it for a bit?

im planning on doing everything I need once its finished to make the bud awesome. Lol. I appreciate your input greatly, and you have in part kept her alive a couple weeks longer.

Also, I am sure you all have read others journals and they have incredible detail, soil, water, what type of nutes, PH of water, and all that shit. I am going to tell you my situation if I haven't... In april I cleaned my room up and found teh seed, didnt expect it to germ, it did, and then I put her in the ground in mid May. May in Canada can be harsh, and we had a weekend of 5C (around 40F) or so while she was outdoors and I thought for sure she would die. She perservered and somehow has rewarded me. The soil she is in is incredibly heavy, I cant even stick a bamboo stick in the ground if i dont hack a spot out. So, naturally I had no expectations for this to work AT ALL. I thought she would perish that weekend or at least before June.
With that being said I want to know if you think that may factor in at all, clearly, she is doing tremendous in this soil somehow, but have been wondering if it has affected the yield at all. Who knows, but thats teh story of Giselle. Stoner self just ploppin her in the dirt. (magert)

I have a question again mr Spart, Ill post a pic in a few minutes. I'd like your guess on how much dried bud I would get from her if I harvested now, and if I waited another week, what you would suspect the difference to be, like when she went vertical, she grew a foot in a week.. Am i lookin at a similar explosion once these leaves yellow the fuck up? Thank brah

I got your message. Looking at that recent set of pics, the buds look a lot more mature. Calyx's are pretty swollen, doesn't look like there's any new flowering going on. Are you able to look at the trichomes? Without that info, I'd hate to tell you to chop and then for you to find out your plant hadn't reached peak levels yet. If you don't have a loupe or microscope to see the trichomes up close, then it becomes a bit of a "gut call". If that is the case - and they were my plants - I'd chop the top nugget off of the main stem and the main side branches and give the lower part another week. If the lower buds don't swell up in that week, then chop them.

Thanks dude, I will buy a loupe tomorrow, 10 bucks to make sure im not choppin too early seems worth it. I just feel like this past week or 2 have been a letdown as far as swelling but maybe im overthinking it. I think the soil and conditions of being outdoors may have made the bud production slow, but its also really good looking, so its hard to say what to do next. Thanks again

If you really want to taste her take a sample bud and dry it out behind your computer CPU or laptop fan for 24h or til dry and give it a try I normally do and give it a 2 day cure to check as well as checking the "crystals"

i actually just did this but didnt dry it out, its a nice pleasent stoned, definitely a get work done stoned and can only imagine what the rest will be like after curing

leaning towards choppin her tomorrow, I really don't see much new flowers either to be honest. I will however post pictures tomorrow afternoon around 4pm central time, and if i get quick responses I may change my mind. Been out doin work in the garden today and I just realized the whole corner of my yard smells like kush. So with me becoming aware of that I really don't know if I can risk the kids seein it. Thanks again everyone

Well right now it's not so much about the flowers fattening up as it is the "crystal" ripening. If you're happy with the effect well you're happy with the effect. Just remember that after building up a bit of tolerance, the effects will drop a bit and the awesome stone will become more of a mellow one.

Not going to chop her, I feel like I see a lot more white pistils. That being said, I see calyxes coming out of the joints with some amber preflowers, i've noticed those for a while but they also just dont seem to be getting bigger, at least not fast. Noticed them a week or two ago. Anyways, I am going to bite the bullet and let her go hopefully, another week.

Anyone willing to give me an estimate on yield as is right now? dont worry about strain factors or drying or anything, rough number in grams, please. My friend thinks it could be around an ounce.

Really yield isn't really that important if you're happy with the grow then be happy with the grow. I never weigh mine just for the simple fact I'm not hooking anyone up so weights don't matter to me. You're doing a great job on her and that's truly what is important.
:bravo:

Thanks, Spart and Ghetto. I am pretty pleased with how she has done. Yesterday was sketchy but made it. What they don't know doesn't hurt em.

So i will be keeping a close eye on Giselle this week to see for new growth, if none by wednesday I am going to chop her down and start the process of curing. Thanks everybody for input this has been incredibly helpful, and I am excited to do a smoke report as well. Talk to ya'll later.
