Yup thats almost perfect for seedlings, once they get more leaves and the roots set in i’ll be looking for a solid Vegge setting, but for now this is great

I get long sprouts too. I plant into little 2" pots, and then transplant into 1 gal. pots and bury the stem some, leaving 1-2" of plant height. My one little sprout is kinda long, is it reaching for the light, they’re about 2.5’ away and set to 115watts, it looks dandy though :0)
@cbdhemp808 gotcha, i’ll keep plugging along, these pots are kinda big, my hope was to get a month out of them.I get long sprouts too. I plant into little 2" pots, and then transplant into 1 gal. pots and bury the stem some, leaving 1-2" of plant height.
I just sprouted 3 seeds. One grew a root very fast on the paper towel, about 1/2 in. long, I planted it in a 2" pot, and it's growing well. Another seed took a couple more days on the paper towel, and grew a smaller root. The 3rd seed didn't really grow a root, but had a little tail and the seed lost half of its shell. I planted these two in 2" pots, but they haven't emerged yet. I suspect the one with the small root will be fine, but I have my doubts about the other one.... I don't have a crazy amount of experience with sprouting seeds, but the best are the ones that form a growing root in less than 2 days on the paper towel, and then emerge from the soil in another couple days when planted. I plant in 2" pots. Ones that don't follow this sequence usually don't make it... that's what I've found.
I take a brown paper towel, fold it in half, and then in half again. This gives me 4 sheets thickness... two sheets for the seeds to sit on, and two sheets covering the seeds... "hinged" by the fold on one side. I use a flat tupperware container with a lid, place the paper towel cut to size to easily fit the container, and add distilled water with a plastic squirt bottle... just enough to dampen the towel. Seeds come out of their soak jar into a tea strainer, then onto the paper towel. With tweezers I move the seeds so that they're about 1 inch apart, then cover with the top paper towel layers. I will put a couple more drops of water over each seed. I put the container in a dark cupboard. Lively seeds will crack and develop a root very quickly... 1-2 days.
