Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

We haven't had any rash of complaints in a while....and a lot of folks have switched to plastic pots, instead of fabric. I really don't like what those fabric pots do to root development....it's a flawed idea.

Also, did you yourself mix and cook the soil?

No I didn't, the soil was mixed by SweetSue. She gifted me a whole batch of unused soil when she switched to hempy.

I also noticed a few mites today. Not looking for them, just routine inspection, I turn over one leaf and there was one crawling around. I saw no signs of heavy infestation, but......
I became irate and pulled her. I have no patience dealing with them again with a plant that wasn't preforming well.
When i dumped out the bag, it was loaded with a good root system.
I may have acted hastily, but I was still fuming from loosing 2/3 of my outdoor plant to bud rot and tiny worms the other day.

I transplanted a Greenhouse Jack Herer into another bag giving this batch of soil one more shot and noticed a few reeeeeal small white bugs on top of the roots powder when I opened the container. They looked like very very small white ants, they dug in before I could get a good look at them. Maybe they were in there when I used it on the last transplant and caused the problem? I pitched what was in the container and used some fresh roots from the original bag.

Dude, Yikes.

I'd pitch that soil, start fresh! Sorry for your loss. :passitleft:

I can't really offer much support here HH. We don't know how the soil was mixed, stored, etc.

Ditto the products and how they have been stored, etc.

Anytime you want to do it right, let me know.

Thinking about storage,

I used my batch of liquids which are probably 3 years old, kept in a cool to cold garage.

Since I already transplanted the JH I will try using Sues liquids which should be a bit newer.
If the JH never prays up like she should in a week or two, the whole batch goes in the compost pile.

If it was me, I'd wet it down when you mix it and let it cook the whole time. Then when the 30 day window comes up, just check its moisture level and add if necessary. I have soil I mixed in June, that I'm just getting to now.

:bongrip:

I have 1ST Run I mixed a year ago that is still good, but it has been in a bin with a
Jump Start Seedling Heat Mat under the bin and the matching Auto temp controller
monitor attached, only had to add water Once to keep things moist
Stays between 71 F to 78 F or 75 average temp

Oh the Bins are sitting on two chair seats, 15 or so inches off the floor
and have a sheet over them
I do have a cement slab floor but this arrangement works great

I dont have a whole lot of experience... but kinda looks like she sat in some water too long? Looks like wet feet to me...
I don't have experience with the Kit but certainly resembles wet feet to me. That was my first thought when I looked at the picture. Take my opinion with reservations though....again no experience at all in the kit. Looking forward to seeing what Duggs and the experts recommend.

hmmmm 65-80

mine was in the shed out back and it got into the 90s in there a few times this summer, could this have affected mine Doc?
And it never really ate up the trim leaf like other batches of soil I've had.

...so, Doc...one week to the day, parcel received...:thumb::high-five:...looking forward to a new adventure...also received another package as well...good day...all set for next spring...:yahoo:...just wanna say, if any other Canucks have problems sourcing Wiggle Worm EWC's locally...found a place in Mississauga with a decent deal, with free shipping(over $59).. Indoor Growing Canada....got 60#'s for just over 90 bucks...delivered less than a week over 1200 miles ...may sound a lil' pricey, but I was paying about 30 bucks US on my semi annual trips to Minnesota, so I'm good with that...Thanks again Doc for running a reliable and supportive business...:thanks:...

Hiya all! I am scrubbing up my notes...wanted to run this bit by my senior Brixers to make sure I have this right on using the recharge and cat drench? I'm prepping for my next grow. I'm hoping to tie it all together during my next grow and get my timing right!

Do I use Doc’s Recharge just when pistils appear or is it 3 weeks after the first pistils appear? I used 2.5 ounces per plant. I sprinkled it on the surface and scratched it in and watered, but I'm not sure if my timing was right. I recharged at about 2 weeks after the pistils appeared when they were starting to really gain some super growth.

I think I have the Cat Drenching right...start in bloom when you see pistils everywhere and the buds are small and forming, about 4 weeks after initial pistils appear. Do two cat drenches in a row, no water in-between. I was planning my cat drench when they dry up a bit. I probably could have done it a little sooner, like my last drench.

Here are my 2 gals now. Thanks guys!:thanks:

Looking great LG, while I am no vet Brixer I do know the recharge is 2-3 weeks after transplant. I dont think I have heard of X amount of weeks after the pistils start to form...
As for the Cats, the timing can vary quite a bit... you want the buds to be set, but not too developed or too underdeveloped. I think the best way to say it is Apply your first cat when the buds are formed (meaning they have their bud like shapes now) not when they are still fluffs of pistils. I think there are some here who even experiment with the timing with the same strain, to see what time frame seems to work the best for them.

Can also post some pics in here... if you want.

Cool! Thanks dajerm! I think I hit it right then. I have a bad habit of overthinking and not trusting my eye.

Works for me! The timing is a general guideline....obviously you don't want to wait too long.....neither do you want to do it too soon, before the roots have had time to find every inch of the pot.....about 3 weeks after starting the bloom cycle is a good starting point.
