First Grow In Over 20 Years! Northern Lights Under 600W LED

All cloudy will give you peak potency.

Ok, that is what I read about CBD potency but I wasn't sure if it applied to THC too so I guess it does. I think I will let my THC strain get a little more amber because I want the sleepy couch lock effect; I have been sleeping so great since I have been taking my oil in the evening. Thanks, Pennywise.

If my Candidas looked like that I'd wait. From reading various websites I'm beginning to think loads of folks are confusing CBD with CBN.

Thanks for shattering my ignorant bliss!!! Only kidding of course Shed; I would rather learn I am wrong than do the wrong thing so your advice is always welcome.

It does make sense to me though if peak THC occurs at cloudy I would think CBD would peak at the same time but that is just an assumption I admit. Maybe some people are confusing CBD with CBN but I am going by the thread that I sent you a link to previously where a licensed seed company authorized dealer that had access to a lab testing for peak CBD. There is no way to verify its authenticity but I am taking the leap. Once you get lots of Amber wouldn’t that mean that your CBD is degrading into CBN? That may be totally wrong but I know some do degenerate into different cannabinoids.

On a happy note you may be pretty pleased with the harvest from your Candidas because my Cannatonic is apparently genetically closely related and it is a monster budder or at least the best I have had. Another reason I want to harvest is my buds are all so heavy they are all laying on each other in a dense mat and I am afraid they are going to start to rot because I am fighting the humidity to keep it below 50%.

Harvesting early to prevent loss to bud rot is definitely a thing! I haven't researched what CBD degrades to but I doubt it would be CBN. I'll find your link when I'm close to harvest though. I have a lot more time than you do ;).

Sorry, I assumed you had read it already, my bad.

I should have, but I have so much other stuff to read I was going to wait!

I just scrolled through 7 pages with no hard results other than Mark's thoughts:
"What we have found is CBD levels peak rught as the trichomes go from clear to milky and degradation starts as the trichomes turn Amber. This is when we see the CBD drop and other compounds increase such as CBN and CBG"

That's the same info for THC in terms of wanting milky. Nice if you can get it. That's not how all plants ripen though! Like yours. I'm going with my regular harvest window.

Honestly, I don’t know how you can do all the reading you do especially to keep up with your own journal with the pace it moves at never mind visiting other people like me. I hardly get off my own threads now and I find that hard to keep up with even at the snail’s pace they move at.

Yes, that could be taken either way that coincidentally CBD drops as CBN and CBG increase or do they convert? Mystery still not solved but I am going to take that as meaning wanting milky, yes.

Your regular harvest window is pretty ambery, isn’t it? So I think I will still harvest the CBD strain tomorrow but let the THC strain go on for another week or two under the 300 W light.

I'm not in the amber camp. My wife is a sativa lover so I'm going for as much cloudy as I can get with as little amber as possible. Still, with as much clear as you're showing, I'd wait for more cloudy and not worry about the amber yet.

I think maybe the confusion might be that I posted seven trichome pics but only the top three are of the Cannatonic I am thinking of harvesting and I don’t really see that much clear on them unless I don’t know what I’m looking for, LOL. The bottom four photos are of my Yummy plant I am not planning to harvest yet and I see a lot of clear on those photos so maybe that is the confusion?

I would probably just take your advice if I wasn’t worried about rot because the humidity has shot up from the 40s to over 60 a couple days ago. I turned on the dehumidifier and drove it down to about 53 but I turned it down lower today to try to keep it below 50. But my plants are so buddy that they have all fallen over so that I actually had to lower my light about a foot so they are all laying on top of each other in one dense thick mat so even though I have fans blowing on the top and bottom I am sure the middle is pretty susceptible to rot. Which is why I might still do it tomorrow even though I agree with your clear concern.

If you're worried about rot then definitely take them down. I'd rather have clear trich'd buds than trash any day!

Hmmmm.. Maybe I will monitor my humidity and keep a close eye on them for signs of rot.... OR maybe I will chop tomorrow. :cheesygrinsmiley: :headbanger: Thanks for the input guys.

If you have a fan blowing over them at 53% I think you'd be fine.

Standard disclaimers apply;).

Fan on top and bottom but it is a pretty thick mat. Disclaimer is appropriate. ;)
