Exceptionally High FECO Yields

Ahoy 420,
The big gains I have been reporting in my plants overall size and growth are big. That has forced my attention to the process of what I call whole plant LST. This is what @Graytail and @InTheShed are trying to show me. Bending the little ones over and restraining them while not cutting the primary shoot. With the plants doing so well, the space between my overhead ceiling hanging HID and the plants canopy gets little fast. I have got to control vertical height. This must be addressed before the summer when high temps are a bigger issue.

So my next question is how to grow four plants under one light, all growing horizontally. Where do the pots go and what way do I point the plants? Do the pots require intervention to prevent tipping over? My GSC downstairs is so far off center, I get to thinking I need to fasten her down some way.
Good morning. Off center planting helps some.

so when I up pot to 5 gal leave her off to one side? I think that would help but I never have done it.
Shed told me about the quad thread but of course I have yet to visit the place.
thanks bro

Yes, it helps some. The height issue is always a problem. Especially with folk like us with backs that talk back after watering

Was just looking for the correct thread from @Dutchman1990 that Shed told me about but not seeing it.

That completely depends on the spread of your light. The answer is: "No wider than your effective light coverage." You don't want the bulk of your plant growing beyond the lux.

For lights with a narrow footprint, something like a quadline would be more effective, where the plants don't get much wider than the footprint of the pot. Assuming you can stand up in your grow room, you must have a 7' ceiling, which is higher than a lot of tents people use. So I'm not sure where the height restriction comes from.

I run 600 watt HPS bulbs with a wing reflector. I have not got glass protected air cooled hoods so heat is a major problem even at 28" between canopy and bulb. The 24 " sweat spot I hear so much about is out of the question. So I lose 3 feet of my 7 foot ceiling on top, then put em in 5 gallon buckets on floor insulation rack and lose 2.5 feet on the bottom I run out of space. I think the lack of air cooled hoods is killing my low budget design. This stuff can sure get frustrating when so much effort can be undermined so easily. dang

If you have to keep them that low, then I would measure your acceptable range lighting footprint and scrog out to that point. Could be one plant in a longer veg or four in a short one, but that's the best way to keep them completely flat before stretch. And after stretch, supercrop!
I had my assistant purchase two rolls of my favorite netting material just today. :) Thanks man

back pain sucks

Ya it does!
Worst night I ever had for around 1 or 2 minutes. The horror of full sleep, awakening to off the scale nerve pain. I remember wishing I would faint. Fear of motionless sleep arousing the monster leads to more anxiety. All pain in hip and thigh, caused by the spinal stenosis they can't fix.

Preston's idea about a rosin pump is sounding better all the time.
Sorry for the public moaning.

Is there nothing you can do like a retraction table or a hot tub or eucalyptus or whatever? Too bad our nerve endings couldn't be removed or something to free people of useless pain.

Bro....
:passitleft:

Hope it passes

Ahoy 420,
Thanks for the kind words. Again, I apologize for complaining about pain on a medical cannabis website.

Garden update... The monster clones came down yesterday. The larger untreated clone sent 460 grams to the hanging area, the smaller MeJA treated clone tried catching up but came up short, bud and branches for hanging at 425 grams. The drying and curing will be isolated for further testing. Both clones were subjected to drought with the untreated plants drought going 9 days before rescue, while the treated plant went the full 11 days. Both plants look to be winners.

The mega crop faux run is just like what @stoneotter said. "Looking Heavy". I want to grab some of my low quality photos today if I can. These ladies are the most robust plants I have ever gardened. The secret to my success, you folks.
