Duggan Does Durban Poison & Chronic

While I have not yet topped a plant that way, I'm thinking 3rd is fine. I might have done 1st or 2nd even, depending on node length, etc. Does one use the shoots from the intervening node pairs (1st and 2nd) too, or strip them?

Thanks Gray! I have always done the first when I’ve done it before - and I can still take it back to there if I want. Have just read a few things here n there and curious what others have tried. What I’ve read suggests that if I topped at the 3rd say, then I should strip the first couple of nodes.

So let me ask you this then - do you top the side branches ever?
:smokin2:

I don't think that I have - as a technique at least. I typically just top once and then manipulate the remaining branches into a canopy.

You might have trouble topping side branches if they don't reach the top of the canopy. They may not grow at a fast enough rate to make it worthwhile.

:hmmmm:

Dunno.

With how we all grow , indoors , most do as Gray said, top once and LST for a low, wide , even canopy. It simply makes the most sense. However growing outdoors , where there is plenty of space,...and bright sunshine , it is most beneficial to top more than once, especially if you can always care for them, ie,..with support stakes, netting, etc.

Hiya AmyG

For the last two years outdoors in the ground, I have topped my ladies just once, and had 9 foot+ plants. Problem - how do you trim of moldy buds at 9'? Step ladder, of course. PITA. So next year, I will top more than once. 6' is good. Too tall isn't so good, at least for me. Cheers

@legendpenrose here is a journal that you can read and ask around about Docs Highbrix blend or know as “the kit” @Duggan has been growing monsters in The kit for a long time!

Hope you don’t mind Duggan! I was just talking about the kit with legendpenrose and I know you guys are better then me on the explaining part hhha

:passitleft:
It grows nutrient dense hi brix weed, all ya need to know so what's keeping ya haha.

What did ya smoke Duggs. I decided on some BCP.
Hey Van....was puffin some A5 and Thai Chi. Your choice of BCP was a good one...i like it too. Has a nice taste and feels good.

Happy New Year gang. Decided to flip the plants a few min's. ago. They are now on 12/12. I'm satisfied with how they've filled out overall , so far,...but the right side rear DP is under performing and doesn't seem to wanna snap out of it. She is a very poor pheno generally , and lacks all that we admire. A lot of her leaves are twisted, undersized and blotchy . Her sister, beside her is a real nice performer and seems to love our soil. The front pot with the Chronics are doing well , and now have enough , thicker tops to start bloom. Internode (alternating) distance is small on all four plants and i'm satisfied with overall health.
