Ed's Auto & Photoperiod Mother Tent V2

It's been a great run for Queen Mother Wilhelmina Wappa and her offspring. I'm not sure how long I can keep a good thing going, but I intend to find out. The last group of clone attempts are not looking very good. I switched to FOOP and I see no root growth yet. Fingers crossed.

Some more bad luck with a Barney's Purple Punch Auto bean that germinated but failed to sprout. Ditto on a Gelato Fem from Homegrown. :sorry: This brings Barney's germination rate to only 50% with 1 of 5 beans remaining.

Today, a second germinated Barney's PPA bean was put under the dome. I hope I can get a couple of clones off her. Also germinated and placed in the dome a Bruce Banner Fem from Homegrown for a new, second mother.
Hey Ed...not sure how you sprout but get a matchbox, toss the matches and cut some 100 grit sandpaper to fit the bottom. Put the seeds you're about to sprout in the sandpaper matchbox, close it up, and shake gently for about a minute. THEN get yourself some pH'd distilled water and mix it with 3% hydrogen peroxide in a ratio of 5:1. Put your sanded seeds in that for 12-24 hours and then transfer to paper towel which has been soaked in the same solution.

The sandpaper knocks back the seed's natural waxy coating and scars the shell, helping the water to get in while the oxygenating action of the H2O2 helps bubble the water in deeper to the seed and gives it a little O2 in the process.

Harvested 'One&Only' Critical Mass Auto clone today.
Tried bud washing on account of the Neem and Final Stop treatments.
Looking forward to weighing up this monster. :yummy:

:sorry: Had to say Adios to 5 non starting Wappa clone attempts today. They were my first run with FOOP. I am obviously disappointed, but I am giving FOOP one more shot with 4 more Wappa clone attempts today. I am down to one vegetating Wappa now so I hope to keep it going. I have 19 days before she is due to go under the flowering light.

Meanwhile, true leave now on the two new sprouts - Bruce Banner Fem and Purple Punch Auto.

First, the bad news.

Still stumbling on clones. This all started when I had the not so bright idea to swap out my CFL light for an LED that had worked spectacularly for my wife's flower seed starting. When this wasn't working, I supplemented the light with another LED with continuing poor results. Next, I tried using the Mars light for a week. Below are the continuing poor results. They are now back under the CFL. I have 9 more days before LastLilWil Wappa goes in for flowering. Maybe she's too mature to clone? Will try a few more today with both products and hope to keep this spectacular Wappa strain going.

Now, the good news.

A bit of a close call, again due to not watching closely enough. Amid all the clone struggle mentioned above, the germinated Bruce Banner Fem and Purple Punch Auto Fem had grown tails 8 inches long before I realized and got them up potted. It took a week for them to recover and I was worried sick, but I think they're going now.

:thedoubletake:Another 4 FOOP Wappa Clones bit the dust and had to be removed from the dome.

Still no visible roots on any clones, oldest to the rear in this photo.

I've never seen roots at 5 days as advertised, more like 2 weeks. Still, this is my first run of more than 10 in row not taking, I'm beginning to think LilWil6 Wappa just doesn't want to be cloned. :hmmmm:

:hmmmm:

I'm thinking LilWil6 Wappa has a Magnesium deficiency and wondering if this is why she won't clone.

Supplementing now with 1 tsp Epsom salts per liter. She only has 5 days before going under the 12/12, maybe she'll go in late. I really want a clone off her before she goes.

Over in the 12/12 we also have a Magnesium deficiency on LilWil5 Wappa, now halfway through her flower cycle. Duplicating the Epsom salt supplementation and crossing fingers.

:cheesygrinsmiley: FINALLY roots on one of the Midas coated Wappa clones :cheesygrinsmiley: Lucky LilWil7

Changed their water yesterday and added a tiny bit of Epsom, knowing they all went in with an Magnesium deficiency.

Up-potted and fed her, fingers crossed. 7 is supposed to be a lucky number, no?

 It seems I caused and missed a low pH, poor nutrient uptake problem. I measured low 5's everywhere and set to bringing it over 6.2.

No photo of 'Lucky' LilWil7 Wappa mentioned above, as she is struggling and requested no photos.

Below, a myriad of last attempt LilWil Wappa clones to the rear, now joined by the first of the Bruce Banner Photoperiod, and Purple Punch Auto clone attempts. The first clones (in front of the tag) were the 'what else are you going to do with them?' tops ... AKA Hail Mary clones. The next two are the first of extra bottom growth being cleared. Fingers crossed we're early enough on this PP Auto. With the Epsom salts and balanced pH, they are definitely getting greener. Now we just needs roots, c'mon roots!!
:high-five:

Bruce Banner Photoperiod definitely shows signs of nutrient take up issues. Hoping I caught it early enough, and closely monitoring pH moving forward.

Purple Punch Auto, again early nutrient take up issue signs, balancing pH and monitoring.

I've been balancing all feedings to 6.5 - 7.0, but runoff continued to come out below 6.2 and nutrient take up conditions still apparent on both Bruce Banner and Purple Punch.

I've repotted them both, thinking perhaps their fabric bags were too crusty and pulling their pH down. No more reusing fabric pots!

Continuing clone challenges. Had to discard 3 lost Bruce Banners, 3 lost Wappa and 2 lost Purple Punch. Cleaned the algae buildup out of the dome and reset not quite dead yets 3 Purple Punch and 5 Wappa, adding 1 new Bruce Banner attempt.

One Wappa clone may have taken after all, fingers crossed.

LilWil7 Wappa clone looks to be finally taking, now about 8 inches high at day 23. LilWil8 Wappa clone did not and has been put to rest.

One Purple Punch Auto clone finally rooted and got up potted into the production tent with fingers crossed.

It looks like one Bruce Banner clone is sprouting roots too. I am giving her a couple more days to up pot her and move her into the production tent,

39 day old Brieanna Bruce Banner still producing low pH runoff and showing it with continued leaf discoloration down low. Ditto with Purple Punch Auto at 38 days. :hmmmm: Switched PP to Beastie Bloom.

:hmmmm: continuing and even worsening yellowing and spotty discoloration on my bigger Purple Punch Auto :hmmmm:

I finally got my sorry ass up to the plant supply for some official Cal Mag supplement and walked away with FF Gringo.

I also asked about a pH meter for soil and was advised the way I am already measuring via runoff is a better way to go. I then inquired about adjusting pH up in my existing medium, and was recommended an Organic Lime. This is rich in Cal Mag, so I used it instead to treat my bigger Purple Punch adding two teaspoons when I up potted her again today into a new 6 gallon grow bag.

:lot-o-toke:keeping a close eye out

Whereas the above treatment is having positive affect on BRUCE BANNER in the 12/12 tent, not so here with Purple Punch Auto. :hmmmm:

PP is much further along flowering, but I still worry her harvest will be less than optimal.

Plain water adjusted to 6.8 went in yesterday and she shed water at 6.5 so that looks good. She was root bound but now has 100% more root room since the up potting.

keeping a close eye out and crossing my fingers
