Beautiful plants as always Doc.

I LOVE your wine comparison, I am 100% with you on quality over quantity... Maybe living in a state that is so progressive when it comes to Cannabis has changed my outlook on things, but I much rather have an extremely flavorful non harsh smoke than some run of the mill pot. I unfortunately haven't had the opportunity to taste HB weed... unless my favorite dispensary grows in High Brix... which wouldn't surprise me.

They are very secretive about how they grow unfortunately. I was in a conversation with one of the bud-tenders and he actually called the Head Grower at their warehouse so I could ask if they grew in High Brix, and guess what he told me.... PEAT MOSS.... that is all he said. I am assuming he just figured I wasn't educated about growing (why I would be asking if it was High Brix as someone uneducated on growing is beyond me). But yeah, unless I am missing something I am pretty sure he doesn't want people to know how they produce such high quality medicine.

Have you run into any feelings of exclusivity in your years as a High-Brix grower? I am all about sharing the information and love with everyone, but with something as successful as H.B. growing I guess I would understand if people weren't too keen on sharing their secrets.

Thanks ahead of time Doc!

Maxyields,
Doc Bud has done exactly that..he and so many HB growers are more than willing to share their knowledge. :)
There are many journals posted here on 420 that are HB grows..

I know, the amount of information and friendliness on this website is ASTONISHING sometimes... Doc Bud in particular has gone above and beyond by making his Kit open to the public. I am so happy that I live in an age were I can find so many like minded individuals in one place.

I say it all the time, but really this place is amazing.

I posted that refractometer question before I read 5 hours on this yesterday. I figured that out after reading 40+ pages in your how to. Funny by the way.

Crazy how important brix is in the world of fine produce. I've heard of this growing method before but wasn't familiar thanks to Graytail for the heads up and doc for all required information and his kits. I will be entering a few entries into cup using high brix. But I'll also be doing runs side by side with the high brix using my house and garden. And if I am pleased with the results which I'm pretty sure I will once the H&G is gone I'll just continue on with high brix.

I am a Classical Liberal as far as my personal philosophy on life. Please don't confuse that with a modern "liberal" like Obama. I'm cut from the same cloth as Thomas Jefferson, a libertarian through and through.

Because of that, I believe in open source technology, so I share what I do freely. My products cost money, as does everything else, so I've found a way to match prices with the few others who sell these products and I've chosen to focus on the cannabis market.

There are no secrets with me. I figure if I set the bar at 8 feet, and get everyone else to jump 8 feet, someone is going to make it 9 feet, and we'll all hit 9....then 10, etc.

Secrets create stagnation in the realm of ideas. That's not how we move forward as free people, conducting commerce that is mutually beneficial! Secrets invite hackers and thieves. Honesty breeds more honesty and what's to steal if it's all open and honest?

Well Doc Bud, as if I didn't already respect you for growing such amazing Cannabis Flowers.... I definitely respect you for your association to such a Renaissance man like Mr. Jefferson. Not only one of the smartest most influential men to ever live, but he also enjoyed cultivating his fields with Hemp. In fact he was an AVID hemp grower, just like George Washington... Although I respect Big G.W. less, he did have notes on the cultivation and SEPARATION of female and male hemp plants.. suggesting he might have smoked Cannabis. (so crazy that some of the greatest people in history had connections to Cannabis when it so "harmful" huh everyone?? haha)

Good on you for believing in open source tech. How else are we supposed to make progress if its an arms race to find and keep secret the best growing methods. You did the right thing by entering the Horticulture market with your High Brix kit... and not to mention the sound financial plan of marketing it towards Cannabis Growers. I have to ask, do you market it at all to say... the Vineyards in your area?

You've definitely set the bar at 8 feet... and from what I can tell from this forum, many a person is trying to make that 9 foot leap. Thanks for the prompt response, it's so refreshing talking to educated people about Cannabis... unfortunately the stereotypical Cannabis user is a 20 year old burn out... Meeting people who can entertain a conversation about Cannabis without only talking about how "f&#@ing high" they get.

Keep doin your thing my friend.

:thanks:Doc, I thank God for the opportunity to watch and learn what cannabis growing truth is. I'm always asking myself "what is truth". You have been a great influence on my life. You speak to my soul. I read your posts and they sometimes bring tears of joy and hope. As a former Marine I would go to war for you, I know I'm not the only one. Of any one i've discovered online only the great Ron Paul has had more of an influence on my life.

Wow I am with you on the wine comparison. I want the healthiest best tasting meds I can get my body is already fighting itself I don't want another thing that my body has to fight. You might have already covered this in your q & a thread but how long do you flush for before harvest or do you even flush

Thanks Max!

We have naturally occurring "calcareous" soil here....limestone rich without doing a damn thing. That's why the grapes so good!

I do have several customers who grow insane veggies for some of the restaurants here as well as one locally famous restaurant owner who also owns a farm from which they source most of their fresh produce. His tomatos taste like candy....it's extraordinary. His place is booked every single night.

He uses old-fashioned recipes his family brought from Italy and everyone wonders what his secret is....why does even his salad taste so good? What's in that dressing? LOL.

Ingredients! Remember those? It's not the seasoning that gives flavor, it's the produce!

BTW, did you know that the very first law in the US to mention cannabis was an order that every farmer cultivate a certain amount each year? I'm quite familiar with TJ, and GW and their hemp/cannabis operations. Let's hope we can all get back to that before we cage and kill one another.....

Ron Paul is my hero. Nuff said! :high-five:

To even be mentioned along with him is an honor I don't deserve. My most humble thanks....

This plant, the love of its cultivation, the wonder at its beauty, the amazement at its many benefits to the body, mind and soul....this does not divide us. No, this plant brings us together, puts us all on common ground; rich, poor, healthy, ill, old, young, every race, every religion....we all stand side by side with goodwill towards each other when we have this lovely plant in common.

Ahhh very interesting... I knew that area was a magnificent place to grow grapes due to the soil, just not what aspect of the soil! Those customers of yours sound very cool.. I must admit I would LOVE to try a High-Brix Pasta Sauce :rofl: Does said Locally Famous Restaurant Owner advertise how his vegetables are grown? Or just that its local?

And yes I did know that (well not that it was the FIRST law)!!! Honestly, even more interesting than the cultivation of Cannabis is the history of WHY its illegal. The forefathers had their shit together when they enacted the law you just mentioned, it such a travesty that Hemp was banned to make way for cotton.... COTTON?!?! Jesus. Don't get me started haha.

Anyways Doc, learned a lot about your character today. You're an awesome guy, thanks for taking the time to entertain my questions.
