Righto here we go. Kids barely got a look in today until this arvo. J not home today so have to wait for weekend to grab ph. Did find an unopened kit but I truly hate those stupid strips, why exactly its hard to say, I just do.
Been looking for a reason to go to the hydro store, Im afraid that if I do go that it will be a long, expensive outing. Cant help myself, or maybe cant trust myself might be closer to the truth.
Pulled 2 kids out for a bit of sun and wind, should do them good. Getting a bit leggy in the cube.
I really thought today would be the day, alternating nodes. But its No 11 and still in axis... I have never seen that before. They cant go 12 can they? Do I have Hempys? What sort of crazy abominations are they???? Has anyone ever seen such a defiance to go to maturity?
Im like a witch doctor, staring at the size and position of the little tiny things at the nodes (I really dont know what they are called, I need help with this particular part of their botany/biology).
Ive heard all the stories, if they grow toward each other its a girl and away its a boy. Males have smaller, thicker ones, females long and skinny, most of the time. Never believed a word of it.
Yet I have never stared so hard at something trying to channel the gender from the ether, to divine an answer which sex are you.......Argh. I know deep down theres no rhyme or reason to it but:

Topped and an LST out getting some fresh air. Both are thumping the bottom of the pot, trying to hold my nerve.

Gave in and did the up pot on the topped one.
At first I figured it was a bit early so drilled the pot, went all the way up the bottom 2/3s and the underside. Prepped new soil, thought Id try different casting mix used on my veges and pineberries instead of more coir. Whatever happens something will change, can only hope for the better.
Whilst in the shed spotted some "Garden matting", right there on the label. After a Dont mind if I do moment, had it cut and lined in the pot.
Now heres the thing, never did read the whole label, was smart enough though to put it up to my mouth and blow through it to check for air exchange, no problem, no resistance.
All inspired I go get the plant, double check beautiful roots showing everywhere, pulled the soil bucket closer, tapped it out and gave it a new home.
A little watering in, a little more, a little more, a little more, shit she was drier than I thought, a little more, wait cant be this much can it?
Reading label. May be used as weed mat. Think to myself would water go through? Surely.
Check with water, a few drops, a few more, more. Fuck.
I did try and put holes in it but it was not really working. Around the pot edge was no problem, but the bottom pulling through the holes was murder. Eventually got it all (I think), at least enough.
Bit of a drain on its side and under the light. Hopefully havent drowned it. No good deed hey.

Looked good this morning probably benefited from 17 low in the shed instead of 11 outside. Which is strange for Feb, the weather been kind of brutal though so no complaints from me. Had them sunbathing this morning.
Another up pot this morning into a 300. This is the largest I will go, doubt any bigger will be much more than a waste of medium, the root masses arent huge, and in 4 weeks the weather will probably flatten out. Such is the late start and no mycos.
Looked roughly the right time, the are a bit dwarfy but not small small. Probably holding them back looking at the bottoms this morning.
Might be hope yet. Have I mentioned they are filthy?
Thinking Mrs DV8 is more than a little invested as she came out to check on them yesterday. She has a nose for them and seen her share, even she thought they were over powering. Wants to save the runty one, and all of a sudden is like, "They need much more strong sunlight, dont worry about the neighbours, just let them grow poor darlings."
"Oh look at her, shes leggy, maybe I should get the fan on her."
"Are you sure this one doesn’t need more water, she looks dry, are you feeding her properly?"
Lets see where we are at when trim comes along haha.

True mate. Even after this long together still feel like shes a winner, better than I probably deserve.
She shut down my sports betting so maybe getting a longer rope for the grow.
All points to good things once we move, she did after all get me the Greenhouse. Wanted one for a few years, even had a cheapy shelter one, but like to keep cash in the pocket so generally I just make do.
Once we got the deposit for the house she went and ordered one of those proper aluminium and polycarbonate structures, bolt on shading etc. Will put it up once we get there, been so tempted to unbox it all this time.
Love my outdoor hobbies and travel, probably stay at home more though if I can have my own shed, garden, and greenhouse to enjoy.
She wants that best lawn on the street life, be happy to give it to her once we finally go, counting the days down.

The other 2 today looked pretty good too. The smaller one didnt get any extra holes, and the larger already had extra from the factory. Made my decision to customise easy, will be in all my grows from here on.
Might all be for nothing yet. Mixed up a feed for them, and burnt them, one worse than the other. Time I caught it the bigger one was in bad shape. Flushed of course but the damage is done.
Be 30% of the bigger plant and 20% of the smaller plants fans gone completely already. Sailed straight past tips into full fans. Canoeing up everywhere. Cooked them.
Was pretty confident had the measurements right but evidence suggests otherwise.
The bigger 2 from yesterday are fine, so screwed up somewhere.
You got a good woman there DV8, that is truly excellent!
Hopefully they quickly get over the hot feed and it'll be a minor setback, they should do, these plants are pretty tough.

Spot on. They responded to the full flush, and straightened up a bit, fans have flattened.
Check them again in morning, then away for weekend, re-assess after that. Just thankful it was the 2 smallest and happened to be home. I was actually going to top them up to runoff, could have been worse.

What does “still in axis” mean when growing?
They are so interesting to watch grow, and the speed of their growth is amazeballs.
1,2,3 back to me: I did what you suggested and put 3 under flower and put my less than fantastic Mimosa Bubbles in my veg tent which isn’t pitch black dark for 12 hours, dawn is about 5am and lights go on at 0600, anyhoo that plant is now looking like a boss! They both are tbh.
1,2 back to you: See I’ve always believed the opposite, males are tall and lanky and the females are the stronger sturdier plant. I have no idea if that’s truth either.
I still say all girls.
They look great!
My boyfriend doesn’t get into my grow at all. He will begrudgingly sun chase for me in Winter, and he will help me bring them in at night if I’ve worked that day, but his interest is minimal. I can’t complain too much because he has finally accepted his work room is now my flower area.
I was so sneaky how I took that area over. Lolllll

When I said axis, I meant parallel. As in not alternating yet at the nodes. My fault, I say things that Ive been saying the same way for 20 years, old dog new tricks lol.
Thats good to hear Tra, Im cheering you on from the sidelines to hit flower out of the park this time. Its a really good time of year to be pushing, the temps are good, and plenty of daylight hours to get all tasks done. Youve got this.
