First Ever Grow - Auto White Widow x Auto Candy Cane

I hope I can recover her lol. I debated on giving it any and read a few things about giving them after a week bc coco needs it. I won't any more till it's time . I didn't really think a 1/4 would have much of an effect but I'm still such a noob so bear with haha. I sure do appreciate the help tho. I'm all ears

It should be ok but check it before lights out and first thing when they come on to see if it has gotten worse. It's not the coco that needs the nutrients though right, it's the plant. Coco or any medium just holds onto that for us and the plants. I grow in promix with no nutes in it at all, it's near the same as coco but the coco acts different than sphagnum and peat moss from what I have heard ( maybe it likes a different ph to be most effective?) I don't really have any experience with coco myself.

When you say two different, like what kind of differences?

2 different phenotypes, they may look different, smell different, have different effects... a different set of genetics because it takes 2 right, just like us when we have kids lol. If you look into the end of my candy cane grow journal you will likely see the difference right away even though I topped one and left the other alone. They smelled the same pretty much, but one was a lot more lanky with airy buds and the other was shorter with a bit smaller more compact buds.

Yeah I went with coco for the hydro similarities bc I'm new and hydro is over my head right now. I check on her all the time lol. Hard not to. I have my lights on 18/6 now and dark when I'm at work so I don't bother them. I like 2 different bc I like smoking different types lol

Right on, nothing wrong with coco. Use what works for you, not what works for others. By all means try different things, but if you find something with good results after comparing a few, stick with it and improve it. Most mixes that you buy are actually a soiless mix unless it says organic or topsoil on it pretty much. The promix hp that I use it technically hydro as well, I use hydro nutrients with it because it is not actually soil. Now on the other hand, you can also use the same stuff for organic if a person wanted, just a matter of mixing the right ingredients with it and using organic nutes. All sorts of possibilities, but don't go confusing yourself over them just yet. Lots of other learning to do first :)

Yeah I'm trying to keep it a little basic for my first few grows. I know I'm gonna need bigger exhaust fans bc those 4 inch are weak. And I need bigger lights but mine are ok for now.

Got a picture of this yellow tip? Is it on one of the true leaves or the cotyledons? Definitely let it dry up now before water again. Like I said before, the plants will tell you when they want water :) They will also tell you when you need to add more nutrients, more or less heat and light and whether or not there is an issue at the roots ( when leaf tips curl/claw and turn down) These plants will tell you everything once you watch them and learn what they are telling you. It takes a bit of time but you will get it for sure!
How's it going man. Got home and checked on my babies lol. You were right, that little one perked right up since no nutes. I took a pic of it and my biggest one. This is day 11 and the medium is a little dry. Should I feed some ph water around the edges?

Somebody said they topped at 15 days but this is day 11 and they don't seem up to it

Nope, I wouldn't try to top them yet at all. Some people have faster growth rates than others, can't always go by the days that someone else did something in what was possibly a totally different grow and environment. I am watching closely for ya man, will for sure let you know. I would have to look back on my candy cane journal to see when they first showed signs of flowering but you definitely have another 1-2 weeks. You want the plant to have 3 nodes minimum before topping and always top above the 3rd node. I normally top at the 3rd or 4th but have seen people do this at the 5th one as well.

Oh trust me I won't be touching it until I know they can handle it. I'm starting to learn these white widow are way less finicky than candy cane lol. I'm starting to learn patience finally haha. It's moist about 3/4 down so I don't think it's ready for water yet

Very good! Yup, if the pot still has a little weight to it or if you have a moisture meter then it's best to wait. When the leaves start to droop a little then you will know it's time, but they will droop a little a couple hours before bed time as well, they know what time it is since they work off of light hours.

Man idk what I would do without you or this forum haha. Weed has been known to make friends lol. They seem to like the light I have but I'm really only pushing about 300w all together. Think it's time for an upgrade? Hps+led?

Haha not a problem at all man. If it weren't me it would be someone else that you would have stumbled upon I'm sure. I like helping out where I can. People on this forum have helped me so much that I feel obligated to give back to the community we have here :)

I wouldn't worry about putting in a new light right yet since they are still a little small, you have a mars 300 in there right now correct? Plus the other additional lighting. That should be plenty while they are small. Some people even grow right thru veg with lights that small but all depends on room. You could purchase another one at a later date but I would focus on finding something that you can use for flowering. HPS gives great frosty results compared to LED, but the LED also has more color spectrum and will provide a bit shorter more dense plants and buds. A lot of people actually use and HPS and LED panel in their flower rooms for optimum results. If you go HPS for flowering get at least a 600W, but if you go LED I would get one thats rated 900W or higher. I use a 430W HPS in flower and a 1200W LED in veg but I wanted the faster veg growth. I can also only grow so many under that small HPS light, what I have in there now is getting crowded, but I am also limited to one power circuit and can't run a whole lot more at the moment. Lots of things to look into but you certainly have time, you could even wait until this grow is almost finished and upgrade for your next grow when you have some more experience and more research done on lights.

I also wanted to mention to you since you are a newer member... In my signature below is a link to the forums contest section. In here there are 4 contests every month and a yearly contest for each one at the end of the year. Now that you have more than 50 posts in on this forum you are eligible to enter and vote in these contests.
3 contests are member, plant, nug of the month and the 4th is a photo contest where you can use any photo's you find within the forums photo gallery so long as you give the owner credit, or use your own photo's once you get some nice big plants growing :)
You can enter in the plant and nug of the month contests before the 15th of each month and then members get to vote up until the end of the month on which one they like best.
Member of the month works by way of nominations. You can go to the contest section of the forum and private message the moderator or admin a person you would like to nominate. This person should be someone who is seen throughout different sections of the forum lending a helping hand, keeping the peace and even leaving nice comments or starting up new helpful threads and so on.
All the rules are outlined in the beginning of each contest and should tell you everything you need to know. It's a great way to have some fun with your time on here really, great people in here.

That's what I was thinking bc I have the mars 300w, 3 25w flat panel leds, and 2 taotronics side lights. It seems to like what I have. I've been wanting an hps bc I can also use it for fishing, the fish love grow lights haha. All that worries me is the price over time, heat and like you said I have one dedicated circuit for all my fans and lights. I've already learned so much my next grow will be totally different lol. I don't like half assing

Hell yeah that sounds awesome man. I'll see if I can figure it out haha

How's it going my man? Haven't had much to report the last few days, it's been kind of slow. The small is growing better but still stunted. My ww are looking great. Today the leafs are starting to droop and the medium is dry. So probably gonna give them some ph water when they wake up from their nap and probably rotate them for different light angles. Hope all is well bud

I started feeding my autos (little under 1/4 strength) on day 13.✌
Yeah I saw yours too but yours were alot bigger than bc I saw you topped at day 15 and there is no way these can handle it yet . I only have all 4 5gal watered with a gallon of ph water. Figured I'd give them another day or two before I nute them

Don't worry dude, I care! I just wasn't around this afternoon, did my update this morning right quick and then off to the city to pick stuff up. Your journal is still young, the people will come eventually once they keep seeing it pop up in the journal section. Even I don't get much traffic in mine at times, half the people subbed are one's I've known on here for a while :)

Plants are looking pretty healthy too! Of course there is the runt of the littler but she's still green and standing tall. Don't give up hope on that candy cane, it might surprise you yet. All of them will really, that's the thing about auto's. If you check out my first journal or even my current one with the Dark Devil auto, they all started out really small. I'm still waiting on the DDA to take off and it's on day 19.

Since they are starting to get their 3rd node pushing out, go ahead and give them 1/4 strength nutes. A small amount near the middle and the rest around the outside a couple inches from the plant all the way to the outside. In a 5 gallon container it wouldn't hurt to get a couple liters into each one as well. Be wary of the runt and watch how it reacts to the nutes since it's really small, but it should hopefully give it a bit of a boost. If you notice any leaf tips starting to turn brown and crispy they may not be ready, this would be nutrient burn. Like you said though wait a couple days or so until they are ready for a drink again. By giving small amounts of water the first couple weeks the way I had got you to do has gotten them roots searching and growing. Now it's time for a little more so they can really take it up.
