Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I mainly grow in Coco now. When I used to grow outdoors it was in an organic mix.

The question I had was when you guys say "Doc Bud's High Brix Kit". Do you mean just his soil recipe, or does he sell custom products to go along with his basic soil plan. The word "Kit" is throwing me off.

DarkGreenGoo.. Yes, Doc has developed an excellent reproducible system with incredible results. Everything you need minus the plant, the Pro-Mix, and earth worm compost..
Even the Love is included! :)
Plus, his and his co-professors..me im a student :), are available here for incredible advice, suggestions, and more Love...free!!...the kit is an awesome deal. The results...STELLAaaaaaaaaa! (Im a Seinfeld fan).
The kit works if you let it be, do, and have what its supposed to.

Doc, do you think in addition to genetics, temperature, and probably pH?, that trace minerals ( as it does in hydrangeas -Al must be present to change them to blue) play a role in bud color especially in blue/purple strains and terpene production?
Also what would train wreck(TW) (you guess im growing, but unknown) smell like grown in HB soil? Ive never smoked TW, so not sure what to expect with the strain except great produce :)
Thank you!

Hi doc, quick question. Does it hurt the plant to run your lights 24-7 during veg?.

I wouldnt' run them 24/7 during veg....but there are advantages to cloning with 24 hours of light, namely that whoever uses the clones can put them on any photoperiod they wish without inducing any photoperiod stress.

FYI, here are my numbers for the past 5 months:

Clone 17/7
Veg 16/8
Bloom 11/13 The lights all come on within a couple minutes of each other, but the "nights" get longer as the plants progress from clone to flower.

I used to go standard 18/6, but I made some changes in order to grow Willie Nelson and I never went back to 12/12 because the plants seem to be doing just fine.

If I'm not mistaken the blue flowers come from lowering the PH in hydrangeas......Cannabis is different, and I don't think pH plays a major role....although it will have some effect. Everything else you mention is necessary for terpene/anthocyanin production.

There's a difference between a plant going purple due to night temps and one that produces anthocyanins. The latter is the true purple.

Trainwreck has a distinct "cat piss" smell. I've never grown it in High BRix, but I suspect it will have a more floral/fruity smell in HB. I'm not at all sure what you've got there is Trainwreck....the leaves are a bit broader than I would expect....but the crazy growth pattern reminds of TW.....and I mean that in a good way...crazy growth is fun.

I will also be running 11/13 in flower after listening to DJ short talk about pheno-typical responses that appear when doing this.

Also, please PM me about your High Brix Kit. I won't be able to respond until 50 posts, but I am very interested in more information.

Thanks!

PM incoming......what did DJ say about this topic?

Here is an article discussing photoperiod and inducing sativa phenotypes.

Very interesting. I like. Thinking im gonna make the switch on the time tonight.

11/13 and hang the lights high!

Edit: LOL crap! Somehow didn't get in there haha here:

Just to chime in about the photoperiod. Yes, 11/13 works great. I started with it when forcing my plants outdoor and it let me finish sativa-dominant strains in 33 days. In my last grow I went down to 10,5/13,5 and it works even better.

33 days for a sativa dominant strain? That doesn't sound right.

I just read the article. It's excellent.

Damn his trade secrets! I don't mind buying the "secret" but he should share it.

Oh my, I'll have some pics tomorrow.

Well as I said I'm an outdoor grower. This time won't be probably repeatable indoor, but for me it works just right. That's not a fantasy, everything is documented in my journals.
