DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

I agree with Hemp, the only other thing I would add to that is that seed co.'s ussually under-estimate their seeds flowering times by about a week or so. So I would try to figure in a little extra time on your estimate. If I had listened to the estimates, I would have lost a ton of bulk in the the last week or so, very important, IMO.

NEP, yeah, the seed co's do base their estimates on ideal conditions and are agressive at best, but I believe I already have an extra week factored into the equation.

Just check the trichs if you have a microscope Mr Krip. :)

Radio Shack has a nice one for $20.00.

You will be sure then! :)

Just my two cents worth. :)

OMM, Thanks. I understand this and already have ordered a microscope. Here was the original issue:

Thanks, Hemp! I'm certainly not going to rush it, so if the plants aren't ready, neither am I! :)

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to tell when they're ready from the trich's. I just don't think I'll know when it's three weeks before they're ready, and that's when I need to change my nutes! :)

I guess, I could always flush longer, if needed, but according to AN, I'm supposed to start the Overdrive two weeks before the flush.

So, think I should change this weekend, or wait another week or so before changing nutes? Or, would you rather wait until Friday and see what they look like then before you answer? :tokin:

So, I'll know by the trich's when they're ready, but I need to take some action 3 weeks BEFORE they're ready. :)

Then the question becomes what do you think color/state of trichs will be 3 weeks prior? IMO I would think 3 weeks would be just as 50% of trichs are clouding; just my $0.02 worth! Hope it helps, I have waited to post to see if anyone could get more specific for you or not.:smokin:

Ok cool, just figured I wold throw that in. Good luck

Thanks, NEP, I do appreciate it, and it wasn't always clear to me that when they say "56 days flowering time" that's NOT 56 days of 12/12, but 56 days from when they start flowering. They also usually estimate agressively, I believe, to lead growers into thinking there's a quicker turn-around time. I guess it's some sort of profit thing they got going, or something? :tokin:

Thanks, H! That does help. My biggest concern is that looking at the current size of the buds, they just won't be fully developed in three weeks, or so. Or, if they are ready then (according to the trichs), I don't know how they'll pack on any weight.

I do know that a lot of the weight is put on in the last couple of weeks, but these buds need to grow by something like 5x or more and after all this work, I'd hate to end up with nothing but "popcorn".

The plants all appear healthy, but I am starting to wonder about the effectiveness of this LED in flower. Of course, I could just be getting anxious! :)

I appreciate the help!
:thanks:

Exactly!

Dont worry, they should fill in quite a bit in the next 3 weeks or so.

Agreed NEP, last 3 weeks most bulk up & overdrive is going to do what you are looking for it to do to them K~ that last 3 weeks. Trust me your my favorite turd, I would never shit you! LMAO! No I know it is very worrisome when your get to this stage, you want yeild but don't want to go too far into over ripe! Relax, trust the science & start when 50% trichs are cloudy! Trust me my friend the plant never lies.:goodluck:

Thanks, Bro! I feel better already. Except for when you said I was a turd, that made me feel like crap!!!

I wasn't that worried, since I have you & everyone else looking after me. I figured someone would have said something if they thought there was anything I needed to worry about, I just don't know how those little buds will develop into the 20lb monster colas I'm expecting to harvest! :)

:thanks:

I don't think you have to be spot on. I think if you count 3 weeks from this weekend, you will be pretty close, give or take a couple days. Hope this helps.

This is only my opinion, but:

Just estimate it like Hemp is saying, and use that as your guide. In a couple of weeks, start looking at your trichomes and switch to your clearing/flush regimen once you are satisfied that the trich's are getting close to where you want them. I've landed on a 7-10 days as my goal for flushing, but it's really tough to tell when they are going to ripen up very far in advance (for me anyway), so I have to "punt" frequently with this.

Wait 'til it's just about where you want it, trich-wise, and then start your flush regimen. In the end, even if you only get a few days of flushing, so be it. I absolutely guarantee you your buds will still be super yummy as long as they are dried and cured properly afterwards. How often do you get a guarantee like that? I've had really tasty bud that was hardly flushed at all, and there are people that think flushing is over-rated to begin with. Make your best guesses, and it WILL work out fine. Like I said - guaranteed!

