DobeWan's First Grow! LA Confidential & 24K Gold - LED - 3x3 - Coco

You get your ph issues in check bro?

Haven't made a run out yet to see what I can find. But I did like So suggested, put the amount I usually pH down with in and measured and hoped for the best. I'm sure I'm in the right ballpark. If I can't find anything today I'll do the same again and get a new pen tomorrow. I think I might bite the bullet and get a Bluelab pen.

I didn't get time to get an RO system and get it installed either - but I'll do some shopping today I think. Young kids and having free time during the day can be mutually exclusive sometimes.

One of the reasons I like cloning so much is that you don't have to wait for them to mature before flower. As soon as they root, you can flower them. Gives you a lot more control over the timing and size.

That's a good point - I could put those tall but not wide 24K clones into the space next to the Chocolope any time really and get something off of them. That'll be the fall back if I don't come up with better plans I guess.

I'm trying to figure out a plan that includes starting an autoflower now! If I do, I'll mess up timing in the perpetual - but I'll get something flowered before it's even time to flip something into the flower tent.

BlueLab is awesome. Can't afford it. Lol. I use the ph liquid test. Never failed me.

My pen was ~$20 from Amazon IIRC? Figured I could replace it 4 times before justifying a Bluelab. At this rate, a Bluelab would need to last about a year and a half to make it worthwhile. They have a 5 year warranty on the pen itself so it seems like a good call.

I've spent so much on all this stuff... I keep going back to, "I'd have spent it all on weed eventually anyway".

My 24Ks aren't far off. I'm asking for tips in some other threads but I think they're going to start flush in the next week roughly. I want balanced effects and I'm at about 50/50 or 75/25 milky to clear.

Interestingly I noticed swelling calyxes more in #1 than in #2 last night. Maybe #1 is going to finish slightly earlier? I'm convinced they're the same pheno so didn't expect them to have any differences as they finish.

Sorry Dobe, I had no idea you had a journal going .
I have some reading to do and I'll be up on your next venture! .

No worries bro, I found yours way too late as well. Happy to have you join for the rest of this ride and whatever comes next. I've been thinking about it this weekend, and I'm leaning towards a perpetual thread with 1 big weekly update and a photo here and there throughout the week. Might even start it up soon to keep things focused on finishing my first grow in here.

It was my first journal, it's so nice to look back and see what I could do different now. Before I was always so paranoid of the law, but now that I'm legal I can share discretely at least. Looking over everyone else's grows has sure been a help. I've picked up on so many tips and tricks.
I don't have many friends either so it occupies my mind here, great folks.
It's funny, when I lost my ability to get around my friends disappeared, nobody wants to hang around a cripple I guess.
Anyway enough whining it is what it is.
Cheers man and happy growing .

I hear you Suntana. I really lost touch with most of my friends as my stomach issues started to run my life. This is my first grow for the same reasons as your previous discretion - didn't want to operate outside the law but when the opportunity came to go legal I grabbed it. Still nervous about oversharing as like Canada Guy said, I still operate on the no tell / smell / sell principle. There's still a need to keep this private because of the stigma associated with it. I get so excited and passionate about this stuff, it's nice to have others who feel the same way to compare notes and experiences with. And as I came in as a blank slate I've learned a ton from watching everyone else. Some of the folks on this site have serious skills. It's no wonder certain techniques and approaches spread among active growers.

56F, so 8 weeks are behind me and I'm entering week 9. The LA Confidentials are coming down next week, exact day TBD. But I wanted to show the 24Ks quickly tonight.

I've been surprised in the last few days to see the path of the 24Ks diverging after they'd mirrored one another in all but size. Small genetic differences within the phenotype I guess? I snapped a few quick shots of the 2 24Ks under white light tonight right before lights on to illustrate the differences.

24K Gold 1 hasn't taken on as much of the red colouration on her leaves. But interestingly her calyxes have swollen noticeably over 24K2's, leading me to believe she might be closer to done.

Starting with a quick illustration of the bud size - what's at the top of the canopy is fairly close in size.

I tried to get a few examples to show how uniformly the buds appear more swollen.

24K Gold 2 has taken on far more red coloration, and a paler green. She has a noticeably less swollen look in her calyxes. Again I tried to take a few similar examples so you can see how much less swollen she looks.

Not sure if the differences are as clear in the photos as they are in person. This distinction has really shown up in the last couple of days. Maybe 24K1 is going to be ready a couple of days earlier? In any case, I'm getting antsy to start flushing. I think I will before the end of the week.

I only wish LA2 looked half as photogenic. What of her leaves wasn't ravaged by my deficiency issue is a really deep purple / black. Hopefully the clone I just put into flower will stay healthy and be nice to show off in about 8 weeks time.

Got myself a brand new Bluelab pen today. Funny how happy I am about spending north of $100 on a pen - but it's such a critical part of the arsenal.

My friend from the hydro shop also talked me out of buying a RO system. Basically his view was the same a few of you have mentioned - how my PPM and pH from the tap are totally reasonable, and how even if my water swings from 5.8 up to 6.1 after a couple of days I shouldn't sweat it too much since I'd still be in the ideal hydro / coco window.

After two nights of guesswork plain water I'll be happy to feed properly pHed nutes tonight - at least to those that aren't getting flushes of course. The flushed LAs are now through a week of plain water, tonight will mark their 8th night of flush. LA1 looked about ready last night - she'll be the first to come down, likely tomorrow or Wednesday. Might give LA2 another day or two beyond to see if she has any tricks up her sleeve - her buds are so small relative to even LA1.

Because of my pH issues both 24Ks got plain water the last 2 nights. I'm tempted to just make this the start of flush. They're at 57F and I don't see them making it past 70F - Feral got a fairly couchlock high at 70F and my trichomes are quickly getting uniformly milky, so I think 70F would be as late as I'd want to go. I don't want couchlock from this - I want a balanced hybrid.
