Experimental Grow To See The Difference Between Coco Perlite & Living Soil

All the rest look great . I went back to the pic with all your girls in there, did you see how bright the light is on the two in the center . Do you have a lux meter to check that ?
I did see that, i don't have a lux meter, I believe the light is really only good for one or two plants, hence the small footprint. According to the manufacturer specs the light should be 12" away from canopy and capable of 3x3 veg and 2x2 flowering. Should I raise the light and turn up the intensity for a better spread? I don't plan on having too many plants, some will go outside (it's nearly spring here in nz) and I expect some males. The ones staying in the tent will be trained to keep them compact.

What exactly makes that "living Organic Soil "?
Unless I got swindled by the company I bought the soil from, that's what the bag says and I researched the company and what living soil is, and I believe the company is legit. Not sure if I can say the business name on here but this is what the bag says.

Ingredients look decent.
But if you intend to actually use that as LOS then needs to be in 15+ gallon pots, should always have a mulch layer and a little cover crop.
And keep it moist.
Worms also work wonders
Cool, the ones going outside will be in bigger pots with the good soil. The ones in the tent are more of an experiment. I expect the coco to outpace the soil, but I wanted to see if I noticed a huge difference between them. I realize the soil won't be able to feed the plants properly in such small pots when they are flowering so I've got plenty of organic bloom boosters. I imagine I'll probably end up using coco in the tent and living soil outdoors, but for now I'm just trying to find the method that suits me best.

Depending on the soil and how well its set up the LOS should pretty much keep up with the coco through veg and surpass it in flower.
Awesome!!! Mulch, cover crop, mycorrizae, got it. Ooooooo I'm so excited.

DAY 23
Everyone in the tent looks happy and healthy.
Moved things around a bit, the light is 16" above the leaves and set around 70%. Since I moved the light up 3" I've noticed the leaves relax a little along the edges so I think that helped. Surprised how powerful this tiny light is, but I don't think it would support 9 plants unfortunately.
I'm lifting the pots to judge how much they're drinking, some more than others, but minimal at this stage.
I can see the difference between the strains now, going to be interesting to see what they become.
I topped 2 to see if the growth slows noticeably (left center and right rear)
Not sure how the mutant will turn out, but it's already smelling funky. Happy daze.

I can't keep my hands to myself!
Now I've topped 4 plants, left-center, left-front and the two stretching ones in the small soil pots, I also squeezed the stems on the stretched ones. I staked the mutant down.
I fed the ones in coco to runoff with;
5ltrs water with 10 ml calmag, 5 ml fulvic acid, 10 ml each of coco a&b.
pH: 5.4
EC: 1.4

Quick question,
Runoff measures pH 5, and 1.2 EC.
Does that mean the plants are only using 0.2 EC and I'm wasting nutrients?

don't chase runoff JJ
it'll just get you going in circles. just make sure your inputs are good and keep a read on the plants.

things look good but i'm wondering what the white spots on the mutie are,

Hey, thanks for the reply. Yeah I figured they look alright, the white spots are a little moisture from watering with a spray wand, if I get water on the leaves while the lights on, I dab it with a tissue, so it's just the light shining on the left over moisture. Good eyes there mate. I just sat some stakes in place to show how I intend to train it. Since it could be unpredictable in its growth, I may have to change my plans. Don't like the idea of chasing my tail so I'll just follow the instructions on the bottle for now, like you said they seem ok.

So the victim of my stupidity is looking really sad. I thought about cloning the top but I got nowhere to put it, so I'll leave it for now.
I turned the light down to 50% and the edges of the leaves are relaxing.
There's visible growth and they look healthy.
So far, so good. (Besides my butter fingers breaking one lol)

Tent temp-75 deg f
Humidity-45%
I fed the plants in coco to runoff with the same nutrients as before,
pH 5.3
EC 1.4
The ones in the big soil pots are still drying out.
The two in the smaller soil pots are sitting in an inch of pH 6 water, EC 0, for a while so they can wick the water they need.
I set up a small pc fan to move the air around better.
The mutant is getting pinned down as it gets bigger.
The one I snapped is alive below the break, so it may yet survive. We'll see.

If you can bump up your temp to 78⁰ your humidity to 65%
Water the large pots more, especially around the outer edge.
If that soil is anywhere near aerated properly you do not want it to "dry out".
And you should try to get some barley straw or something to use as a mulch layer on the larger soil pots.
