First Grow!

That's why I am sort of perplexed. All of them got their Flowering Nutes 6 days ago. Tomorrow was their scheduled day. I switched to reservoir water at flowering. Maybe there was a pocket of unused nutes in the soil that caused it. Maybe, when I watered 2 days ago the PH for the plant was too low. Anyhow, I asked for help and there are couple of people following my journal. To be on the safe side, I just flushed her with PH'ed water & she'll get her dose of nutes tomorrow. I'll keep a close eye on her though.

sweet a flush should deffo sort it :-) do you use a digital ph tester ? i dont trust that soil probe i bought it was a cheapy ! i had to order one off egay earlier today i'm not going to be happy untill i can test the run off lol
when you flush your girl what nutes do you add after it ? the ones you normally use ? cos i've read that but all i read was add nutes after a flush lol

Hi VG,

Sorry, got off to a late start today. The traffic from my bedroom to my kitchen was terrible today. HeHe, I work from home! LOL. I just check my water going in and then the run off. Pcs of the babies are going up shortly.

Hope your ladies are doing well! :high-five:

thats ok mate i start late every morning ha ha ;-)

maybe you should put some give way signs up i think you call them stop signs over your way to block all other traffic ha ha ha ;-)

I couldnt get a digi ph tester from a store so had to order one online still not been dispatched and the delivery date is tmoz grrr i hate lazy egayers !! ha ha !!

Thats what i want to do is test the water before and after i can't at the moment because i use an aquarium tropical master test kit and you put drops into test tube with water samples in and if there is bits of soil in there it will give a false reading i could filter the dirt out but it will take forever ha ha !

I can't get the ph in my soil to stabalize its sitting on 7 thinking maybe flush them with ph'd water i've been reading up and watching videos on youpube on flushing i'm worried that them yellowing tips are lock out due to ph being too high :-(

Just looked at you lovely ladies man they are looking sweet .. ready to swell like a sponge retaining water ;-) :peace:

Haha.............We both fight traffic to the kitchen.............lol. I know you are using a great soil, but it is the light version. I don't think you are locked out, if you are at 7.0, you should be fine. I don't think you Nutes are going to raise the PH. I know you started at a small dose, I'd keep it there & not go up for another week or two mate. When you get your digital meter, then you'll know for sure. I wouldn't flush your plants until you get that new reading. If your PH is off, then just adjust it and water as normal. The flush I did yesterday on the one plant wasn't even necessary (Rookie mistake), but she won't need any water for awhile! LOL.

yeah i know what your saying by there mate i thought i better read up on it anyway (worse case)and man you put some water thru her ha ha :-) yeah i started with 1ml per L and only had one feed nxt time they due just water neways.
I have some soil left over from when i filled the pots to start and i have room in the pots so was thinking to fill the pot then water over it because that has dolomite lime mixed in with it,can't make it worse? right :-) they better hurry up and send my ph tester lol

Yep, that's what I do. I add fresh soil on top every 2 or 3 weeks. I always turn over the top layer once a week also. It aerates the soil and keeps the little bugs from settling in and dropping larvae. From what I have read my Fox Farms comes with gnats, really nothing I can do about that, but I always disturb the topsoil to keep pockets of the little buggers from developing. I also have a small plate of vinegar in there and they are attracted to it and get stuck.

I never remove the soil, I just till it & throw some new soil on top. I have duct tape hanging in the tent also, I don't like that real sticky stuff. Now if I start to see a couple of hundred of the gnats, then I'll go after them more aggressively.

If you have problem with a soil and bugs one of the ways you can win the battle is put 2" layer of sand on top of soil. It will stop them in there tracks and do some good things for soil. I buy bags of the play box sand. I thought of it this way kids eat it all the time so its clean sand lol. Sand is to heavy for gnats and most bugs to get threw and it keeps soil cool.

I threw some on the top of my soil the only thing is I have to figure out the dry weight again the sand adds a lot of weight lol

That it does lol. To me worth it. in a day or so do a finger test in soil and you can feel how cool the soil is. Now when its time to water that part is fun. The sand moves around so have a water pot with small holes in spout to not allow water to make a hole when hits sand.

I have fungus gnats as well. Adding some h2o2 to water will kill them but also kill beneficial soil organics. So I don't go that route, as CO said sand is good. But if worried about weight for the lift and see test then using diatomaceous earth could be another idea. DE will cut and slice anything with an exoskeleton trying to walk, crawl or fly on it. But this also means it will harm
Beneficial bugs in your garden if u have any such as ladybugs.
This is a good looking first grow, just wait till the buds start and the magic begins! And remember patience is the key to excellent bud!

afternoon SABO :-)

happy first day of spring to you my friend hope all is well with you and didn't have too many traffic issues this morning ;-)

I hope we do get some bloody sun altho the last 10 days hasn't been too bad at all :-)

My lil ladies are just fine cheers mate been working with them all morning, trimming few lower leaves, undone the lst which the branches have held their shape and tied down in new spots (pics later),tied the topped plant down, topped up with fresh soil, watered.

I am now greeted with a wonderfull smell as soon as i stick my head in the tent,it's hard to stay away .. yum !!

How are you lil ladies mate ? :peace:

Nice to hear mate! Are you going to lollipop them before you go into flower? It increases the ventilation and makes it easier to work on and water the plants also. I would recommend it. Sorry about the all the comments in your journal about my gnats....LOL....I didn't mean to highjack your journal!

Are you saving your filter for flower? Believe it or not, I am only running an Ionizer during the day and it has the odor under complete control. I turn it off at night, but leave the fan running. Am trying to keep the humidity down in the low 30's for flowering.

My ladies were all standing at attention this morning. They got their shot of nutes yesterday & loved it!

:-) its all good in our gardens ;-)

Lollypopping i'm not sure of,on this grow anyways, don't want to push it and need to read up more about it before i even think of attempting it, i would end up with the stick instead of a lollypop ha ha ha ha :-)

No worries about the comments about gnats,it's info i didnt know before but do now so as far as i see it's a bonus :-)

glad your ladies are good mate love it when they stand up all nuted up, mine have only had the one feed and the difference the next morning was quite noticable and they only had 1ml per L lol

Yeah going to keep the filter untill the smell starts to find its way out of the grow room,i don't mind the spare room smelling of it but thats as far as i want it to go :-)
I have read that the filter is most effective inside the tent, what are your thoughts on that cos i was going to put it in when i flip um in a couple of weeks :-)

cheers :-) :peace:
