Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hi Doc, I’m posting here bc I’m not sure if you’re checking email during the holiday break or not - I know there’s a lot on with moving the garden!

I think my package maybe stuck in customs (FYI for folks I’m having a custom amendment sent - along with some replenishing kit supplies, doc posted it on Dec 7).

The main, immediate challenge this is presenting is that the 2 plants that are destined for that raised bed are in desperate need of transplanting. One in particular that was super vigorous until a few days ago has started to fade very quickly (in leaf and stem). Plus, the solstice has now passed and they will make the transition to flower sometime in the next few weeks. They need the bigger bed.

I want to know if it would be a terrible idea to go ahead and transplant them into the raised bed as is, and broadcast when/if the amendment arrives.

It’s a long term process building this soil, so we know it’s not going to be perfection straight up this season. So I realise it’s not an ideal thing to do and I’m ok with that - so long as it won’t do anything totally disastrous.

So - will the plants survive if they’re already in the raised bed when the broadcast gets applied? (Assuming it gets here!)

Thanks Doc!:thanks:

:Namaste:

My guess would be give them a good strong transplant drench when you put them in the bed and then get the other on when it arrives, waiting to see how close I was now.

Cheers Duggs - I’ve kind of done that part already, 2-3times! Lol! Which is why I’m here now. The time is fast arriving at a critical juncture... :hmmmm:

Well, we can't control customs, or international shipping schedules. Sad but true.

I'm posting what I answered you via email for the benefit of everyone.

Hi Amy,

I'm following the situation as well. I've been told that due to the holidays, overseas shipping is massively backed up. It cleared customs here......

If I were you, instead of doing a substandard practice, why not take clones of what you have right now and when the kit arrives you can save it for the clones?

In the meantime, you can plant those suckers any way you'd like since they're all cloned?

Sorry about this.....I get things packed and shipped pronto but I have no control over the post.

Doc

So basically I'm saying to grow out what's necessary and wait until the goods arrive to do things correctly, without guessing and with the best chance of success.

It's very sad that things can ship in a week sometimes, other times it takes a month.

Thanks Doc. I understand... bigger picture wise I just hope it is just stuck due to holiday crush and not ‘seized’ never to arrive. So fingers crossed it gets through.

I’m not really in a position to clone. And timing wise, well, I’m outdoors and the light cycle is rapidly changing so they’re gonna do their thing soon anyway.

Are you suggesting I don’t put them in the soil you tested for me then? I’m a bit unclear what you’re suggesting (apart from the cloning - which isn’t an option for me).

The amendment is for one small raised bed. It’s outside so only has one grow cycle per year. It’s now(ish) or never to grow in it this season - and I do need these meds in a few months.

I have seeds for future runs so am not worried about losing the genetics, I’m concerned about growing out this summer crop to some acceptable meds.

I have a few in pots in the kit soil, so that will be all good.

It’s only 2plants that were slated for the raised bed.

When you say “substandard”, are you referring to adding the amendment once the plants are already in the bed?

Would that be worse than growing them out without any High Brix products?

I don’t have anywhere else to put these plants... so while I could maybe buy some time in slightly bigger pots, it would be without kit soil ... but maybe that’s an option?

:Namaste:

Doc and fellow brixers- a belated Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

Doc, if there’s anyone that can "fix things", it’s you! I’m confident you will work your magic and have that LP back in top shape. I’d echo some of the others who commented on having a "back up" of the LP - just in case. After nearly 30 years in IT, I learned the importance of having a back-up in the drawer, one in a safe and one off-site. Hey, maintaining a strain as significant as LP with a solid back-up protocol is as important as any data set!

Please keep us informed of your progress. Also, I think all of us would appreciate hearing about your set up - lights, gear, etc. - in the new room.

Thanks for all you do. The best cannabis is yet to come!

Here's my contribution to the best: Ace's Bubba Hash.

Dam bro those look amazing great job. What lights did u do these bad girls under if u dnt mind me asking?

Well I certainly don’t hold anyone (you) responsible for the delay that’s for sure!

I’m just trying to manage the challenge it presents me within what’s possible - and understand the possible impacts of the options I have available. So bear with me please :Namaste:

Let’s say I did the very non ideal thing by putting the plants in the raised bed, added the amendment whenever it gets here, and grew them out with the kit products, would that impact badly in any way on the soil build going into the following season, because that’s my main concern.

The way it is now, I’m either doing that or I’m putting them in small pots in non kit soil - and it’s not even a sure thing that this is physically possible to achieve, so may not actually be an option at all.

Either way these 2 plants won’t get an ideal grow out but maybe a substandard Brix kit grow is still better than the other options.

And - seperately but related. I need to know if a super Drench is in order here.

This Critical Mass has been a sprinter from the start. Very sturdy, vigorous etc.

4-5 days or so ago it was still looking brilliant, like this (NOTE- the white stuff is gnatnix, i’ve had it here for weeks, underneath is all kit soil):

It’s had quite a growth spurt and some drenches since (1 TP and a plain/transwater)

Then it started showing light fade (2 days ago)

And today - more fade, eating its large fans?. It’s happening pretty quickly it seems.

We’ve had super hot weather (I’ve been giving some ice and keeping them shaded at the pot level), plus the growth spurt so clearly the plant is powering harder than it’s power source can handle.

All pots are due for a drench and I’m wondering if this Critical Mass could use a super drench.

For reference the other 2 plants look like this:
Candida (darker green than the light shows here)

White Widow:

They’re all at 48-49 days.

SO that’s a double barreled post:

1 - Wanting to know the impact on the “substandard” option on the raised bed soil going forward into next season.

And 2 - wanting feedback on whether the Critical Mass could do with a rescue drench.

Thanks Doc! I totally don’t like having these fiddly issues to be hassling you with - but things dont always go to plan do they!? And then workarounds have to happen.

Appreciate the support :thumb:

Hey guys I have been having some issues with gnats lately and picked up mosquito dunks. My question is how do I use them properly to take care of the gnats. Do I just throw one of the dunks in say 5 gallons of water and then use the water? Do I have to let it dissolve or anything before use? Any helpful tips would be appreciated.

:thumb:I have mine floating in a 50 gal water barrel, I also have them in a pitcher and refill with water when empty to try for higher concentration BT:slide::Namaste:
All I have on hand is 5 gallon or 1 gallon jugs. I can fill the 5 gallon up with ro and throw it in and then refill it as I use it. Would that work out ok? I am still wondering if I have to wait a certain amount of time before I use the water after adding the dunk. Thank you for your response.

Can't wait to get my grubby MIT's on this leftout420 is determined to get my on it... See how big I can get some buds to show of haha

Hey guys hows the new year treating every1 so far hopefully good and may the new year be green an frosty and full of stinky sticky greatness lol happy new year every1.

Ok so I also have a question about one of my auto girls. I have a gorilla glue #4 auto that is just starting to show signs of entering flower stage an is do for a growth drench. What i was wondering is there something else I should do to prep her going into flower or should I jus go ahead an do the normal growth drench and then next week or so when she is dried out start her on her flower schedule?

Thanx every1 for the help so far man i love this kit my girls look so dam healthy lol. I have 2 gorilla glue #4 autos going right now one in the kit and the other in a 5gal dwc hydro setup. An my highbrix one is like twice the size of my hydro lol so now I'm wondering about yield which if everything has been bigger and healthier so far I'm guessing the yields will increase as well atleast let's hope right lol. But yea normally I keep my hydro dwc buckets for my autos but from the looks of things I'll prolly be switching up to a full hibrix garden n drop the hydro altogether lol.
