Dennise - No Longer The Newest Of Newbies - Not Growing In MG - Perpetual

I knew with the girls in flower the low humidity is good. It is a very old house and for some reason in the closet the humidity has been too high and I finally had to buy a dehumidifier and it has worked wonderfully but the cabinet and box have run almost perfectly without any manipulation but I thought in veg they needed more humidity. I did figure that low was better than high in any situation other than cloning and trying for roots so I have made sure the clones are under a dome and I am misting them several times a day. Hopefully they will all survive this cold snap and I hope also that it is only a temp. thing. It usually doesn't snow like this here until March or so and never last this long.. Oh well guess I will make some cannbutter ginger snaps and curl up on the couch for the day.........:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

it's really cold here too and my girl is in the basement with the lights off. she must be cold :/

Oh I don't think so Notorious.:thedoubletake: I know I am blessed with TVA and if you live where I think you do I have heard the utilities are unbelievable. I actually got the highest bill I have ever had here just this last month and is was $143 and it wouldn't have been that high if I hadn't been to lazy to tote wood in for a couple of weeks and the heat pump ran all night. :straightface:My better 3/4 cuts wood every time he is home (it's something he actually likes to do and a friend is clearing land) and before he leaves out always loads the house and stacks a row next to the front porch and I had used it all and for this reason and that reason didn't tote any more up to the house but after I got that bill I have been toting wood every day. So glad he will be back tomorrow.......:circle-of-love:

Dennise,

For the future reference, the best heater to use for this purpose is an oil filled space heater. They look a little like old fashioned radiators in houses, but smaller. The element heats up and stays hot all the time. There are no exposed coils or infra red to deal with. No hot spots in the room. I am using one in my greenhouse right now. I have a 10x20 footer, and inside of that, another smaller greenhouse to protect tenders. In that smaller one I put the heater and it has been in the teens at night, while the house stayed above 60. In the spring they go on clearance sale at Walmart or wherever they are sold. If you ever see one that works at Goodwill, buy it!

:ciao: Garden... Actually out in the barn I have one but that is one of those things that takes the Big Guy being home to get to. Ain't no way this blonde is going digging in the barn storage.........:battingeyelashes: Thanks for mentioning it though cause I would have never remembered it. :tokin: It has been a while since I have used it but will certainly ask him to get it out of there for me and check to see if it is still in good shape...

Radiators and ceramics are definitely the safest but if I was heating my greenhouse I'd burn propane as it produces a really nice level of co2 for the plants but you'd want a safe and professional heater. I actually live in north eastern u.s. I don't know how rates compare but i know grow house's ain't cheap! The basement that houses My journal is a two story house and has 2 rooms used for out favorite past time (plus cellar) and the bill is usually between 500-650$.

I would pass out if I ever got a utility bill like that. :thedoubletake::thedoubletake::thedoubletake: If you added up every bill to maintain my home each month it would not be that much... Dude I am so sorry.... Nobody should have to pay that kind of utility bill just to stay warm and keep the lights on.. My better 3/4 is originally from upstate NY and I know I don't want to pay the utility bills I have seen come into his family home.... Man!! I did think you lived across the pond for some reason tho and I think it is even more there. It's crazy....:passitleft:.

I think the big part of the bill is the two rooms going

Yah, I don't even live there.. I asked for it by having this hobby luckily Its it's one that's pays for itself constantly. I didn't think that it was that bad..haha. I guess I'm not sensitive to it anymore. Lights fans extraction heat humidity it takes a lot and I'm not a big producer. I can't imagine some of the other people on here..

I can't really answer that question about what they are costing me as far as utilities because of all the reasons I listed above for this months bill being higher. Part of that increase is most certainly the lights I'm sure but there are so many other major factors in this months bill that I couldn't even guess what percentage of it is the lights but there is no way it was more than $50 and I doubt it was that much of the bill but I will be able to tell a lot better this next bill as I am being much more diligent about making sure the wood stove is going and I switched out the heaters which will make a major difference and I bet the little one I was using is the biggest part of the increase of my bill. The eden-pure is very most definitely cost effect to run... Sorry I am rambling again........

what Led are you running?
Hi slogro :welcome: I have 2 Top Led 48x3w and a 96x3w both reflectors. I use the 96x3w in the closet and the 2 little ones in the cabinet and I can't say enough about them. They make my life much easier and my girls love them. If your thinking of going LED I highly suggest you check out Top Leds.......:circle-of-love:

Ok You guys remember some time back we were talking about ways to clone and someone, can't remember who, was talking about cloning while still attached to the mother... Well I didn't want to do it to one of my girls for obvious reasons but I have this little plant in my kitchen window that I have had for years and it never gets bigger but blooms a couple of times a year but it's branches lay low and I thought it would be a perfect way to check this theory and it definitely works. I hope I don't get in trouble for posting a pic that is not MJ but it is for MJ growing purpose. I can only assume that if it works on this plant it will work on MJ and this couldn't have been easier. I just took a new razor blade and cut tiny little slashes in the stem and laid it down where it would touch the soil. I didn't bury it at all it was just touching the soil and here ya go..........
