DP,
The list looks intriguing. Keep us informed. I have tons of vitamin D for my liver issues. Lots of interferon buts that an injected medicine. Do not think it will work for plants! Damn near makes humans bat shit crazy!

At one stage due to my Hep C, they suggested Interferon, and id heard of bad side effects from it too..
But luckily with a healthy diet and stuff my liver hassomewhat cleansed itself and my LFT is low and Dr. said was in same general condition of an 18 yr old, so that was good news:):)
As for putting meds into plants soil, well when i was younger there were a few people suggesting some Birth control pills, as they thought theyd release female hormones to the plant?? NOT SURE HOW FAR ANYONE ACTUALLY GOT DOING THIS??
Im liking your grow so far mate, and wouldnt change too much, hope your happy with the nugs!!
Take it easy and chat soon, Smokemupm8..

I got the interferon and then removed myself from the program after bad results. That shit will make some people violently ill for months and suicidal. My liver is healthier now just from diet and a few herbal suplimnets. I went from possible liver transplant to no need for any major moves in the near future. Of course this could all change. I watch my diet big time. All I eat is Organic foods and particular ones at that. No Iron that's for sure! I stopped drinking alcohol years ago. Never again!

thanks for the comments,

@james, sounds like your ready for Armageddon mate, ill know where to come if the worse does happen.

im playing round with autos due to the crappy results i get, i know their are some big hitting autos out their but if i start with one that i know produces crappy yields then if the yield does increase then i know its down to something i have done, so the auto experiment will be running for a while, all been well i should be able to get a decent auto after all the breeding.

im not planning on adding all that to a soil mix, its just something i came across on the net that id thought id share to see what everyone thought, the only really vitamin i can tell that will help things is vit c, i got packs and packs of these, so again ill be testing this on one of the clones in one of the next grows, i wont be changing anything with the plants i got growing now, their doing ok so i wont be messing around just yet, more reading needs doing before i start using other products, im interested in the high brix method as well but thats another story and another grow, for now im happy ish with what i got, the yields are npt big but thats down to me using compost strait out the bag with nothing added to it, this is why the dwc grows seem so shocking, id get better plants if i sorted my soil mix out, even just adding perlite would give the plants a much needed boost.

plus i get to build up my own seed stock for future grows, im placing an order with heribes, yep i did drop herbies name again, ill be ordering some new strains on wed, not sure what yet but ken estes gdp looks like a good option, plus some new autos as well.

with the soil grows i only really want to add the basics to the compost i use, i have been using it strait out the bag and i think its not the best idea and is affecting the yield, so i need to get that sorted out, im not even sure what to add or in what ammounts, im thinking perlite and vermiculite from what i can tell, but ill do some research before i start my next batch of soil grows

I know FFOF is debatable in this community but I have good luck with my 4 auto girls. No negative effects. At least until The nutes wore away around day 35! I used it again with the Auto Bomb and Big Bang. They are both doing well and showing no signs from a hot soil. I did go 50/50 with perlite.

thanks for the info mate, i think the next time i do a big soil grow ill do the same as you and go 50-50 with the perlite, i think this is where my main problem is,
just uploading pics of the latest plants i got going

right then people first up with have the pregnant ak47 cross uk cherry cheese, i think the seeds will be falling out the buds before the plant is ready to harvest, the seed pods are splitting at the seams,

PICT2747.JPG

PICT2765.JPG

below we have some of the bigger plants, now im not to sure what this is, my clones got mixed up, so i have 2 plants that look the same, now their either nl x bb, or their special kush, but the special kush was short with fat buds so im thinking this is the nl x bb
PICT2767.JPG

PICT2768.JPG

PICT2769.JPG

PICT2774.JPG

PICT2775.JPG

this plant below is the same as the above, thinking its the nl x bb, but ill be able to tell more when its closer to harvest
PICT2770.JPG

