DIY, First Grow, Northern Lights Auto Flower

Thanks farside05. I measure ph of water prior to feed and ph of the run off. Picture is the run off measuring at about 5.8-6 so maybe I’ll try to bump it up a bit. When I look at the chart it makes sense to go up a bit. Cal-mag looks like it would uptake better at a 6.5. Going up more doesn’t look like it will hurt much.

The lights are at about 15” but I just lowered them a few days ago but I’ll back them up a little bit.

Thanks again.

You are adjusting the pH after you add your nutrients correct?

Most fertilizers are acidic, so if you start with water at 6 and then add fertilizer on top of that, the resulting mix will be even lower. Always adjust pH after you have added your fertilizer. I wouldn't worry too much about runoff, just correct what goes in from this point forward. If your plants were looking bad then I'd say check runoff but they are still looking pretty heathy. You haven't gone so far as to cause a big problem yet.

Sounds good. I’ve been told it’s good to check the run off in the event the soil becomes acidic. First grow ever and I’m learning lots. Just trying to be sure to cover all my bases.

I’m happy with the water coming out consistently at a 5.8-6 so I’ll just check after I mix nutrients in from now on, and adjust accordingly.

Thanks, farside05

Just fed the NL1 and NL2. Ph of nutrient/water mixed was 6.2-6.3. Total volume of mixture was 4.5 liters. Some training start on both plants but mostly with NL2. Might be a bit early as things are quite crowded. Lights are at 14 inches. Temperature is steady 24.5c and RH is hovering around 45-55. Bumped up nutes this week as per BudLabs app but this pushed my ppm of the mix up to 900-1000. Also still adding 4ml of CalMag, which is not listed in the BudLabs app.

This is some what the goal for NL1 and NL2. The hope is that we can get them to fan up the side of the grow box. We probably won’t limit its upward growth much as it reaches out of the pot and to the wall.

So update.

I’ve tried to take all advice in the consideration. My plan is to not make too much of an aggressive adjustment in feed. Might be risky and I should’ve flushed but in the past 24hrs I haven’t seen them get any worse, if anything they are getting better.

The last feed was a higher and probably a little less water than usual. The nutrient schedule was a higher concentration as well. The nutrient mixture was 1000ppm with a Ph 6.2-6.3 in 4.5 liters of water.

The most recent feed was more water and ph was a little lower. 600ppm and probably around 6 liters of water with ph at 6.0-6.1.

I also gave them about 24hrs without any low stress training. My Hope here is to let them stretch a little and get a few of the lower tightly packed growth off of the soil. Some leaves that are way underneath were very close if not in the grow medium. No light and wet, not good. I used wires running straight across the pot to lift them off the bottom and get better air flow beneath the plant.

NL2 looks to be starting to flower soon. It’s hard to tell from the pictures but they have jumped up almost two inches so I’ve started some low stress training again.

Flushed today. Has to be a bit of nutrient burn at the bottom of NL2. I’ll post some close up of the bottom leaves later but they are quite low and tough to see.

Majority of the plant is coming along great.

Cut them loose.

Hard to tell because they are so thick but we’ve cut them loose. No more wires, trained NL1 to the left and NL2 to the right.

Nutrient Burn. Tell me if I’m mistaken, new grower.

This is the one and only leaf that was low in the pot and may have gotten wet with feeding and/or being too close to the grow medium.

This is NL2 with the neutrient burn low on the plant.

@farside05 I was reading “Easiest Nute Program Ever: Brooklyn Sunrise & Blue Dream'matic Autos” of yours and noticed you defoliated at 27days and even removed a few leaves to let light in down low earlier in the grow. Looking at my plants they seem crowded. Do you think I should clean them up a bit or let them stretch some more?
