Feral's Journal Of Insanity & Some Growing

Just been outside making the best of the nice cool change we got about an hour or so ago, temps have dropped about 10c outside already, should be much nicer in the tent tonight as all the air gets dragged in from outside :) hopefully it stays below 30 so i can get some sleep tonight ;)

Looks like things are going well, Feral. You've got some beautiful plants coming alone. Bring on the buds! :)

Thanks Rider :) Welcome mate, shouldnt be too much longer on the flower show, even im getting impatient  its not very often i dont have at least one girl in full flower :)

They look really healthy and happy

.........

Thanks red ;)

Everythings looking good. Sounds like you had a fun time working in the dark.
Some jobs are hard enough without shit in the way when it's light.

Do you ever have dramas with the male plants being around the females?
Something i'd probably be paranoid about but i know nothing about breeding and that.

Thanks mate ;) yeah i had a lot of fun in the dark

Males are fine if they are in veg, its only when they are put into flower they will grow pollen sacs :thumb: this is why i have a separate tent for my breeding and is a controlled environment running a carbon filter so pollen cant spread further ;)

I know you have green head lamps and I heard you say you couldnt see hardly with the head lamp. The light that I got is called the green hornet and feral let me tell ya buddy if you would have used that I doubt you would have had any trouble seeing.

It is super bright

I have one light and its just in the room my tents is in but is very capable of putting out enough lite to allow you to see

Some Updates :)

Here is the addition to the flower tent, still needs a little work but no light leaks :thumb: will try grab a pic of my light frame tomorrow :)

Yeah id love to be able to use something like that but where my light is positioned in the room it doesnt actually light up the tents when switched on, pretty much have them facing away as much as possible ;) I hardly ever use the green lights, its only there in case of emergencies :) that one does look super bright though :thumb:

Yeah figured I would share though.
I can only imagine trying to do something as important as that in an environment that I could not see in.

I dont really go in my room at dark either I just got the light because I was scared of light leaks if someone turned the lights on in the room that the tent was in but your girls are looking lovely.

The stretch on that D Is unbelievable.

Thanks mate :) looks like it does the job well, might actually get something like it for my new setup when i build it ;) If Sour D builds buds like she stretches i think im onto a winner :) had to change her res out tonight as it was close to empty, she has drank around 40L this week  good thing is we should see her power on :)

Re: Feral's Journal Of Insanity & Some Growing

During flowering how often do you water/feed your plants.

I have her in a five gallon bucket and the last two weeks she has only been fed once a week out of fear of root rot

When I do water I feed her a whole gallon and usually have about 1/3 of a gallon run off

Its hard for me to judge now when shes totally dry because shes heavier now due to the increase in roots buds and vegetation. So the dry weight now is different then what it use to be.

Am I starving my plant?
Should I feed her more then once a week?
And what actually causes root rot?
Stagnant water sitting in soil?
Or the fact that the soil still remains moist and never completely drys out?
She is 39 days into 12/12

I am running DWC's mostly so im feeding once a week and topping up with water but thats completely different to soil, my girls in soil indoors and outdoors i just go by how they look, when they are starting to dry out their leaves will droop, depending on the leaf coloring i decide if they need amendments or plain water, if they look a bit dark i will keep going with plain water till they lighten up etc, generally i feed them once a week, water every other day but its been hot here and all of my plants in pots are root bound so they dry out pretty quick.
Root rot is usually caused by sitting in water, usually trays etc for a long time, your plant would be drooping from overwatering well before root rot :thumb:

Maybe someone else could chime in that grows a bit more in soil, hope i somewhat helped, look at the plant under natural light and let the plant tell you what it needs, soil is very forgiving, your plant wont frizzle up overnight if it runs dry.

I've been giving em 0.5L start of their day, 0.5L at end of their day - only into 12/12 for a few days now (already seeing (with magnifying glass) pre flowers coming out (not the stipules, they been visible for around a week or ten days now))
Gonna step it up to 1.5L per day now - 1 at start, 0.5 end of day

Using 60/40 coco - feeding to roots mostly and into pot every few days ... They've got air bubbler domes in the bottom of their buckets, pumping air direct to roots

I am with Feral on watching the leaves for nutes and watering but in flower I don't let the soil get as dry as in veg. Just because it will stunt them slightly if they go totally dry, after stretch root development slows to a crawl so letting them dry out isn't necessary to promote vigorous root growth. You pretty much are stuck with the roots you have after stretch.
As far as nutes go I kinda like to push a bit so I ramp up till I see burn then back off a bit, and watch for deficiencies then ramp up again and back off a bit when I see nute burn again. If I'm using bottles I use the corresponding nutes to the phase of plant of course but with organics I just take away some and add in other stuff depending on the phase. I have some home made organic nutes cooking up right now so we will see how that goes.
