Exceptionally High FECO Yields

Hi @InTheShed
I am maybe not describing this very well. The 20% and 15% moisture content targets are when drying flowers for smoke. When the weights come down after drying the flower is jarred and boveda packs are deployed to maintain the r.h. in the sealed vessel.

Are you telling me when I am drying for maximum rosin yield I should do something different? Very interested Shed.

You dry your smoking weed to 15% RH in the jar? You're well below the standard of 62% RH most folks use.

Also, from what I read, curing doesn't take place below ~55% RH, as the microbes need that much moisture to do their job.

This is what I recall them saying in the squish thread. I'd double check there.

No These are extrapolations calculated by weight loss.
1000 grams wet gives me around 200 grams at the time I put the smokw in jars.

This is instead of using hygrometers? Are you assuming that your weed is 100% wet when you start?
Yes,
I have 3 hydrometers for jars but have been shy about asking you how to best use them? I have them in a desk drawer with the batteries out until the mostly dry smoke is thrown into the jars.

Would you mind? Pretty please! It is only a few days until the next ladies gets chopped.
Teach me bro. :)

MeJA study notes;
Firebells!
The exogenously applied ester of the phytohormone MeJA has resulted in observable antagonization of the plant’s defensive interceptors. The GRN has conveyed instructions throughout the organism that the plant is under attack and must defend itself as a whole, while simultaneously the species survival mechanisms ensure the reproductive responsibilities are afforded whatever resources required. The GRN additionally has “signaled” the foliar mass that it must increase photosynthesis to generate the protein and enzyme synthesis required to synthesize the extra cannabinoids required to fend off the attack. Sound the alarm. :bongrip:

I have hopes. This is looking like we might really be on to something.

Before using them I usually check the accuracy using the salt test, but throw the batteries in and put one in a jar with the buds. Wait 12 hours and you'll have an idea of the RH of the buds.
When do you go in the jars and what measurements are you using to make the jarring decision?
some guys have said the snap test, but that is not very reliable as all stems are different size and moisture content ect.

I guess what I was asking about is what if?
Throw it in jar and 12 hours later it says 83% what do you recommend as a course of action? Like open lid for 8 hours to air dry and repeat 12 hour test or at 83% should it even be in a jar?

The extra statistics I take are not important to most growers. They help me stay busy. :)

Have you seen this site?
That is where I started using weights and why.

Ohh that's the kind of historical data I love to guide my future, thanks for this! Two things notable on this site, first is the target weight for drying...

Use a 25% conversion value to calculate dry weight from fresh weight. This value was chosen because published cannabis figures support it, because preliminary tests by growers have shown it to be accurate, and because it's the average most likely to be encountered over the long term when working within the 20% shake-threat and 30% mold-threat threshold range. <Marijuana Botany 1981, RC Clarke, p153: Marijuana Grower's Guide - Deluxe Edition revised 1990, Mel Frank>

The next is the yield/lights chart, compiled from 600 grows...

Good stuff, thank you!

Thank you @InTheShed .
I am getting an ambient reading while I go grab a cardboard box. I had not done any snapping, it was a mess trimming. LOL

What is not current?

Ahoy @InTheShed Up here in my den 43 and 42% r/h . I have brand new dry cardboard box with lid. Will I be ok overnight? And should lid be open with buds still so wet?