PICT2771.JPG

PICT2772.JPG

PICT2773.JPG

next we have some of the 2ltr hempies
PICT2749.JPG

PICT2750.JPG

PICT2751.JPG

PICT2752.JPG

another 2ltr dwc hempie
PICT2753.JPG

2ltr dwc hempie number 2 is the blue mystic, not sure whats wrong with it, im thinking dodgy genes or unstable strain
PICT2754.JPG

PICT2755.JPG

PICT2756.JPG

next we got the 2nd big bud#2. both of these are regular seeds so i planted 2 hoping to get 1 fem, but i have got more of these seeds in my seed stash
PICT2758.JPG

below is another 2ltr dwc hempie
PICT2759.JPG

PICT2761.JPG

below is a 12-12 from clone, this was re-vegged as it was in flower when i took the clone
PICT2762.JPG

below is the afgan skunk, both of these are grown from clone, the side by side picture is showing the differences between tap water and fish tank water, the bigger plant has always been given fish tank water
PICT2777.JPG

PICT2778.JPG

PICT2779.JPG

PICT2781.JPG

PICT2782.JPG

now for the seedling and clones
first up is the strain i made, its the sour kush cross with kiwi
PICT2783.JPG

fem seedlings next
PICT2786.JPG

PICT27861.JPG

PICT2787.JPG

now below is the sleestack cross skunk twin, the plant on the far left is a clone from the sour kush, now with this clone im trying something i did years ago to get clone to grow, i took really short clones and planted them in soil using rooting gel, i use no dome and they always seemed to grow, but if the stem is long they wilt and die, so this is just a test to see if the method i used in the past still works, so that clone is about 6 days old now and has not wilted or dies as of yet
PICT2788.JPG

below is another afgan skunk clone, again done with no dome over it, i just mist it about 3 or 4 times a day, this is around 2 weeks old and is now starting to grow, so this method seems to be working, its just something i wanted to try as its how i cloned years ago and i always had good results
PICT2791.JPG

below is an ak47 cross uk cherry cheese clone, this has had a dome over it,
PICT2792.JPG

thats the lot, i hope i never messed it all up when sorting the pics out, i think i did, or maybe i never, time to press post and see if i got it right or wrong

Hey Don -

Great looking plants my friend! Sure is interesting how the fish tank water is working so well. Love that! Your flowering ladies are very pretty and so healthy looking. Nice job buddy! :high-five:

thanks x, just trying to do my best, i think im giving a big dwc grow a try, but i wont be doing anything till these bigger plants are harvested, so for now its the 2ltr dwc's that are allowing me to try different strains, plus i can take clones from these if i like the way the plant grows,

hey DP you got it going on! thats a great group of ladies you have there I like it:)

Hey Don!
Nice update, I've been waiting to see these ladies..
Nice LST work on those babies.

thanks, i dont really notice the change that much but when i check these photos with the photos on my comp its perfectly clear they are doing ok, but i still think i could improve on this by sorting my soil mixture out, using compost direct out the bag gets results but by mixing in some perlite i think i could get even better results, but ill be moving onto a dwc grow as long as i can keep the temps in the right range,
i need to find out the lowest temp the res can be ok at and then ill fill a bucket with water and watch how the temp goes

Makes me wonder if achieving the same yields as DWC or hydro, are possible in soil, using those same techniques..
I'm thinking of doing one last soil grow before converting to a Hydro setup. Thinking of 5 gallon grow bags, with a special blend of soil and perl.

its hard to say, i am doing the 2ltr dwc grows and the buds on these tend to be better and produce more over a shorter time,

but to compare the 2 grows its hard to say, i mean it might be possible to get the same with soil as long as the soil mix was perfect, but im using it strait out the bag so its not doing me much good, hydro and dwc will both produce bigger yields over a shorter time, but its a risk having a hydro set up, the problem is it looks like you have spent time and money with a hydro or dwc setup, but at least with soil it looks like you planted some seeds in a pot and given them light so its easier to talk your way out of should it ever be needed.

