First CFL Grow Using 30 Watt CFLs

now below is the northern lights cross big bud femenised, i thought i had 2 nl x bb clones but it looks like i got 1 nl x bb and 2 kush,

anyway this is the nl x bb femenised, im not sure what happened to it, this is one of the clones that was from when i topped the mother, i did this when it was in early flower, and it has grown 2 main stems from ground level, so as it has 2 main stems from the soil then what im doing is going to lst both these stems to opposite sides of the pot, then ill let it grow up, this should give me 2 plants off the one stem as its split at ground level, so if i lst each stem to the edge of the pot then let them grow up, this should give me 2 main cola sites and the lower branches will be smaller buds, but all been well it should look like i got 2 plants coming out the 1 pot,

below is the special kush clone, this has got crazy branch growth so thinking its has monster cropped, it needs a bigger pot now and ill be doing this later on today, it has got 3 stems growing at ground level and these 3 small branches have got loads of branches growing off them so this plant is going to be very bushy, will it give me a bigger yield as it will have more branches and stems, or does it mean im going to get loads of smaller buds, i think monster cropping would be perfect for making a mother plant for clones, the amount of branch growth is crazy so this would be good to take clones from after it has been mothered

now below is the other special kush clone, now both the above and this kush clone was taken on the same day and taken from the same part of the plant, how ever this clone has been fed with the crazy growth bpn schedule and the other clones have been giving veg1 feed schedule, so im unsure if its the nutes thats made it grow this quick or something else, all these clones where started under cfls, and they grew quicker under the cfls than the mothers did, but i had these only under 2 x 30watt cfls where as the mothers where under loads of 23 and 30watt cfls, but i have got more growth using less cfls, so is this the nutes at work or something else thats making the difference, also the growth on this is crazy, this has really monster cropped

this has not been topped or had any lst work done to it, i may lst the branches at not the main stem because everything seems so tight and i think training the branches will let more light in later on and give me more of a yield, i wont be topping any of the clones, i want to see the difference between topping and not topping,

below is my last auto, all the clones and this auto is under the glr light schedule, im also thinking about trying the deminishing light schedule for flower but not 100% sure on that yet,
anyway here is my greenhouse seeds auto bomb, its not in flower and forming flowers, im thinking it will give me double what i got off the g13 due to the size of this and how big the branches are, so below is the auto, no signs of stress from been under glr, i thought it would make it go hermie as a regular plant would go hermie if the dark 12 hours was messed about with, but as its an auto it should flower under any light schedule including 24-0, i would like to try an auto under 24-0 so ill probably order some seeds and try and auto under 24-0 and see if it will flower under constant light, it might be a way of getting the biggest yield from an auto, if it constantly grew with no dark period and still flowered then surely that would give a bigger yield,

the auto below has had some lst done to it the side branches you can see at the 4 corners was lst so it grew towards the edge of the pot before i removed the lst and let it grow up towards the light, this has opened the plant up and the branches really started to grow bigger after starting the lst, i did not lst the main stem i lst the node branches that was growing upwards, i trained them to the edge of the pot then when it started to flower i removed the lst to allow it to grow up and give me some decent sized buds.

i have got more pics but its taking ages to upload so ill put them up when i can. anyway you have now seen all the plants i have got in veg and my auto thats in flower, i dont think the ak47 cross uk cherry cheese clones have rooted, they are now wilting which is strange because for 2 weeks they did stay alive and had new growth, but their is no roots at all so looks like i have not got a clone of that, which im bit gutted about as i quick dried some yesterday and had a smoke last night and it put me to sleep, i really nice smoke, dont taste like shade leaf or any greenery, tastes real nice, not skunky like other plants, a sort of slightly tangy smoke, im also quick drying a bud of the auto, that smells tangy as well so cant wait to try it, plus if the ak47 cross smokes nice now then i cant wait till its curred for a while then i can try it then, it smells so nice, i got 2 seeds left of the ak47 reg, but i got low fem numbers from the seeds, i planted 2 out doors sex unknown as i have not checked on the plants in 2 weeks, i had the 1 fem hempie that i harvested and thats it, so i got 2 regular ak seeds left, but i think ill soak them for the next grow and try something i have not tried this time round,

