Don't Panic, It's Organic! Jump In Everytime

Whatever man... :nomo:
So what's your explanation why the lo pot does nothing with even less load? You seem to know everything."Nothing expensive can't be broken man"

Are you saying that these drivers can't handle 4 of these strips with more than 600mA because that's what I'm getting and can't pump it up, nor can I turn it down for that matter. I'll try with 3 and I know it won't change a thing. It's not like I want them to be broken. I paid for them.

If you have 4 strips and they use 4 Amps you have an 80W light if you are using these strips. That's fine but how can Teleon get 493W light out from 10 strips / 2 of these drivers - around 80W from the reds he had. I don't doubt that he can because these drivers are supposed to handle 300W.

What drivers would you then suggest me buying to run 10-12 strips with 1.4A-2.1A if these are not sufficient enough and not broken?

"Nothing expensive can't be broken man"

I have the 48V version of these drivers, each strip can handle 1,6A but I just had them for support lights for my 3 growmouse 100W pucks so they are ~80W each.

If everything is wired correctly and you get these values there might be something wrong with the driver(s), I find this very strange though these drivers are so sensitive I'm surprised you get anything from them at all if they are busted. Hope you get a pair of new then and things work out, to get more power you just add another driver or get a bigger one and remember recommendation is to get a driver that supports over 1/3 of the draw.

Happy new year.

Vike, in that build for a friend are 10x LM301B Stripes, 5x each on a HLG-320H-20A, like on my little lamp, so one of the HLG-320H-20A just have max ~250W load, depends on how much light u rlly need.

The red/blue stripes uses the LCM-60.

Here u can see my lamp,

With 4 of the LM301B stripes at the HLG-320H-20A it must be able to do something with the Io adjustment...and again, I cant belive that 2 drivers are broken....that would be a biiiig coincidence.

And noooo, also a Meanwell driver can be broken....but I rather think that maybe the wiring or something else is wrong....

I'm with you in believing that the wiring might be wrong or that I've made some mistake since I've never build a thing like this before. However all the strips do light up. Voltage measures to be what I've set them to be. I think I've set everything up correctly. I find it extremely unlikely that both are broken but I can't figure out why nothing happens.

This is how everything is wired without any measuring devices. I've contacted Digikey and they are questioning me now via emails.

The connection should be correct....

In the pics a page before I saw that u once hat 0.51A and one time 0.85A at the stripes...so there is a difference!?
Yes the difference is because I measured 1 or 2 strips less because I tried if that changes something. When I took 1 strip off I got less current flowing but not because of adjusting the trimpot.

When I had all 6 strips it measured 5.1A coming from the driver so that's weird.

I have those strips but mine are 3000k

All the strips light up so I think they are soldered ok. I also tested continuity with a multimeter and got no shorts before turning it on.

Btw, if ur potentiometer is turning infinit u broke it.....those poti's are not very sturdy and should be handled very carefully.

Broke them on both?!?!
I guess it's possible. I don't think so. I set the Volts first on both and knew how sensitive they are. Hard to feel if they rotate infinitely. I'll try with 4 and 1 wago. If it doesn't work I'll send them back and buy new ones. Maybe some drivers with an actual wire I can hook up to a potentiometer.

Well its very obvious what's wrong here and that's the poti's on the drivers, they can be changed but it requires some soldering. You probably could put an external one on in place of the broken one on the board but It's not intended as a way of "dimming" the lights with. Btw don't do any continuity measuring in an electronic circuit, you could damage delicate semis with high voltage from a continuity tester.

It was "just" 170€ down the drain. Ordered on Nov 16th and the return form doesn't work anymore on the Digikey site. Their website and everything works like they are from the jurassic period. Customer rep can hardly type english... So many things about this whole ordeal is starting to piss me off. Maybe I'll contact Mean Well instead. Maybe I'll try fixing the trim pots myself, Idk. I'll just flower with the HPS for now. I can't do this anymore :D

If, u just need to buy the HLG-320H-20AB, there u can add a poti, for REAL dimming - the Io and Vo adjustments are just for finetuning, or for Io, a little "dimmfunction" but not the real deal from 0-100%.

Dont think u get the driver out of the housing....guess it's glued in, also for the IP protection

So u are sure u broke the Io poti on both?!?

Well I don't think I turned them so much that I broke them. It's possible. They do have a slight stop to them when I rotate them.
Digikey is sending me now their internal emails. "Issue RFE to have part returned. it will go back to mfg. for repair to be returned to customer per mfg. warranty policy ."

That was not meant for me but I'm guessing they will be sending me something and then I'll send them to "mfg?"
So I'll just wait forever next :)

So, time for a little Update :) :green_heart:

Had 3 Bonusseeds from Zamnesia (Bruce Banner 3) unfortunately 1 didnt poped and 1 died right after germination, so I had to add 2 more, also Bonusseeds (G13 Haze from my loved breeder Barneys Farm), both germinated and I putted them into 1L Airpots tonight, they are a bit behind, but i plan to top the Bruce Banner, so hopefully after the topping they should be at the same state of growth.

All is in my little Box as I mentioned before :)

@Vike in this box I got the HLG-60H-20AB version, and can dimm it from 0-100%, again a 98x LM301B from led-tech.de but on a different PCB, cooler included. It also has max ~56W.

and yeah, I'll tinker a box for that driver inlcuding a holder for the poti, gauge included :D

So far,

-Teleon :Namaste:

Looks perfect T, great with a veg box to be able to run babies in +12h cycle without needing to fiddle with timers. Buuuuut why not print a housing for the pot? :D
