Dutch Treat - Blue Dream 2 Liter Hempy Grow

Re: Dutch Treat, Blue Dream 2 Liter Hempy Grow

I purchased a Advanced 200W DS LED light to go in my DR 80 tent for flowering. I opend the box and everything looks great, untill I go to hang it. You are supposed to use the metal cables and attach to the metal clip provided and hang from light hanger or chain.

This is all fine and dandy if I had more hieght to work with. But these cables and all add up to about 17" of wasted space. I thought oh well just hook a rachet strap to each bracket on the LED itself. I called Advanced and they said oh just cut a hole in your tent for the chain or whatever. Well that still won't allow my to get the light closer to the top of the tent, unless I cut a hole for each bracket. Here is a pic so you can see.

I have another option to use. A 400W HPS with a Xtrasun 6 hood. I'm wondering if I go this route to would it be better to put the 6" to 4" reducer on the hood and run 4" duct to fan then 4" duct to filter which will be set right on top of the tent. Or should I run 6" duct off the hood to a reducer to the fan the 4" duct to filter. Here are some pics how I have it set up right now just not sure if it's correct.

Unfortunately this is an often overlooked thing by these led companies imo. A simple cure would be to have cable go from eye to eye of the hangers on the led. This allows the user to hang his ratchets right above the led body to the cables and ratchet to desired height.

I ran into the same problem last grow. This grow because I was in a hurry, I ran about 8 twists of twine through the eyes on each end and hung the body from there.

I called and asked about my height restrictions before I made the purchase and he assured me it would work just fine. (insert smiley banging head on brick wall)

I do have a question for you. Why would you go from eye to eye with a cable instead of just hanging a ratchet from the eye? :Namaste:

Because that's 4 ratchets and I only have two. Also 4 adjustments needed to level the unit rather than 2 (once you get it centered).

Hey thanks HMG for the reps. I don't do hempy or know diddly about it really, but I do use led and wanted to chime in since I had the issue last grow with height max reached.

It's kinda sad really, for the amount of money we spend on these led's the companies should have enough insight to see this as a possible issue for many growers and just include a couple more cable hanging options that wouldn't mean diddly to their bottom line but make for a happier customer.

Agreed 420%. Thanks for stopping by and giving your thoughts I hope this will help other growers who have small spaces to be better informed before making the decision to purchase an LED.

I'm still trying to figure out what will work best in my area I have some hempy palnts and Coco plants going.

Oh yeah I never even gave you a proper :welcome:. I just harvested some so feel free to somke and have a good time. :peace:

Nice looking nugs! - Sorry to hear about the height problems. I too agree it's bullshit for how much money is spent on LED's...should be professionally done. I want to try LED with my small area, but that area is very "shaddy" with false claims and over charging.

I could make it work I just really think like Bass was saying they need to modify their design for hanging in a small tent or other area.

I think it could work really well if they made the cables like 2 or 3 inches and had 2 ratchet hook points instead of just one. I think this would allow the user to get the most use of the core coverage.

Sorry HMG, I'm a little late to the party but I have been reading up :)

I have done something similar to what Bass was talking about. I ran small linked chain from one end to the other and used two light ratchets to get my light to hang the way I wanted. The reason I used linked chain was because well, I'm damn clumsy and smack my head on my lights all the time. If they were just on string they could slide. This way I used S hooks to keep everything in place. Bass had a great idea.

Totally works. Anything to create more available height adjustment.