another couple of pics of the auto i got in flower under glr, if it does go hermie then i wont mind as i will have some auto seeds, plus they should be fem as the plant is femenised so wont have any male genes, does anyone actually know if you made a femenised plant hermie would it produce only fem seeds because it dont have the male gene like a regular seed, can a femenised seed go hermie without the male gene in it, the other thing is do autos go hermie, if not come across any that have but it dont mean they cant go hermie, im just wondering as they flower due to age and not light cycles so i wonder if its hard to get them to hermie as they dont rely on 12 hours of dark to flower,

couple of pics of my hempie main bud dry, the pop bottle behind the bud is a 2ltr pop bottle, the bud is not that big anymore, its slightly smaller now its nearly dry, will be curring it very soon

donpaul. i have been flipping the pages on this journal for quite some time now. it is just way too long for me to finish very quickly. however would like to say really enjoyed some of your rants about GLR and especially the hempy bucket experiment. anyhow i'm subbed in to this now.

Thanks for the pictures, I love pictures :). Looks like our autos are About at the same point, when I LST'ed, I pulled the main stem to the side and other branches spread out slightly, is that how I'm supposed to do it? I thought the idea was to ensure all the branches are approximately at the same height...? Am I doing it right? Lol
 
@ canukgal, yep your doing it right, thats what i did with my first auto, it more or less stopped growing and everything below the top of the plant wasnt growing so i pulled the top down lower than the node growth and this forced all the nodes to grow branches, when i knew the plant was well into flower i undid the lst to let the stem grow upwards with the other branches,

with the auto bomb in flower now i did not lst the main stem as it grew ok, instead i pulled out the 4 lowest branches as these was growing strait upwards and not spreading out so nothing else was growing, so i pulled these branches out to the 4 corners of the pot, and thats what you can see in the picture i took from above the auto looking down, you can clearly see the 4 branches N,E,Sand West, i lst these till the plant went into flower a few days ago, it has been showing pistils since week 2, but its only just started to flower over the last week or 2, so now i have took off all the lst and let them branches grow up towards the light, so this should give me bigger buds on all these branches.

the proper lst is to pull down the main stem then lst all the branches as well so you keep the plant low and have an even canopy, but as the stem on this wasnt a problem i found the side branches wanted to grow up instead of spread out so i helped them and trained them to the edges of the pot, it really opened the plant up and let the light in and it then grew another 5 or 6 branches, so then when it went into flower i undid it all and i have not got the main stem as main cola site, then i got 4 branches that will have smaller buds on but not to small, then i have all the branches in the middle of these that will have the smaller buds on, just by looking at this auto i can tell im going to get a lot more than i did off the problem G13 auto,

the G13 auto is now drying, it has lost a lot of bulk to the buds, i think the buds are really light and fluffy so it has shrunk a lot, im hoping this other auto can give me denser buds.

Im going to try something with BPN products and this auto, im going to use the dose stated for flower stage, but instead of adding the bloom booster at the dose stated in the guide, im going to add the bloom booster using the instructions on the bloom booster bottle, it says to add more on the bottle than the guide does, if i start getting problems then ill back off a bit, but i might as well try it and see what happens, if i get great results then i could use that on the next time my plants are in flower, hopefully it should give the buds a boost, so im going to try that over the next few feeds and see how it reacts to it.

and yes canukgal, your doing it exactly right, i wasnt trying to lst the whole plant as such, on the one i did it to force the growth at the nodes to grow by pulling the main stem down, so i did that and it worked and i undid the lst after i knew it was in flower, with this auto i got left i wasnt trying to lst it as such, instead i wanted to open the plant up to let the light in so i could get more growth out of it, so by training them 4 branches outwards it got the plant growing more than it was, so its just to give me more growth basically,

thanks for the kind words, i think i done well, im hoping i can do better and better each time, all ready i can tell these clones are more healthy than the mothers and growing a lot quicker than the mothers ever did, but i never had bpn from day 1, i only got in when my first plants went into flower, so maybe thats whats making the difference, cant wait to see how round 2 finishes,
 
