We are in day 6 of the flip now and pretty much all of the bud sites are now showing pistils. The amount of pistils in the buds examined on Monday night have at least doubled on each bud. Since there is some conflict about the term budset, I am going to defer to Doc and call this stage, bud start. At some point I have to determine day 1 of flower, and I see no reason not to call tomorrow Day 1, which will be the 7th day of the flip.
This was an extremely rapid flip and can not be explained across 6 completely different strains other than by considering that the strong LED light has something to do with it. I still am seeing no evidence to believe that these cheap lights are in any way inferior. Opinions may still change now that we get to see them in bloom, where with an uneven canopy it is going to be important how much penetration power they actually have.
After talking to my professor friend about Doc's secret cationic drench we have concluded that I am not on the right track with my thoughts that the type of drench I am planning for the next watering is anything like what Doc is doing. Looking at the surprisingly small doses of Doc's formulas which include the surprise compound of peroxynitrate, NO4 in the compilation, we have concluded that we are in awe of Doc's genius in finding an incredibly powerful switch in the plant-soil relationship. I promptly ordered some drench and tea to start using in a week or so.
I tried some leftover drench that a friend gave me a couple of years ago on one plant in my tent and I did see an impressive difference. This test will be to confirm that the effect of the cationic drench is a thing. The high calcium/silicate/potassium drench I will be giving them on this next watering may be beneficial too, as it has seemed to be in the past. I just hope the plants love all this mad scientist stuff we are doing to them here.
