Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Thanks doc! Should i do the rescue right away? They got water 9 days ago. Still a little weight to the pots. Temp range is now 70-79. Not on a slab.

This is rescue drench right?
"1 oz. Transplant per gallon of water with 6 mils of Tea. Feed a solution with this composition to all the plants. It will re-colonize the roots and get things back on track. Do not do this if you aren't having any problems"

Plants are in#10's. Do you think 1 gallon each would be good or should in do more?

:thanks:

I'd say maybe a gallon and a half, 1/2 gallon dribbled down the top, the rest in the saucer to wick up. No foliar sprays in the meantime. Raise the lights just a tad and get the humidity up to about 55-60% lights on.

They'll come around. Look to new growth.

I have some problems Doc! I don't know what is F'd up, but something going down. My plants were dry with me being away for the holiday, but not excessively. I am coming off of Cat, Cat, GE, and because of some wilting when I got home yesterday I did a full water, plain water. I have yellowing happening underneath and some up top. I'm not sure if my soil is bottoming out and i have a nitrogen def. When I did my recharge I only added 2 cups of fresh EWC and that was 3 weeks ago. Cell phone pics, sorry. This plant was the same that I posted about recently with slight discoloration, it never looked better.

The yellowing is from drying out, Gaffle - no sweat. They look good! Nice leaf vigor and shine.

Done except that I don't have saucers under these plants, the pots barely fit in the tent.

One more question about my girl in bloom for 13 days, she's kind of pale, really light green and the edges of the leaves are turning purple. She got RO on 11/24, trans drench on 11/19, RO on 11/15, and RO on 11/10. The schedule would call for another RO and then GE but am wondering if I should do the GE next....? Or recharge and EWC plus RO?

Again, Rescue Drench.

But what's up with your environment? These plants look like they have cold feet.

OK thanks Doc! Both tents are in the same room so there was a couple days the temp got low about 10 days ago but its more stable now. The range is about 68-88, do I need to get that low number up? The other 2 plants in the tent seem to be thriving.

Can I get away with holding off on the rescue? The only reason I ask is because im now low on trans. I have more but it's in my storage space along with other extras since I have limited space and didn't want to leave it in my garage with freezing temps. Besides the pale light green color and purple edges, the plant is really looking good. It has also been a long while since it had any GE.

If I need to take a ride to get the trans I will but am hoping I can avoid that.

That environment is decent enough. No concrete slab either?

You want your plants to be able to sprint through bloom, and they can't do that without roots....so I highly recommend the Rescue Drench

No concrete, they're on wood floors and the bloom tent also has rigid insulation below it. This plant was in veg for a long time, pretty sure there are substantial roots but I will make the trip to my storage space tomorrow and do the rescue.

Thanks Doc! :adore:

Hey gang does 89 grams of recharge per 7 gallon pot sound about right? I had it written down at one point but lost it. Thanks

Never weighed it! I just split the whole bag into 4 plants with a powder scooper I have from protein powder jugs :)

Doc's reply ...

1.25 will work. 1.5 too. Right around those numbers.

It's more important to get a good mix of particles than it is to get the weight right.

Thanks for the quick responses. It was a bulk order and I cannot remember how much I have pulled out of it. I had split it as much as I could at one point but ran out of bags to store it in. I just try to be as consistent as possible with the recharge so that future mixes will be consistent. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Doc, I would like to know a bit more about the kit. I understand the regiment about what to use and when to use, but I am more interested in the whys. Because of this I would like to know if this ingredient list that is found in the DBHBB blog is still the same. Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought I remember someone saying that a brix spray should be done before a drench. With GE having the much needed calcium to achieve high brix I see the relationship between a spray to move nutrients from point A to B and a drench that supplements the Ca for the critters. There is a why. Obviously these don't have to be done in such a tight schedule for success, but I want a good regiment to build from. I plan to have most aspects of the kit down prior to my next grow. I really want to understand this process. As of right now there are additions that I do not understand. I do not know what would show in a grow to know why I would add bloodmeal or epsons. I do not intend to make any additions until I know why a certain course of action is needed. Building a base of knowledge is my goal.

First of all, I'm not in any way, nor are my products in any way affiliated with "HiBrix" from Australia. I use no chelating agents of any kind, all of my products are GMO free, all the way down the food chain.

So, here's what's in the kit:

Amendment: Carbonized Limestone, Soft Rock Phosphate, Organic fertilizer ( yeast based), bio-char, mycorhyzae, ammonium phosphate, copper sulfate, iron sulfate, kelp meal, some salt of molybdenum, zinc and 20 mule team borax.

Recharge: very similar to the Amendment but with a tad of magnesium added.

Tea: Liquid Humic acid with beneficials

Roots!: various rock powders, mainly limestone, gypsum and soft rock phosphate, with biochar, trace minerals a mycorhyzae that have been born and bred on the rock powders.

Growth Energy: Liquid calcium nitrate derived from naturally occuring chilean nitrate. Trace minerals.

Transplant: Cold water fish hydrolysate, chilean nitrate.

Cat Drench: fish hydrolysate from cold water fish, ammonium phosphate, ammonium sulfate

Brix foliar: fish hydrolysate, calcium phosphate, phosphoric acid, dextrose, kelp based natural plant growth regulators (PGR's...auxins, kinens, etc.)

DeStress Foliar: Kelp, phosphoric acid, PGR's, dextrose.

The "Why's" is a pretty big topic! The first 10 pages of this thread do a pretty good job. Read that and then ask me specifics?

Hah, yes I know how large of a topic this can be. I will diligently go through the first 10! I just don't want to run too blindly. Down the road I don't want to come to a point where someone asks me why are you doing this and using that and my answer is "Dunno".

Let's start with the Big Picture of why:

We recognize that plants are miraculously adapted to grow in living soil, in a symbiotic relationship with soil biota. That's the very first "Why" of High Brix gardening. Quite simply it is nature's way. High Brix is first of all natural and healthy.

That's the Big Picture: Grow the healthiest, most nutrient dense, terpene rich produce possible.

Now, I'll lay out the summary Big Picture of "How"

First of all we create a balanced, mineralized, high calcium, living soil based on achieving certain ratio's of major and minor nutrients in the soil. This is done via lab testing; no guessing.

We feed the soil via foliar feeding and drenching. The soil feeds the plant.

Those are the basic fundamentals. I used to talk about the 4 bases of High Brix, perhaps we should revisit some of that. However, those four bases are pretty much covered in the summary I've just made.

I think Yeti is asking about Recharge. It is about 1# in the kit. The amendment is 1.5#.
If I was dividing Recharge among 7 gallon pots, I'd give each 75 grams of it (well-mixed).

Doc, I've got a Northern Lights lady that is freaking out. I've posted about this plant previously - you suggested it might be cold feet/I mentioned that the root ball fell apart at transplant and that it might be shock. You concurred.

Six weeks of veg, currently 3 Days post 12/12 flip. Environment is steady, plant is raised a foot off the cement floor. Plant has been treated exactly like the other 11 re feedings, pruning, etc.

Note the following. Pic 1, 2 & 3: thin, wilted, crunchy, mottled, curvy leaves/leave lets. This has been going on from when it was a seedling. Suspected Tobacco Mosaic Virus, but not confirmed. The other plants do not have any symptoms. Note in pic 4 how the plant at the top looks healthy, etc.

I did flush this plant heavily mid veg thinking there might have been some nute lockout, but no change. Wondering if a rescue drench would be beneficial?

I think just be patient on that one. It doesn't look like the roots aren't working....just looks a bit weird. It happens.