@kr0nicle, thanks mate, glad to have you aboard, as you can see im giving glr a good going this time, im using it from now till flower, im noticing the clones are loving the glr and growing like crazy but my seedling isnt growing any quicker than a normal seedling, but im sure as soon as its a couple of weeks old it should be able to go crazy like the clones, so in theory im hoping this time i wont need to veg for so long and by the looks of it all ready i really wont need to veg that long, my plants the first time round didnt even make it 1ft tall after 7 weeks of veg, but all ready i got 1 clone thats nearly 1ft tall all ready and growing like crazy, but it has not got any long side branches yet, it has got loads of branches so i need to train them i think to let the light in as its growing like crazy, so thats my plan for tomorrow, to get the plants sorted and sort out the branches on the clones to make sure the lights getting in so they can grow instead of sitting in the dark
 
Hey dp, the pics are looking real good thanks for sharing... Those plants have definitely been monster cropped you can tell, loads of shoots coming out everywhere. I haven't seen one yet, but a SCROG with a monster cropped plant would be awesome.. 2-3 weeks of solid veg and the screen would be full with all the shoots.

As far as your question about the female plant going hermie... Any female is (xx) as far as their chromosomes go, a male is (xy). So it doesn't matter if the female was feminized or not it would still only contain (xx) sex chromosomes. If I remember correctly what you need to do is hermie a female plant, which will still only have (xx) it doesn't change to (xy). Cross it with a normal female and the result will be feminized seeds on the normal female plant. I could be wrong, I've never tried..

And damn awesome job on that bud, it's huge!!! +rep
 
thanks mate, i cant believe how well these clones are growing, the only difference i can see from the first time round is the nutrients, these clones where under cfls till the other day, and they was only under 2 x 30watt 6400k cfls, now the mothers where under a load of 6400k cfls, so not sure why they are growing like crazy now, the only thing i can think of is the nutes, when i first got the bpn i was entering flower on my first plants so never used bpn from day1, this time round im using bpn and my clones are growing like crazy, the big kush clone is all ready bigger than the plants i vegd for 7 weeks, so not sure whats going on, either way my plants are very happy and very healthy, it looks like bpn is working its magic, its a brand im going to continue to use, i will put up with the high delivery costs if it means im getting results like im getting, it just shows that having the right nutes makes a huge difference.

i agree with the scrog idea, a monster cropped clone really would fill out a big scrog as it could be trained to grow all directions so this is where a square scrog would come in perfect, im going to have a look and see if i can fit a scrog in the back of my grow room, not sure if i can but i think i got enough room, you got me thinking now about scrogging one of these monster cropped plants, the growth really is crazy, do you remember that picture of the monster cropped plant we came across ages ago with the mental amount of branches, well my plants are going to look the same, the growth is insane,

I am going to do a couple of hempies again this time, i dont think i need to let them veg for long though, ill use fem seeds and veg for 2 weeks before flipping to flower, im giving glr a fair try this time from start to finish, so ill soak 2 fem seeds and use them for the dwc hempies, but ill give it a week or 2 before soaking the seeds, i think if i vegd them for 4 weeks then id end up cutting off more plant than i would keep, but it would be a lot bigger, i wonder how big a hempie can be, their must be some limit, i might soak 2 seeds and do them a week a part so the one hempie has an extra week of veg time, then i can compare the yields, all these ideas that i want to try,

i hope im doing a good job with the bpn, i think my plants are better for it, thanks mate

@deege, long time mate, not seen you around in a while, everything i harvested was a great smoke, at the moment i got my ak47 hempie drying and going into jars to cure now, i never hit the 1oz mark it was just over 20g dry so now its curing, a great smoke as well, i have managed to take some clones from my ak47 in the aero garden but not sure if its male or female yet, hoping its female, if not i got 3 seeds of that strain to soak if needed, the g13 auto i have not sampled yet its still drying, both the kush and the nl x bb are a nice smoke, i got plenty to keep me going a while and should keep me going between grows,

