Isn't Lowenbrau one of your beers as well Duggs? I seem to remember it being a canadian lager, but hell I haven't drank any since 1990 (the night before we deployed to Saudi Arabia for the first Gulf conflict). That was a fun night with a beer I never saw again !!!

How'd you like that flight over to Saudi? I left out of Ft. Lewis WA. 22 hours later we landed. Full gear, packs and weapons sitting in those little airplane seats. That flight was the worst experience I've ever had on a plane.....sucked big time!

Not the worst flight I ever had! I had one I thought was going down. Talk about a pucker factor! Aside from a helo ride that almost didn't make it, the worst flight I had was to Japan......from Chicago. Had two kids screaming the entire 11 hours and kicking my chair from take off till 5 minutes before landing (they fell asleep....go fucking figure!). That was easily the worst flight I ever experienced from start to finish.

I guess I don't remember a whole lot of the flight due to the Lowenbrau. I just remember sleeping and a headache! Good times brother!

Still using C-130's ? as I remember NO heat, No Pressurization, Seats faced to the rear, SLOOOOO
Took 12 hrs to American Samoa and then another 12 to Australia and we started in Hawaii but as I
also recall we got there a day before we left.

Side note Australian Penny's are/were the same size as the AMERICAN Dime so there were many
Soda/Snack machines filled with them once we returned

Sorry I didn't see your 1st question. I flew over on an actual commercial plane, it was huge, like 10 seats across. The Government chartered commercial planes to fly troops overseas. I think it was a TWA plane. I had to come home on emergency leave and they flew me to the states in a C-5, from there it was commercial.

haha gotta love seat kickers. I was a blackhawk crew chief, I've had plenty of scary rides. especially over there. Those pilots are the best in the world but I admit they scared the shit out of me a few times.

UH-1H Crew Chief 67N among-st my other MOS's

Most of my flying was done on Helos......46E, 53E, Hueys. I did get to take two rides in Cobras, quite a few in KC-130s and even a couple COD shots off of carriers.

You want to talk about some good pilots....imagine doing everything you do on ground but now you are doing it on a ship ship that is moving forward and rocking side to side with the waves (which can be quite a bit). Them Naval aviators have some freaking balls!! Not taking anything away from non Naval aviators!
