Extending Auto Veg?

Hello, I am known as UnkillableHotdog. This is my first grow journal and my current one. It's a photo log with descriptions on the pictures. I will elaborate further details as I post and update things. Thank you all for the postlitive feedback in my Introduce Yourself post the other day.

Let's do this.

Northern Lights Auto, 2 plants
Planted October 20th after germinating. I've done a little stress training. Some things I may have forgotten to add to the pictures. Wanted to see if it's possible to extend veg for autos and I believe I have, at least a little. Generally autos start around 30 days for pre flower stage ((first auto I've grown so just going off what I've read)). I got my first calyx and pistils at day 38 on one plant, but I was able to extend veg by clipping off the calyx and defoliating a few sections, lightly. Tried a nitrogen rich diet, extended light periods (I know autos don't care) and sometimes ran them all day and night, topped a few times and fimmed twice, and used garden staples to pin sections of the plants down. I've read that these things can help so I decided to try everything. After that first calyx it was a couple of weeks before another showed up. At day 48 my other plant finally showed 2 calyx and hairs and the first plant showed a couple more. My red bucket plant stayed in full veg much longer than my blue bucket plant. Both are same strain and from same breeder. I now am only using distilled water and may or may not use plant food again this cycle.

This is my first grow in about 10 years and my first time using autos and first indoor grow. Basically a noob messing around hahaha.

If I forgot anything I'll try to add it if I remember.

After germinating I dipped tap roots into growth hormones then planted. Adding more pictures.

I've wondered about this, off and on. It would be interesting (IMHO) to see two of those Northern Lights Autos being grown, one with extra(?) nitrogen and one without; I'm curious not only in regards to the question of whether this could extend the vegetative growth phase of an auto - but also whether it would tend to lead to leafier buds.

Good luck with your grow!

I want to test that out as well. I bet it would lead to some stronger and heavier buds and plant all around. But I need to test it separately.

Next grow I plan to have 3 plants so I can test a few things out separately. I want to test the nitrogen thing side by side with two plants, one with and one without, to see what differences they hold.

Some of us have been using Real Growers Recharge. It's a bag of microbes you mix with water and put it in. No bubbling required. It's a bit pricey but easy and it works. My last grow with dark devil auto I tried it. Making our own is still good too!

I'll check that brand out. I like having back ups and other options. Thanks for the info. I still want to make some myself as well so I can experiment around. I love trying different things out

On Amazon you can get 5 small bags for like $8. That's enough for a grow. Its what I did.

That's a good idea. I'm considering that as well. I've used distilled water the past 3 days. I was looking at some different brands. I've also considered making those teas next grow.

great idea. It’s much easier than I thought it would be to make them :high-five:
