Dusted’s Traditional Hydroponic Grows

After seeing the funeral over at Roosti's place, I thought I better do the dirty as well. The longer I wait, the less I will want to pull one of the WW. Since they both look the same I thought I would keep #1. Don't have to move the pot that way, and who wouldn't want the #1 seedling over #2. I thought I would show how much the root grew in 8 days by carefully removing it from the rocks. I'm legal now with four plants.

Week 2.5

The seedling ages are a week apart so I will split the difference. After increasing the nutrient concentration to full on vegetative, they greened up a bit. After a couple of days I decided they needed more light so bumped it up to about 85%. They responded nicely, but there was still too much lime green in the middle of the leaves by the end of the day, so I turned the light up to full power. That certainly got the grow room temperature up. It was running around 23.5 C mid day but after I cranked it, the temperature went up to 26 C. Enter the circulation fan pictured. I run it at low speed and it got the temperature back down to 24 C. The leaves are now all fluttering, and everyone seems happy. RH is running about 45% but dropping as the weather gets cooler outside.

The Strawberry Banana plants are way more vigorous than the Cream Caramel or WW. SB #1 has been droopy from the start with its huge leaves. #2 is a bit more civilized. Overall I would say the plants are growing faster with the improved spectrum, than under the Metal Halide I used previously. I will have to start thinking about adding some supports for the plants, since my tomato cages are too large to get under the light. I have some 3 foot long plastic dowel, used for holding up my roses, that should work.

I never go looking for bamboo poles until my plants are flopping over, so well done planning ahead! They're on their way to the good life.
I laugh because I do the same lol.

seedlings look great and needing to remove one is a good thing.

So much for having my first problem free grow. One of these days.

The LED certainly accentuates any problems in the grow. It looks like I have overfeed them and am getting some lockout. Just changed out the nutrients with lower levels. I don't check the tds of the nutrients since the concentration changes weekly. I didn't add any Mg this change since I didn't notice the Mg deficiency last grow until late flowering. I won't add any citric acid or kelp to the pump suction until I get the problem under control. I also turned down the light just a touch. I will still use sulphuric acid to get the pH to 5.8.

SB #1 I have started to call elephant ear with its huge floppy leaves. Getting some spots of necrosis on the leaves. SB #2 is also showing some spots but isn't as floppy and green. Cream Caramel isn't affected as much as the two Strawberry Banana. White Widow is stunted and has purple petioles. What a pain.

Toke report. I tried the THC Bomb which has only been curing for a month and like the results. I only vape my dry herb so I get a different taste than the smokers would. So far the predominant taste is pine. The buzzzz is very enjoyable. It is quite trippy and cerebral compared to the Critical Purple Kush I have been doing. Part of that may be the early harvest on the last crop.

I use the Airizer brand. My original Solo lasted 5 yrs. I replaced it with an ArGo. Liked the Solo better. I found 195 C is best for me. Friends of mine with the same thing prefer it cooler

I like hotter too, and 195 converts to 383 stroker in Fahrenheit haha
Chrysler reference? I preferred the 340 small block over the big block, but the 383 did grunt

I like getting the toke over with. At 195 C I get two hits with terpenes and three more pretty much finishes it. Just weighed how much I do about every hour. 200 mg at 20% equals 40 mg of THC. That is if the buds are 20% active and the vape extracts it all, and I adsorb it all. Let’s call it 20 mg per hour. No wonder I’m buzzed all the time.

Just over three weeks since the Strawberry Banana went in. They seem to have bounced back from my little attempt at poisoning them. Elephant Ear still has huge leaves and is too dark a green but otherwise seems well. The other SB has a slight mottling of the leaves. The red petioles aren't forming on the new growth so that's encouraging. Daytime temperature is about 24 C and night just under 21 C. RH is around 50% these days.

Day 22 - 27

They are starting to take off now. I had to stake up elephant ear since she kept tipping. I have never seen fatter leaves than on this plant. Even the new growth, which isn't influenced the bad nutrient levels I had, is darker green and the leaves are huge. SB #2 doesn't look like #1 at all. The Cream Caramel and White Widow are also showing health new growth. All of the damaged leaves have pretty much dried up so thankfully the new stuff is good.

I added the extra Mg again during the nutrient change today and gave them a dose of hydrated microbial spores. I'm still adding small chunks of mosquito dunks since it hasn't frosted outside to kill all the fungus flies flittering about and they get in on your clothing.

I may have to flip at 5 weeks, since the plants are loving the new light so much and I don't want to run out of head space. I guess super cropping is an option if they get unruly. I think the light spectrum and intensity fooled me into thinking the plants needed more nutrients when I poisoned them. They leaves seem have a lighter green colour than I am used to seeing under MH lighting. Except for elephant ear, which is closer to the colour I am used to.