i think hydro and dwc both grow the plants quicker, so this would mean less veg time, but soil is easier on the grower than hydro, but hydro can be easy if you got all the equipment needed, like ph tester, ec tester, ph up, ph down, with all this it would be easy to manage, but without an ec tester it would be a bit hit and miss, im not using an ec tester with my small dwc grows but if i am going to give a big dwc a try then i will need to get what is needed, i think all always grow in soil but at least i might as well give a decent dwc a try, if it works out well and produces the yields i think it will then who knows, i might even stick with the dwc,

all the grows i have seen that are dwc seem to produce more than soil, and they do it in less time, growers say you lose some of the taste and quality by not growing in soil, but i really dont think the difference is all that much, both the buds from my soil grows and dwc grows of the same strain taste and smoke the same, so the difference can only be slight at the most,

but to compare my grow to a dwc would prove that dwc produces the best results, but again my soil is not mixed with anything its strait out the bag so their is improvements to be made for future soil grows,

Alot of stuff going on in this house..me too...so much i had to open a hospital...whats wrong with the roots if they develope a clear slime ???...do you treat or cut off...i got 2...one i treated and one i treated and cut on...my plants from herbies popped last night...so i made room ..i took all the sick and slow growers and put them in the hoepital...my cloner is the hospital...so i got 4 DWCs..3 from herbies...and my 6 midget plants i'm going to cut some buds off and reveg them...so what are you expecting from that sour kiwi...a sour taste ??...its getting cold..and that bush in the ground isn't ready yet..i like this sunshine pro mix 4...its got a lot of perlite in it...and no nutes...good drainage and gets real light when needing water.,.well..gotta go make my rounds check my patients...:thumb:

hi miwa, never had that problem mate, could it be the res temp is high, or not enough oxygen, something ive not come across mate, i know the roots do feel slimy later on in the grow but this is not a problem,

not sure with the sour kiwi mate, the sour kush is a heavy smoke that is good for me as it helps me sleep, but the kiwi strain its crossed with was a male so i wont know anything till it grows and flowers,

i got to much going on mate, im only doing the 2ltr dwc grows as i want the big plants finished so i can try a big dwc, as long as the temps are good in the test bucket then ill give it a try, i usually have plants vegging in my other cupboard so their a few weeks old by the time the big plants have finished, but i can do this as i want to try a dwc, so all the seedlings ive planted and are growing will be cloned from for future grows, plus it lets me try strains ive not tried and i can keep the ones i like and remove the ones i dont, but so far so good, plus it gives me plenty to work with while im getting this big plants finished,

id speak to jandre about the slime issue, he seems to have a broad knowledge of these things so id drop him a msg in his journal and see what he says, the roots in my dwc seem really white, i mean shiny white, they wasnt like this before, they was never this white, im sure this will change as i start increasing the nutes, plus the roots are young so they wont be putting much back into the res but when they get big they will start changing to a light brown colour

DP,
Great pics! To my eye they appear healthy and nice flowers. I am still intrigued with the DWC. I really want to try it but I get jumpy when I hear about slime coated roots! I enjoy the soil for ease of use. That said I need more experience with diagnosis before I go DWC. I just received some new seeds: Northern lights, White widow, and White Russian. I would like to try your 2ltr dwc set up. This would fit into my set up.

@GiGa. you know that pack of 10 seeds for the autos was it the kc brains kc45 auto

let me know if it was them or not, im thinking of ordering these later today, im still looking through herbies site for other strains to buy

with the dwc set up mate, id go with it, its very easy to set up, i never had any slime on mine, its might feel a bit like slime but its not a problem unless it goes a funny colour, the roots will turn from white to brown over the length of the grow, but only to a lite brown colour, they will be brilliant white to start off with, as long as you empty and change the res every week for the first few weeks you will be ok, once the plant and roots are big enough it will drink a res of liquid in 24 to 36 hours so their is nothing to worry about at this stage as the plant is using up everything, so keep an eye on the res later on in the grow,
