Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I will look into it more. So far the heater is staying off while it is reading above the set point so I shall hope that it decides not to kick on until it gets to the temp I want to stay at.

Now if you were here you could crack the window, it would kick on in a few minutes... LOL

We just went through 2 weeks of temps no higher than 15 with it being in the single digits or negatives for most of it. This week started out in the 20s and peaked at 50 today. We are getting a lot of rain at the moment and then tomorrow it will be freezing rain and possibly snow again. WTF! At least most of the snow on my roof is gone now :laughtwo:

We must be neighbors Yeti. You just described the weather here for the past two weeks. Loved the warmth of the past two days but reality will be setting in shortly.

An idea about the cooling f needed at all in the summer, I attach the intake duct to a window AC, I was running that on a timer but using the inkbird to control it may be better.

The weather has been pretty crazy all over this year. it is pretty bad when even Florida gets the experience snow and freezing temps! My set up is in my basement so I cannot use a window A/C. I bought a portable one that works ok but it is 11,000 BTUs trying to cool the whole basement and fight the tents. luckily last summer I did not run it. Without running it my temps stayed around 82 at lights on. There were a few days where it spiked to 88 but fortunately it wasnt many. That same A/C offers 12,000 BTUs of heating but again it would be fighting to warm a decent size area and my power bill already sucks. I am going to hope the little one I got only has to run here and there to keep my tent where I want it to be.

Ok gang, just finished troubleshooting my newly built LED panel. Had her all wired and ready... but ran into a couple issues. Ol Yeti helped me out and with some additional trouble shooting I found that when I amounted these boards in my aluminum panel, the washers rubbed away the protective finish just enough to make contact and short the whole thing out. So I would recommend using small nylon washers under your screws or under your steel washers. Anyway, here are a few pics of what I'll be putting in my tent... and yea Thegreenyeti is right... even dimmed all the way down... you CAN NOT LOOK AT THEM... even with my led sunglasses, made for LEDs... still hurts to look.
Thank you Yeti for your help, I know I said as much in PM bit I'd like to say it publicly. Here are the pics:

I'll save myself the embarrassment... and not Include a wiring pic... looks like a mess...
I plan on building more of these in different sizes and shapes, so I'll be coming up with a nice way to run the wires. Like those little metal loops you can bolt down... but this one is for me and I'm not worried about it. Have a great day gang!! Ima go hang it now.

Looks Great cant wait to see what a full run under
these will do, Thanks for doing the testing for me :)

BTW Its always the little things, Hope it did not cause much damage.
Good you have the knowledge and Equipment to troubleshoot.

That's not the ANTIQUE TRADER under there is it :)

Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Thanks guys, In case anyone is curious... that's with the dimmer all the way down...
Hell yea Gazoo... I can hardly wait to see myself. I'll be building another with a single led board for veg with @ 4000k.
I'll let everyone know how well they perform.
Whatcha talking about Gazoo? The paper under the panel in the first pic?
Na, that's just a local circular...
you trade antiques?

Oh OK I was curious about the spectrum switch

Yes Been a "PICKER" from a very young age
Parents owned ANTIQUE store for 30+ years,
raised in it, can't seem to enter a thrift store
without buying something for resale :)

That panel looks really nice bud! You are welcome for the help. I am glad you were able to find the issue and correct it! Your girls are going to love all that light! :high-five:

Ah yes the spectrum... my bad. The three board panel are all 3000k and the one I'll put together once the driver comes in for veg will be 4000k. I love the clean light... it's much easier to take pics with for sure!

That's pretty cool you're a picker. I would be... but I just can't handle a lot of stuff around. It just seems cluttered... idk, that's just me. But I have a thing for old stuff... I can't help but admire the craftsmanship involved in older pieces, whether it be furniture or machinery of sorts. Cool stuff!

Nice dajerm, you'll never go back to prefab lights. I need to throw another one together this week for a project. With each build you'll get better and better at it and they'll keep looking better too.

Nice job ...

Hey, thanks Buck! Yea I think I'll
Be sticking to things I can make myself.
Like how I cut that piece out... that's just so it'll fit in the tent and I can take it up way further since it'll miss my filter and fan. That big ass 1200 won't fit in there... and it would probably get to hot anyway.
This panel so far, had it in there for a few hours now...
It's actually 2-3 degrees cooler than with my old light set up. Those were two cheap galaxy hydro lights I believe. Supposed to be 300 Watts each. No way they put out that much I tell ya. Total crap... but they were very cheap.
I definitely hope they get to looking better, I have a few ideas for the next ones. I put that swirl finish on this one and, unfortunately, don't like it. Oh well, it's all good.

On those boards dajerm, if you look closely you can see the traces kinda raised up underneath the white. Why I didn't use washers for mine, afraid of doing what happened to you. But these boards are tough. I gotta order some bigger drivers, i want to get some at 2100ma for my photon phantom boards. I've been really happy with them so far.

Yea that 1200 is a heater, puts off too much heat for me too, but would be perfect in North Pole in a 3x3, won't cover a 4x4. I don't know why companies lie about their product, I've went round and round with that Sara from them. If you question them they try to make you out to be the bad guy.

I have always been skeptical when LED lights list Watts.
It really comes down to the pull at the socket and i am
sure if I wanted to take say a 200w light I could make it draw
a lot more just by doing a bad build ? does not make it a better
light

EDIT: I really don't understand it so I am probably
looking at it all wrong. Just a novice point of view

Yes sir, I knew that was under there... thought I was careful enough. Guess not.. Learned my lesson though.. will probably still use washers, just to help spread the pressure a bit, but I'll put some nylon ones down instead.
I hear ya on the lies man... that's why I just bought those cheap ass lights to start. Wound up using them about two years! I knew they were lying, didn't know what company to trust. So I waited it out... very happy I did.

Yea, I just used my Kill A Watt and both those old panels only pull 140 Watts each.
I hear ya, I too am a novice at this but am reading and watching videos everyday!
