Love those swollen calyxes Mr Krip
You're right, the density of the buds will tell the tale, but even worst case is looking really damn good
The flush followed by slow dry and cure will do wonders for the quality & smoothness of the smoke. If it's still harsh after that you can still WC but I'll bet it will be great.
I was checking out flavor extracts in the grocery aisle the other day, I'm going to look online because the only ones they had that caught my eye were vanilla, orange & lemon. I want something like pineapple , grape and mango.
Here's something I've been thinking about lately... remember that vid where the hippy chick chops the plant and sticks it in the vase and it drinks like crazy for a few days?
I have clones so I'm going to try that on a few of them with various flavors added after the chop.
However you my friend, if you were interested in trying something like that, could do it with a side bud. Just cut the branch at the stem and put it in flavored water, like a cut flower which is exactly what it is!
Not overpowering but like a hint of orange. I think it would be cool, I can't think of any downside can you? That's exactly the technique described in the curing thread except he did it right before the chop, and I'll bet you anything it would work just as well after. Then I can tell my friends I have all these crazy new strains like acapulco grape haha.
Take care bro
Blue, I do remember the hippie chick putting her colas in a vase to drink before she dried them.
Here's a couple more flavoring tips:
1) Grotek has a final flush product called "Tootie Fruity" that's a final flush solution that's supposed to add flavor. In the ad I saw, they have Pina Colada, Blueberry, and Strawberry flavored solutions. See: GroTek's Final Flush
2) I had read a thread on the best way to add flavor to bud and what was recommended was to take ANY fruit you'd like to use for flavoring and basically cut it into small pieces and dehydrate it. The dehydration is important because it will help prevent mold from forming on the buds. Take some of the dehydrated fruit and wrap it in a piece of cheesecloth. Then, during the curing process, close the lid of the mason jar on one of the edges of the cheesecloth, so the fruit bundle is suspended on the inside of the jar, hanging from the lid, and NOT touching the buds (again, to prevent mold). The flavor of the dried fruit is supposed to become infused into the buds. Replace the fruit every 5 days or so to keep adding more flavor.
I may try flavoring some buds on a future grow, but on this first one, I really wanted to get the flavor "au natural". But, your point about being able to do it to only one or two colas (or one mason jar of buds) is a good one, so perhaps I'll consider it for this grow and make some "Banana Afghana"!
