Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hay I am in Ohio too and I know @Pennywise and @Derbybud are also in Ohio. Check your PM
Kentucky boy over here!

Man you guys live in places I would love to hunt! Lol

Where in the holy hell are you people , paying $80 a bail for promix? it's &38 in Ma. !! Someone's ripping you off !!

I feel like the further south you go the more it costs. A lot of it probably has to do with shipping costs. I can get bales for as cheap as 24.99+tax right up to about 34.99+tax. Just depends on how far I want to go. The cheaper one is about a half hour drive while the more expensive one is 5 minutes down the road.

I might be reading this wrong but it sounds like you have 2 kits of soil but should have 4. Can you show us pic of your totes? Not sure the wood is needed...? My totes are 27 gallons so 1 kit fits in 2 totes.

Are your pro mix bales 3.8 cu ft? I would love 4 bales for 100! I pay twice that.

Right man i woukd love that deal i gotta pay like 30 bux an its only a 2.0 bale so gotta get 2 of them for one kit lol.

A good chunk of it is shipping I’m sure. They jack the price up and say free shipping. Lol. Nearest grow shop to me is over an hour away and I’m not sure they carry it. Might look into it the next time I need some.

Right no duh ive always thought tht was stupid lol. I mean shit used to be cheaper then all of a sudden the price gets jacked up an they say free shipping but im like no its not we jus have to pay for it in the pricing now. Lol stupid word games jus so company's can charge more for other shit. I tried to order some promix hp cause i cudnt at the time sorce it locally. Cause i to have 2 go over an hour away to go to my grow shop haha. But man is it worth it i love tht place lmao. But yea i tried to order some pm hp w/myco and it was guna cost me a 100 bux for the actual bale of soil plus 160$ for bulk shipping an i was wtf no way am i guna pay 260 bux for one bale  . So thats why i ended up using the sunshine mix #4 soil to make my first few kits. But it ended up having to much organic matter in it so ive been having issues with some of my plants kinda burning up. But it still makes some hella bud an it turns out better then any of my other stuff so guna keep using it till i hit round 3 with all the kits. I got 2 kits left tht r on round 2 rite nw. Then i will ditch it an start fresh with pm hp nw tht i can get it. But yea its not cheap even still buying it locally it will cost me between 60 an 70 bux im guessing cause ill have to buy two 30$ bales cuz its only a 2.0 cubic foot bale. But still cheaper then 260 damm dollars lol.

And so it was written!:surf:

And on the 4th day at 4:20 he rested hahahaha

I pay about 45 at my local nursery but is BX so I have to get perlite too. Last time I was there I snapped a pic of their supply.

Cheers!:passitleft:

Yea thats what my place looks like lmao. So wait u can use the bx stuff for the kits u jus need perlite so if i had say this lol i wud b ok gettn the pm bx stuff then?

A few things:

1. I highly recommend no less than 7 gallons of soil for bloom, per plant.
2. I do not like fabric pots....roots don't grow properly and the plants can be stressed when the roots are constantly dying.
3. I highly recommend starting in one gallon pots and transplanting once.....
4. I highly dislike solo cups, for the above reason and because lights comes in and messes with the roots.

Going from one gallon to ten or two gallons to ten won't make much difference in yield, but the extra transplant often causes un-wanted stress and can harm your efforts.

My advice would be to start in 1's, transplant once into 10's and live happily ever after.
Thanks for the input doc. I highly respect your input on this matter of up potting 3 times. You said that that the yield difference between using a one or two gallon starting pot wouldn't be much. How does starting with a one gallon vs two gallon pot effect yield? I could possibly start in two gallon pots. It's my set up I have that constrains how things can be done. Just trying to get the best results with the limited room I have in the veg room. A noob like me doesn't think about things like the plant be effected by up potting it. I thought small root ball in solo cup. Little bigger root ball in the one gallon and so on...

Yield is really predicated (genetics notwithstanding) on veg time. If you want more yield, veg longer.

I have a HOT question I need answered fairly quickly if possible. I just opened my tea I got last week and took a wiff. This time I was hit in the face with a strong ammonia smell and need to know if that's normal or an issue. I've never smelled that kind of ammonia from it in the past and was getting ready to do a 13-plant dunk. The last thing I can afford right now is killing/stunting/hurting two rotations. It would be crippling.

It's normal. Not a problem. Dunk on!

I can only say be very cautios Gov.
Ammonia is a sign if mold , so be very wary of using it. Hopefully Doc can chime in and offer some guidance.

Tea has always smelled of ammonia because the only way to stabilize it in the bottle is.....ammonia. I used to say if it smells like a drunken bum who pisses his pants several times a day and lives under a pier, it's normal.

No problem amigos.....Tea won't go bad.
