I don't know if you were asking me, but I'll try to answer.
I usually water a #3 pot every 3 days with a little over a quart of water. A #7 pot every other day with a half gallon water. Those are for established plants that are about a month+ of veg and i get little to no run off(IN COCO not soil). For seedlings in a #1 pot maybe a couple cups but in stages. I try not to get much run off because I don't like to clean it up (I'm a lazy grower). Flushing is something I don't do just for fun. There needs to be a reason when I decide to flush. Like bad ph levels, burnt tips from nutes bieng too hot.... maybe sometimes when I switch from grow to bloom nutes, but that's about it. If my ppm's get to hot on the run off, I just give plain water for a while till the numbers come down then continue feeding. I'm not saying what I do is the right way, just that it's the way I do it.
Training- I'm a firm believer in FIM and Topping. Top first, then start fimming when the tops are available. Then use tie downs to spread the branches apart. Works real good, but got to be careful as you will want to get so many tops and if your pot isn't big enough to support the root mass you will have all kinds of problems in flower. Hope some of this helped. Also, check my Scrogco journal and see what I did there. Took about a month of training, but should hit 1 gram per watt when it all comes down. Just be patient and use this time to learn from people. And definitely learn from others mistakes... because you will make some along the way, and then you will know how to handle them. I still make mistakes and I learn something new every day.

Edit- see now it wasn't asked to me...
