Eggs Tries Again With Some New Gear

I was admiring my flower tent and how good my lights are doing and realized I need to thank @Graytail for his advice, not sure if you remember gray but about a year ago when I built my first 2 QB racks you had suggested putting that cob light in between 2 of the QB racks in my 4 x 4 flower tent. Thanks gray they are loving it.

Funny you should mention that this week. I've just been talking to @StoneyMemoirs and he wasn't happy with the way his plants looked under pure white QBs. So he added some blurple and they perked right up. Might be something to these added monochrome LEDs ... :bongrip:

Yes Sir, I finally figured out the the QB boards need a little more color boost.

Looking good Bobbyz, is that a 4 x 4, looks a little bigger.
Yeah it's 4x4. My boards are HLG 288 V1 in 3000K. I'm run an adjustable 240w meanwell driver per 3 board setup, with wago connector, to add a board or two if needed. A Mars 96 reflector in the center. I don't know what it is about QB boards, but my plants seem to love them.

That's interesting info about adding the blurples to QB. I may have to add my breeding room light when not in use to check out. I've got an old off brand 300w one.

Thanks for the info!

I noticed sluggish blooming and added the mars light. They seemed to perk up when introduced with a little color. The manufactures have obviously picked up on it and started making new boards with supplement colors. But yes, it's an excellent use for those old blurples and the cheapest possible quality boards.
:high-five:

I have 4 Mars COB lights that have the red and blue added and my new Budget LED light has the red and blue added I will share a pic of them

Budget led does good work. Is that bad boy adjustable in power?

Yes if you look closer at the picture it is on the end closest to you, you can see it at the end of the light

Interesting conversation going on.....I had my plants under a 300w Viparspectra and just recently switched to a Mars TS1000 QB and the whole tent went droopy for a couple of days.....not water related. The only change was switching up the light. Maybe I will throw the blurple back in and see how they respond.

Yeah for what it's worth, I spent about a week freaking about that my plants weren't looking good after switching to QBs. These are 480 meanwell drivers and samsung lm301b boards at 3000k, thanks to a ton of hand-holding and gracious help from @Graytail. Suckers are BRIGHT!

So after a few years running Doc's Kit gear, when something's wrong, you know--and fast. After we got the tent up and the lights on, by day two I knew something was wrong with the plants. Being in modified 5th-run soil, I wasn't going to blame the lights for anything immediately--there were signs of this and that everywhere on the plants. Feeling a bit lost (been a while!), I approached Gray with my plan. He coached me through it--and it ended up working out! Thanks again, Gray. :headbanger:

Here's the story:

Initially diagnosing some MG def and N lockout, and potential signs of light burn, I first tried adding Mg (epsom salts at 4tbsp/5gal) and tuning the lights down to 75% strength--yep, it helped. But things were still nowhere near OK, so we went back to the drawing board. :lot-o-toke:

I then tried raising RH in the tent to 70--that also helped. Better leaf posture, but not good leaf posture, and the dullness of the N lockout still present, with the ridges on the outsides of the leaves still tacoing a bit. So I Super-Drenched them--Yep, again, this helped...but we STILL weren't happy with the way the A5's looked. Hell, I scared to take a brix reading!

I kept thinking, "They're not respitating properly...they should be praying", so I raised the temps in the tent to 82-84 or so...yep, more positive plant feedback--it helped, but they still weren't praying! THEN on a bit of a whim I added my old blurple leds--MASSIVE difference, in less than 24 hours! :theband:

Immediate response, plants praying, greening up and getting shinier by the day. Now very happy with what's going in there., brix was 14 last night on Neiko's A5 Killer cut.

Running 4 of these QBs in a 10x10, with two blurple leds (an old Mars Hydro and a Vispar Spectra) in the middle of the tent. Sitting at 82-84 and 55% during the day...."sexy time!"

BIG thanks to @Graytail for all the help in getting these lights figured out. Seeing some really spectacular growth on the Runtz clones I have in the tent that have only known life under the qb/blurple combo. It's something to see! Hope this little story helps someone. Cheers!

You won't regret it unless it pushes your environment temps out of whack!
