First Aquafarm Hydro Grow

also finally something my myopia is good for..
I'm near-sighted like hell, glasses all of my life, but.... I can put objects into focus just a few cm's from my eyeball,
meaning I can see the trichomes pretty clear naked eye.. there are quite a few clear ones left, a lot of them have turned milky white and most are halfway in the process of turning milky white.

And it's decided, tonight will be their last light...I'm pulling the plug tomorrow, then chop them down sunday or monday.
they've browned significantly the past two days, the buds also have a different look about them, like if they are hardened, leaves are yellowing all over..
I could go a week longer, but it has to dry and cure as well, lets just say I still want to be tasting this year : )
And yeah as I said, want to clean the tent and make the mods and try the next approach.
I'm very confident I will be delighted with this batch, the buds feel dense and smell great.

Curing curing curing...

Okay got another question.
Instead of modding the aquafarm
I just might go for another system.
I'd like to be able to grow 4 plants, but the aquafarm is not going to be suited for that, get a second one, and grow two in each.. but well that's twice the amount of pumps and that's gonna crowd the tent.

so I'm looking into the
-Atami Wilma 4 system
-Autopot (although not a dripper system, don't know if it will work well with hydro pebbles and my nutes)
-building something.. 2 trays on top of each other, 4 aero-pots in there, and a reservoir with an irrigation pump

what I like about the atami system.. well If I'd go for the 11l pots I could use the propagators which would help me a lot the first 3 weeks as humidity is low in my room and tent.
spacewise -it's the most compact.. the others have separate reservoirs, which I can see the benefits for.. but again the downsize is tent space.. and I can't go outside of the tent..
what I dislike about it, the spacing is fixed, their new systems have the pots spaced as far apart as they can which is good, but you can't move them around like with the autopot or if I'd build something myself.

what I like about the autopot is it's without pumps.. but it's not a top feed system.
I wonder how that would turn out?

what I dislike about building myself is, it's gonna take longer to source all the right sizes and parts and well it's gonna cost roughly the same as the Atami system

none of the above systems are DWC, which is what I turned out to do now, although that wasn't the intention :)
the roots just invaded the reservoir..
with the atami system one might be able to turn that one into one as well.. although the idea there is I guess to get the nets in the pots so the roots don't come out of the bottom of the pots.

what does the community think?

the next two runs will be Dutch Passion Think different autoflower.
ugh auto's with the endless 18/6 - 20/4- 24/0 debate..
but it's a yummy strain, perfect for music :)

never mind.. i found something.. there's a sale going on..
waterfarm style systems.. 30x30cm
very good price..
It's gonna be four of those..
if that turns out to be too much trouble, they could be easily modded to be fed from one tank..
no problem with spacing.. could make dwc out of each, I'm gonna do 1 as I have the airstone, and the other three I'm gonna prevent the roots from growing into the res.. this way I can see what the difference is.

the 18/6, 20/4 or 24/0 debate is pointless except for energy efficient grows or heat reasons :)

cannabis is a c3 plant, it's gathering co² only when there's light to do photosynthesis, without lights it's using oxygen and it lacks the capability of c4 plants to store co² for later usage.
if a c3 plant has enough water uptake to cool itself, enough nutes and the co2 won't run out, they can do photosynthesis 24/7, that’s cannabis nature something like they need to rest is human made nonsense and only occurs if something is missing …. elsewise they will be productive as long as they have everything they need :)

yes.. that's what I read on a good thread on it as well.

But well why can't we switch normal plants back to a longer light cycle once it's start flowering?

So I guess this only applies to the autovarieties with the ruderalis mixed in?

hmm yeah electricity, cooling.. all kinds of reasons why not the full 24/7.. however.. i'll have bloom leds and hps.. I could run those 24/7 and add in the hps only for 18 or 20 ?

normal photo plants produce bloom hormones when lesser then 14 hours of light is available.
for several reasons like the normal shifting to red/ir during sundown this is reduced to a 12/12 cycle with artificial lightning. special deep red bulbs (like Philips SpectraBoost PAR-FR15) with 730 nm wavelength can be used 30mins before the normal lights go dark and then for another 30mins as only light source to make the plant converting the Phytochrome Pfr form into the Pr form which triggers a Florigen peak due abundance and thus allows for a ~13/11 light cycle with photo plants.

to long light periods and light pollution in the 'night' will disturb those processes and the plant will go back to veg mode which can be 24/7 while ruderalis just doesn't care about lightning durations and will go on with its way as long as it gets enough of everything :)

Damn aren't you .. well over here we say a barrel of knowledge :)

so yeah.. auto's.
I like the strain I'm about to grow.
And in general lots of friends plant auto's in spring and overal they are all great tasting, however not high yielding.
I'm hoping in a controlled environment I can do good.

I will have philips bloom leds.. not the ones you mention, they are 0,5m strips.. red lights, they are used in factory green houses.
hmm I think I will go 18/6 or 20/4 electricity is going way up in 2016
like average household will pay 700 euro's more.
18/6 is already 6 hours more bloom time.

a lot of fun stuff was ordered, the waterfarm style system x4 it's 37cm high, 30cm wide and 25 deep
propagator covers, so they will have enough humidity the first weeks
more nutrients, rhizotonic and I did get some canna boost :p
good scissors and pipets.

damn just the growing part is already so much fun as a hobby...