Oh, and they will bulk up more in the next few weeks, but I'm a little uncertain if the LED will ultimately give you the bulk you want - you'll have to decide that in the end.

Good luck my friend!

:)

XLR8, thanks. I'm OK with judging when to harvest based on trich's and OK on being able to adjust when to flush and for how long. With Clearex, you can flush in as little as three days, although, I do plan on flushing for a full week.

Really, the one question I was trying to answer was the best way to gauge when I'm TWO weeks before the week of flush, or basically THREE weeks before harvest.

This is because I'm supposed to change my nutes TWO weeks before the week of flush. I didn't know how to gauge this and was only concerned that I would end up messing up the nute program.

That being said, I LOVE your guarantee!!! :slide:

And, I appreciate the good vibes on the bulk. Of course I was joking (only a little!) on the 20lb colas, but my original goal was to be able to get 2-4oz of QUALITY meds per harvest (personal use only) in my 2'x2' cab.

For my first harvest, I'd be happy with good quality and less of a yield, assuming I had healthy/normal looking plants and didn't screw it up entirely.

I've been fortunate to have some good "friends with connections" and only get high quality buds. In fact, I haven't even seen a bag seed in something like 15 years! :grinjoint:

With the number of bud sites I have, if these plants continue to develop, I can't imagine I won't get at least 2 oz (I could be wrong - I've never harvested!).

Hopefully, it will all come together (quality and quantity!) over the next few weeks.

I really appreciate everyone's help & input!

Hey Krip... I say sit back and enjoy the show. From what I've gleaned, keeping a close eye on things and letting the plants tell you where they're going will serve them, and in turn you best. Never could see how anything in nature could be as closely scripted as anyone would like them to be. My thoughts are that those lovely buds are going to pour on weight like a twinkie addict! :thumb:

Thanks, WnF! As long as we're gonna sit back & enjoy the show...let's get the show rolling!

Pics coming! :)

(btw... on your twinkie addict comment!)

QUICK UPDATE WITH LOTS OF PICS

Quick update today, but lots of pics coming. One of the exciting things to report, outside the growroom, is that I just picked up a GREAT deal on some bubblebags that were used once, but are basically in brand new condition. It's only a one gallon size, but that should be plenty for me, since you can run much more than a gallon of water through them - just by not using, or draining, the bucket. Best of all, it's an 8-bag kit, which sells for over $150 and I picked it up for $45! :slide:

Sometime next week, I hope to reveal my low cost solution for a bubble machine! :grinjoint:

OK...so, for the plants....

Hopefully they all turn out great and only the trimmings end up in the bags! :)

I thought it would be worth taking a look at the PE and the haze, which have now both been vegging for over a month and just begging to be put in flower.

Here's the PE:

And a top-view:

And check out this Royal Haze - Bushy as hell!:

And her canopy:

On the flower side, many of those little white hairs that we've had for the last few weeks are starting to look like more than just hairs and STARTING to resemble actual buds.

I put in a lot of bud shots tonight so you all can keep making me feel optimistic about harvesting in 4 weeks! :)

Enjoy & thanks again for all the help!

Krip looking awesome man, :goodjob:

What day flowering are you on? I think you're only a week or two ahead of me by the looks of it. Liking that Snow Storm? I know I'm a fan.

Hey Chrgrsfan you said earlier you are using Sweet and like it? Did you have previous grows w/o it? I am using all Botanicare products but have not grabbed the Sweet yet. Any feedback you have on your experience with it is appreciated.

Tonight will mark the 40th night of 12/12 for the AK, which really is where all the bud shots are from. The waterfarm haze (in flower) is only two days behind, but takes much longer to develop (gotta love sativas!). So, as long as you don't tell me you've been in 12/12 for 10 days or something, I won't feel too bad! :)

So far, I am liking the Snow Storm Ultra, but that's really just personal at this point and I really don't have any good data to back it up. I suspect it's helping, but not doing any type of controlled test. I did give the plants a second treatment yesterday, even though it says to foliar weekly. I figured since they're 5 weeks into flower and had only had one foliar, I could get away with a second one this week. :tokin:

IMO Sweet is a fantastic product! Keeps stress down to a minimum & imparts a nice sweetness to things. Alas no "Berry Taste". But we can't get everything, can we?.
