Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Thanks for the clarification Doc. I don’t think I posted the question earlier so no need for an apology. So essentially the older the soil, the less often it gets Brix.
Thanks for all of the years of research you’ve done. I’m so grateful to have found this community. I’ve dug back into your old grows, even use Osmocote + on my non brix plants haha! Much respect. :thanks:

appears that i've managed to save all the strains. new growth is perfect and I've been taking clones.
:bravo::welldone:
Brix should be used every week on First Run soil, every 10 days on Second Run, and every 2 weeks on Third Run soil. Those are guidelines....obviously there can be other factors at play, but if things are going normally, that's how it should be done.
:thumb::thanks:

Leaving them alone is always an option.....they may very well straighten right out. They're healthy in every visual respect except a bit of downturned leaves. Leave 'em be and concentrate on the environment, watering tech, etc.

Lol that was what my gut instinct told me 2 do to. Before I even got back on to read every1s input I was thinking jus leave em an improve environment man I must be learning sumthn here.

Ok so I have a few questions not related to the above mentioned issue.
A. when I go to flip my girls should I uppot to ten gal cloth pots then flip right away that day or should I let them sit in the 10 gal. For abit b4 I flip?
B. I noticed the bottle of destress says it can be used at half strength for faster rooting of clones. Does that mean I can use it in my bare roots cloner bucket? And would i put it in the water or spray the clippings on top of there leaves?

Thanx every1 for all the support and makn sure I have a great harvest and just lookn out I really appreciate the love every1 :Namaste:.

Hey there Blaze, so the flip at transplant is more a personal decision really. Some like to let them grab hold of that new soil for a week or two then flip. Some like to just flip right away, really depends on how full your space is and how much fuller it will be after stretch, etc... I usually flip right away, so they dont get too big.

As for the De-Stress, you just want to give them a miss under the leaves. You can save the De-Stess in the fridge for a week or so. Just smell pot before each use, and maybe warm it up before you spray if its been in the fridge... IDK how they would like that blast of cold! Maybe just set it out an hour or so before hand.

Hope this helps, have a great day!

In my garden, I prune the plants, transplant and flip them on the same day. Some of my plants come out good. So, you could do that and be fine.

As for the water cloner.....I'd hesitate to add DeStress to the water. Test it first and be prepared to retreat and sterilize the cloner......or maybe it will work great? I don't know because I don't like water roots. I like to clone in a plug or in dirt.

If you want awesome buds, the idea is to maximize every step along the way, which means taking pains to get amazing roots in veg, which means no water roots from a cloner. That's how I look at it. Others use them and like them. I don't.

When I used an aero cloner in the first days of my kit experience, I killed all my clones in the cloner with destress spray...it may have been mixed full strength, I don’t remember. At the time I chalked it up to destress must work only with plants in kit soil. I never did more testing with it though, so have back up clones if they’re special to you.

I gave up the cloner as well, as just as Doc pointed out, each step builds on the next, and great roots are an important step. I still have the cloner though, and use it if I’m going away for more than a week. It can support freshly cut clones, unattended for 2-3 weeks. Just put a UPS backup on the pump circuit.

At the end days of my using the cloner for all my cuts, I had the best success transplanting the clones to kit soil, with Roots powder, as soon as I saw a white root knob form on the clone in the cloner. This minimized the amount of water roots. The trick I found with the cloner to get close to 100% success rate, was keeping the reservoir on the basement floor to keep it cool, but the clones in a 80-84*f air around them.

I use plugs now, and with a weak destress spray, and a heat mat, I get roots in 5-10 days.

I used a Dewey for a few months, but it didn't do any better than cuts in cups of water. :hmmmm:

I can keep cuts for weeks on end, just sitting in a cup with an inch of water. No difference that I could tell.

And the cups don't make noise and don't use power.

Dunno ... (we need a shrug emoji) ...

:)

Good point graytail! I have a friend that starts all his cuts in water. He also puts pussywillow cuts in there as well, they have a natural rooting hormone that speeds up the process.

Excellent. I kept cuttings recently and have them in water like a vase of flowers. Very pretty. I’ve been wondering what the likelihood of any of them sprouting roots is...
They'll root in water with no issues. Best to change out the water every couple of days, though! ;)
:goodluck:

Doc I'm fighting gnats, BT has not worked, will yucca extract mess with the soil mix/ratios or the biota. Do you have any recommendation? :Namaste:

You're sure they're in the soil?

I'd chuck the soil, but if I wanted to harvest something I might try an experiment:

Coat the top of the container with Roots! You'll need quite a bit of it, but get it all covered and do not top water again for a while. Use a saucer and just let it wick.

Prune the plant back as much as you can, preserving the tops and only removing lower branches and innermost bud sites, and so forth.

Cover with an inch of fine perlite.

If they're eating leaves, use Leaf Wash every 3 days, for 3 applications. You can mix it a bit weak, but not 1/2 strength.

If this works, don't water all the Roots! in at once. Just a partial top watering on one small patch, alternating with each watering.

If they're fungus gnats, they hate dry soil. Also, any fungus hyphae that come into contact with Roots! will get their asses kicked, so that should stop the gnats from trying to breed.

Is this good funk or bad funk? Plastic pots in saucers and for drenches I fill the saucer and let it wick up.