@miwa, what im planning is sort of having 2 plants coming out the 1 pot, ill lst the branches till the edge of the pot then let them grow upwards so i should have 2 main bud sites, i lst and topped the plants i just harvested so i want to let them grow as is this time and see what results i get, i know 2 of them have turned out monster cropped so if that means a bigger yield then ill take clone in flower in the future, but this time round im going to let the plants grow as is, the only lst i will do is to open the plant up and get light to the growth in the middle, these monster cropped plants are throwing out loads of branches so its going to be a couple of crazy plants, im just hoping it means a bigger yield, they are growing so quick, not sure if its the glr or the nutes but its growing a lot quicker than the first time round, im so chuffed with the way things are going now, no more slow growing,

the big kush clone could go into flower, it has loads of branches and is about 1ft tall, but i want to flower them all at the same time so i dont need to have 2 rooms, then when i change the lights to 12-12 ill soak some seeds and have them under the cfls till these have flowered off, but got a while to go yet before i think about the next grow,

the auto i got under glr is not showing any signs of stress, in fact its getting really big now, so maybe glr works for autos as well, the reason im thinking this is the auto is a cross between ruderalis and indica strain, so this means it has got some regular plant genes as well as the auto genes, so i wonder if glr is making the indica strain come out more by giving rapid growth, it seems like its growing quicker now than it ever has so not sure what to make of it, i have also upped the dose of the bloom booster, im not using the online bpn feeding guide, im using the online guide for the 3part of the feed, but the bloom booster im using instructions off the back of the bottle and the plant seems to like it and responded well, its flowering well now,

its just to hard to say of its the glr making the plants grow like this or the bpn, i never used bpn first time round till i was in flower, but now im using it from day 1 so that has got to have some impact on the plants, i have also got a co2 generator in their that bubbles away and i have noticed the plants look darker since using the co2, so its hard to say whats making the plants grow like this, chances are its a mixture of everything, but this time round the plants are healthier and growing a lot quicker, i cant wait to see how these turn out.

the ak47 cross uk cherry cheese hempie dry weight is just over 20g, i did quick dry about a teenth, which isnt bad considering it was 12-12 from seed, it gave me more than the g13 auto did, the g13 is still drying, smells real tangy though so cant wait to give it a try
 
ive not got a cloner as such but i got an aerogarden and i have got an ak47 cross uk cherry cheese growing in it so i took some clones from that just hoping it turns out fem, the nl x bb that is 2 plants was just one clone, im not sure what happened to it, it was a top i cut off when i topped the plant, then it started growing 2 stems from ground level, so it was only 1 clone but its got 2 stems growing out the ground so thinking the stem either split or a node below ground level grew upwards out of the soil, but stems are the same size and thickness, so ill train the 2 branches to the edge of the pot then let them grow up, ill have to see how it goes with the size of the plant when its grown, it is only 1 plant but its grown 2 stems so instead of letting it grow as it is and get tangled up i decided to lst each stem and have 2 plants growing out of it, instead of lst the whole plant.

my aerogarden dont have much height to it so couldnt have big plant, but if these clones turn out fem then i could possibly mother a plant in it as long as i keep on top of the growth, im not to bothered if i lose that plant, it was just a test to see if it would actually work, and it did,
 
this is roughly the same, when i topped my nl x bb i was going to throw the top aways as it was only just over an inch in height, but i walked past my rooting gel and wondered if it would survive, anyway it did,and it sort of split at the stem below leaf growth and ended up with 2 stems, so my options are to let it grow as is, or lst the stems to split the plant so it can grow without getting tangled up, im hoping if i lst it to the edge of the pot then let it grow up, then as long as i keep the stem tied to the edge of the pot it should grow up towards the light and in theory look like 2 plants, id dont look like a topped plant as it has no growth below the split, where it has split is the start of the growth, so its split into 2 then above that it starts its leaf growth, both halves look like a mirror image of each other, this didnt turn out monster cropped by the looks of it but it was taken in flower but early on, all i can do is see what happens, i thought lst it would give it the best chance of not getting tangled up, its still small so when it goes to 12-12 it wont be as big as the other clones so im hoping the pot size will be ok,

Mate that bud is amazing, it really shows the difference in power in flower with HPS to Cfl, making me re-think a few things +Reps man!! :goodjob:
