Fanleaf's Huge 42 COB Array Build Plus Other Builds

I am not confused at all bud. It works plain and simple.. Its not in constant current mode anymore... I have overloaded led drivers by being just above the overvoltage protection before.. If u add another chip it will be way over and will not light at all, but if your in its over voltage zone at 150-165v the chips will light for a second and the driver will kick in its safety.. As i said im not here to argue with you.. It works.. Ive done it 4 times now.. Yes it isn't operating in its constant current mode, but thats ok, im getting 220w out of a driver that is rated for 250w. Voltage is maxed but current is not. It doesnt run hot at all ether.. I understand you've been under a lot of pressure lately bud.. But you dont need to lash out at people.. Its not a good look.. Ill leave you to your thread..
Cheers everyone..

Im not lashing at anyone here man. My point is that the 240-1750 is not a match for 4 vero 29SE chips. Nust because it lights up dont make it right. Are you on a 1400 driver or a 1750?

Here is a chart for everyone that will keep the drivers in the Constant current mode where they should be. This will work right every time. No guessing, no hoping, no random output wattage, no gradual wattage gain but just the right combos that match up.

HLG 185 series Drivers

1050mA model
Cree 3-5 chips
Vero 29SE 3-5 chips

1400mA model
Cree 2-4 chips
Vero 29SE 2-3 chips

HLG 240 series drivers

1050mA model
Cree 4-7 chips
Vero 29SE 4-6 chips

1400mA model
Cree 3-5 chips
Vero 29 SE 3-4 chips

1750mA model
Cree 2-4 chips
Vero 29SE 2-3 chips

2100mA model
Cree 2-3 chips
Vero 29SE 2-3 chips

HLG 320 series drivers

1050mA model
Cree 4-9 chips
Vero 29SE 4-8 chips

1400mA model
Cree 4-6 chips
Vero 29SE 4-6 chips

1750mA model
Cree 3-5 chips
Vero 29SE 3-4 chips*****very close to 5. It came to 4.95 chips*****

2100mA model
Cree 3-4 chips
Vero 29SE 3-4 chips

This will keep everything within specs!

If people want I can also include Citi's

Hey Fan, Glad you are back around. What is your thoughts on CLU 048.Timber has a 200 w unit 4 cob around 340.00.I was considering two of these for a 2x4 area.I am sure I could build cheaper but time is what I dont have.Intend to use only for flower. 3000 or 3500 ? Thanks for all your efforts to assist members here:thumb:

To be honest I was hoping they would use the CLU048 1818 or the 1825 but they are not. They are using the 1212. The 1212 is the least efficient chip in their lineup but it's the cheapest. 2 kits in a 2X4 would be 8 chips in 8 square feet so that part would be great. To reach a minimum ppfd of about 900 you will need to run them at 38.5 Watts per chip. Now 38 watts is very low for some chips but the 1212 don't get very efficient down there. Your chips will run at about 46% efficient.

I don't like it man. I just don't like it a bit. It looks to be a kit that is very attractive because of the price difference from the other kits but you do end up with DE hps efficiency lights. Now this kit would be a slightly different ballgame if they offered it in the CLU 048 with the 1818's or something but the 1212 is just not a great chip for a whole array if you are looking to do an efficient light that will out perform hps per watt.

I see you would have $600 into 2 of the kits. You would be FAR FAR better served building this yourself with 7 gen Vero 29's. You can probably do the Vero 29's and still build an 8 chip array a good amount under that $600 and have a VERY efficient light compared to the 1212's! If its a matter of feeling lost in putting your own kit together then relax because that's what we are all here for. I could walk you through step by step.
We could give you the part numbers, places and step by step build instruction.

But if time is the problem so you have to buy instead I would highly suggest a different option. I have a few what I consider to be far better options.
1. Vs the 8X Citi 1212's for over $600 go with 1 of their 300W Cree kits in 3500k for $629. 6 Crees will by far outperform 8 of the 1212's. BY FAR!!! Not even close. Then down the road you could add if wanted but you may be just fine with 6 chips in your 2X3. That allows 2 rows of 3 chips and will look like this...

Just the 6 chips will not only outrun 8 of the 1212's but with 56% efficiency!

I tried to put another option together for you but to be honest the price on their Vero kits seems crazy high. A good 8 chip Vero 29 kit would do amazing as well but in your 2X3 it looks to be the option above would by far be best.

To be honest it's not often I get to recommend a Cree kit for the same cost as someones original plans just because Cree kits usually double someones original cost plan but in your case it's almost the same exact price!!!

I was going small and then add on. But just went up to per sq. ft . I never turned my lights down. I'm running 160 watts a driver. I did test I'm reading 900 at 12 to 15 inches. After testing again, what should I need for veg for my plants? I'm used to hps and running everything 100% lol
Myself, I find 450-550 is just fine in veg. I was too scarred to go lower than 450 lmao.
