Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I guess I have been feeding light also. I was feeding drenches at 1ml per gallon of soil. That would explain some stuff. lol

Even that is heavier than what I used. I thought I understood this stuff OK, but 1 ml per gallon of soil would be nearly 50 ml, or almost two ounces for a full "kit" grow. At the 5 - 10 ml concentration, you could only feed two plants one time. What am I missing? We are all talking about gallons of soil - not water, right?

... what the next post says ... :cheesygrinsmiley:

:Namaste:

[Edit] How 'bout talking in terms of concentration? You're suggesting roughly a ... triple concentration then, Doc ... 4 times?

I guess everything breaks down once we depart from the "...per 6 plants" or "....per 30 sq ft of garden."

when I'm feeding my 6 plants, I mix 1-2 oz of drench (depending on strain. Colombian 1 oz, Grape Stomper 2 oz) per 6 gallons of water and give each plant a gallon.

So....1/6 to 1/3 oz per gallon=5-10 mils per plant. Correct?

I don't even bother measuring anymore. I just know how much to pour in the bucket....just a splash of the drench and a drip of the Tea.

I guess that explains why my plants in veg seem weak. I have been feeding 5-10 ml of drench to the soil in 7 gallon pots in flower and they always seemed to perk right up when I did that. In veg 1ml drench seemed fine for a 1 gallon pot at first but as my plants got older they got weaker, but I never changed the amounts cause I thought I was doing it right and wanted to stick to the instructions. All the problems I have been having makes sense now.

the 1.5ml is per gallon, for one plant in a gallon of soil. didn't seem that light?
Yep. Try 5 to 10 ml. For the first one 15 mil. Then your yellow will go away.

Ahhh... That explains it.
Boogy was asking about 1 gallon of soil. So if he was in a 7 gal pot, his regular feeding would be 7 ml = the amount you are recommending. When you replied to use 5 - 10 ml, I thought, "Holy crap, that's a lot!"

Yeah, I've tried to understand why people have so much problem understanding how to feed.

To me it just seems so simple: If 1 oz is right for 6 plants, then 5 mils is right for 1.

And for veg, you should be dunking them! Double the drench and let each pot soak and drain. Then you can use the leftover water in the bloom room, depending.

I never understood why people wanted to go by gallon. The lab goes by gallons/quarts per acre, which I reduced to 1 oz per 30 square feet. 30 square feet is basically a 4x8 tray.....the fact that we're in containers and not a raised bed means we need just a bit more sometimes....but 1-2 oz per full 4x8 tray works great.

If I was growing just 1 plant, I'd use 10 mils per gallon of water.

I just was going by that link I posted and what I have read multiple times on here. Towards the bottom of the page of the link there is example feeding schedule and I guess I assumed it was right, but now I know not to divide by gallons of soil and cant wait to feed some plants tonight the right way.

yeah, what I do when I feed ONE plant that is in one gallon pot, I just add about 1.5-2mil GE and then the tea. I see that's light now, lol, I should have figured that. Gonna just start feeding heavier.

That's what I would do. I have been going crazy trying to figure out some things that were going wrong. I want to kick myself. lol

If I was feeding one, single, solitary plant in a gallon container:

1-2 mils Tea
2-5 mils drench per half gallon or so. Pour slowly down the top and the rest in the saucer.

If dunking, double the drench amount, cuz there will be a lot left over and you'll need more liquid.

If one plant in 7 gallon container:

5-10 mils drench plus 1-2 mils Tea per gallon of water.

It's basically just using fractions:

30 mil=1 oz.
