Dr. Cannabi's Kali Mist - DIY Organic Soil - Medical Grow & Show

Wow. Congrats on that beautiful harvest doc! That looks extremely dank. :yummy: :cheertwo:

I know its too late but
1 cup lemon juice and 1 cup of baking soda in 5 gallons of room temp water. Sink branches and swirl around for about 30 seconds.
Another 5 gallons of cold water. Dunk and swirl for 30 seconds
Another 5 gallons of real cold water. Dunk and swirl for 30 seconds
Hang to dry. Ill never NOT do it again :)

I have a hard time believing that washing your buds in hot, cold water, baking soda and lemon juice is really a good idea. I know the bud washing has a big following on 420mag, but it has no following elsewhere. I see a fad, not a trend in budwashing. I'd like to here your take though.

I'm wrong all the time, lol, and please understand that this is just
My personal opinion.

Swirling in real cold water sounds like you'd better have a bubblebag ready to harvest all those trichs.

Man oh man .yum yum.
Congrats Doc.
Looks amazing.

Thanks Dusty! It smells so good too. I think it's the Amnesia haze that in smelling. Wish I could smoke out my 420 buddies. . .:Namaste:

Thank you :thanks: soilgirl, I can't stop looking at those buds. They're the biggest I've ever grown. :peace:

Hey doc. Beautiful...the trichome crust makes the buds look more silver than green. Great job!

The trichomes are bigger than any of the Indica leaning plants I've grown brightlight. There's more trichs and they have bigger heads. I woofer of that's why it looks silvery? :thanks:

Another great grow Dr, congrats ! They look, stellar :goodjob:

Thanks G! I feel so lucky to have this bounty of buds. The organic living soil is like steroids for our favorite plant. :volcano-smiley:

Thanks for the instructions scrubby!:thanks: I think easing is more for the foliar feeders right? I never even spray my girls with water so I don't think there's anything to wash off right? At least that's my theory. :high-five:

Good questions and discussion :thanks: CO! Not sure if you saw it or not. But I got some Bud rot on 3 of the big colas. Just wanted to let you know because you said you were thinking about growing her... :high-five:

Many congrats on your bounty! :)

Thank you LA :thanks: I still have miles to go till I can even see your shadow LOL. My next grow will include my first Flux attempt. You'll get to see a baby learning to walk lol. :high-five:

Thanks everybody! I'm super stoked with the results. :420: rocks!

In regards to bud washing....think, skin flakes, animal dander/hair, dust mites, dust, and whatever nasties float around in the air. Those lil sticky trichomes dont just give...they receive!

Just sayin guys :)

Thanks scrubby. There is definitely food for thought. Even AACT teas are a relatively new techniques in farming. I definitely have an open mind. I'll try it on a couple branches of my next harvest. Does it add more time to drying?

Not a remarkable difference Dr. Maybe an extra day. Try it to one good branch on your next harvest and do a comparison with an unwashed bud bro...youll see :)

Thanks scrubby!

I will for sure. I like being a guinea pig LOL. I'm kinda OCD though, so I'm glad I'll have a few months to research hehehe....

Happy Friday!

Happy Freetheweedday Doc:).......here comes another Public Service Announcement by Green Dreamz:) this pertains to the current bud washing discussion:)......i used it on one of my harvests.....minus the lemon juice and other additives......just as hot of water that came from the tap, another ice cold, bucket, and one room temp........now i was skeptical about it damaging the trichomes or just coming off.....i have a microscope.....so i looked at the first bud i was to do under the scope..was not horribly dirty, but there was debri.......then i washed it as directed.....got done looked at it under the scope again......the trichomes all looked as if nothing happend....did not see any that looked damaged and the bud was definately clean and had a slightly brighter color to it.....so i did the rest of the plant......dry time seemed to be the same..........i am sorry i failed to say i left one of the buds unwashed for comparison........now the taste.....i am not real good with picking out certain flavors and all, but i do know what good weed tastes like.....honestly....just my opinion..i didnt taste any difference after both cured ......my over all thoughts on it for myself is that it wasnt worth the extra time and mess that it adds to the harvest which in itself can be taxing enough:)......like i said this is my opinion and you can take it or leave it but thought it was relevant:)
Green dreams for everyone:)

A weed taste testing of sorts would be awesome.

Hey Dusty! We're on the same page. I'll get together a minimum of 5 friends and we'll do a full on blind taste test.

I'll report the results back for sure. :volcano-smiley:

about bud washing, until the last 6 months I'd never budwashed and always enjoyed my buds. Now I've washed quite a few times. I think budwashing being beneficial is really dependent on the plant... like, if it had pests, mold, was grown in a dirty room or outdoors in a dusty, windy area, etc.... then budwashing may really help. If I used any sprays or had pests on my plants, I washed them. And I'm glad I did; they turned out very nice, and got me very high, when otherwise I would have cringed to even think about smoking them.

I definitely don't think you lose enough trichs in the wash for that to be a valid worry. (as long as you do the wash correctly)

But, I think theres a big issue that most people don't notice. It's big to me anyways. A lot of flavor and aroma is lost during wash. Anyone that's washed, think about it, the second you submerge that first big cola, don't you get a huge rush of stunning aroma? Well I've noticed later when jar curing, it doesn't fully come back, at least not in that punch-you-in-the-face way, its like a shadow of the aroma/flavor that was there. And I also think why people say it's "smoother" is partially because of this - I think so many fresh terpenes are instantly lost in a wash that the smoke becomes dialed back and easier to inhale, wouldn't less flavor profile lead to an easier inhale? food for thought...

My new mantra is, if its a problem plant, wash it. If its not, don't.

I've kept unwashed samples from every wash I did until my most recent; and after a slow cure, the unwashed samples always had a noticeably larger/stronger/better flavor profile, whatever you want to call it, you got a better scope of how the bud is supposed to taste. And they made me cough more >.< the washed ones always made me cough less, but the flavor was subdued a little; the aroma very much subdued. But; both got me equally stoned. There's my budwashing rant lol, for whatever its worth.

Thank you GD. I love to hear experience. I really appreciate you chiming in. And now I'm for sure going to try it. The fact that you report no trichome damage makes me totally ok with giving it a go. I like to try new things even if they don't make complete sense to me.

I think scrubby was saying just use warm water as the first wash. Then go colder each time. Interesting that you went with very hot water for the first wash.

Thanks again for your input buddy!

Happy Friday GD!

Wow,

Thanks soilgirl! That is some really good experience right there. I really like your philosophy about when to wash and when not to. It makes perfect sense to me. Also, the aroma and flavor theory sounds solid too. Because flavor and aroma is so subjective, it's nice that you've tried this multiple times and have come to a real understanding of it's benefits.

I can see myself incorporating this same type of strategy!

:Namaste:
