Hey Duggan I was curious if you recall about how long you vegged for altogether. I reread the first post and didn’t find that info. Hope all is well in your world :passitleft:

I'm with OL, that's how I like to pop beans RR directly in the soil :thumb:

I was popping them directly in the soil, but after I had some 2nd run that cooked for nearly a year. that is when I had the problem.

I would say your safe unless you have some that has cooked for an extended amount of time.
Personally, I don't risk it anymore as some of the seeds I have cost $20 to $30 each

So KB you put the seed in the RR, then put the RR direct in your 1 gallon prior to actual germination? If so, I like that idea to protect the seed.

Thats what I did too, since I lost all my star pupil seeds... I put a pupil magoo in a rapid rooter and put that in the soil, she came up a few days later! I guess I too will start doing this each time I plant a seed... OL is right, those seeds can be expensive, and rapid rooters are pretty cheap!
Duggs just uses some plain PM, straight from the bag. He puts an inch or so on top and plants the seed in that, he has had great success this way.

I planted directly in the soil but it’s first run so I wouldn’t expect it to eat up the seeds. Is this the same thing that happens when you put dead leaves on top of the soil? What’s the purpose of the leaves anyway? :D Sorry I’m rambling on some new herb lol

Yep, pretty much... at least it seems as though the soil eats the seeds.
The leaves you throw in the bin is like a treat for the microbes. You just don’t wanna over do it. You don’t want too much organic matter in there or it could make the biota sluggish. It’s pretty cool to see the fungus take the leaves over, and devour them... let’s you know the soil is highly active!

Yes, no pre soak or paper towel method for me. Just into the Rapid rooter that's placed in the soil. Doc and dark had a joint journal and I believe they were throwing around the idea that a seed started directly in the soil will have an advantage over the seeds germinated with other methods. A seed placed in soil won't have to reorient the tap root growth and gives you an advantage at the beginning.

I don't use the kit, but I do something similar to Duggs. I put my Stank Soil at the bottom of the cup and throw about 2 inches of Bushdoctor Coco Loco and drop my seeds in there. I don't like to risk going directly in my soil so the Coco Loco (which is lightly amended but very mild compared to mine) acts as a buffer. Never had one eaten that way.

I remember that part of the apprentice journal. It’s what made me decide to try the seed straight in the dirt technique. I’ve used RR’s before and I like them.

:slide:Happy New Year Duggs, my Killer A5 Haze arrived yesterday, starting the New Year with A5 & Erdpurt a freebee. They are in soil. Do you know of Erdpurt? Anybody growing it?:hmmmm::Namaste:

Hey dynamo1, I grew some free Erdpurts a year ago. It was my first grow ever so knowledge is limited but it is a strong plant with the sativa spiral, huge fan leaves. Never had it tested but the thc seemed low and I would agree about the high cbd. Never had a strong smell but now that it has aged it is tasting better. I still have some and if I want a wake and bake it is my go to. The yield was low compared to the norm here, check out the pics in my journal to get a better idea.
Have a good day.

Great mornin to ya gang! Dyno.....WTF bud!! I guess i should go thru my germing process every now and then . Some growers have lost or are losing seeds planting directly into our soil. OK..first off,..this is only one way,..it's what i do ,..with 100% success. But, it's only one way, there are many. First thing is soak the seeds in a glass of warm water for about 12 hours,...or over night. This is simply to soften up the hard shell that's the reason for the soak. Next is to place seeds between a thick pad of wet paper towels until you can see a lil split in the seed...JUST A SPLIT!!!!!! Do not wait for the tap root to come out...plant it right away in your #1's. The #1's should have a couple inches of straight PM on the top....of our DBHBB soil.
The reason for the soak in the paper towels is just to verify validity of the seeds , so your not waiting and wondering if it's viable ....or not. This way you know 100% that it will sprout and grow. Cheers gang...hope this helps some growers.

Archie...i vegged for about 60 days....30 in the #1's....and 30 in the 26ers.before flip to 12/12. , which was last Mon/Tues.

Thanks for all the NYE good wishes too everyone...my gang...u guys all rock!:circle-of-love:
