Dennise - No Longer The Newest Of Newbies - Not Growing In MG - Perpetual

Hey Dee, do a google search for a USDA Agricultural Zone Map. Find where you are on the map and look to see what zone you are located in. My zone is 8b and I wouldn't even consider planting out into soil anytime soon. The soil is way too cold for cannabis, too wet, and the air is still too cold. I will not plant in the ground until the night temps have been steadily in the 60s, with day temps in the 80s to warm the soil bed. That goes for any plant, truth be told. Cannabis is as tender as tomatoes, so I use that to gauge when to plant out. I do have tomatoes growing, but in the greenhouse. Of course covered in aphids. Today me and Mika (my parrot) are going to the store to buy some ladybugs. The end!

Have a great day! Hot bath, a doob, and life is good.

Ive posted some homemade pest remedies in my blog as well. The ladybugs will work though used them with moderate success in my first grow.

Just defoliate evenly dont do it all at once and not just one side and you're all set

Hey Dennise :ciao:

Hope you're feeling better today.

The "My Photos" tab issue I think has been fixed now. So well done 420.

Wishing everyone a green and pleasant day. :circle-of-love:
Thanks Brassic... actually having a poor pitiful me morning but am trying to get over it. My fella will be home in a few hours for a day or 2 so that will make everything better. I put an OG Kush seed to germinate last night so am going to concentrate on having a new baby.....:circle-of-love:
Best budulating bushes to ya Dennise :)

Morning GreenSun... Wish you would get in touch about one of your lights.... I think I could be persuaded to try it with the right inspiration....:circle-of-love:

I won't put a MJ plant out that soon :thedoubletake: I was more referring to my lavander and such. I germinate them inside and can put them out about the 1st or 2nd week of april but yes it would be at least may before I could even think about putting one of the girls out there. If I said something different I just mistyped. Most of my flowers I start in the house and plant in the beds after they are started and I guess I even started in the beds earlier than I usually do but the last 2 years I was in the hospital and obviously this spring is starting with a bang and I want my yard pretty at least one more time so I figured if I got my beds ready if something happened and I was sick and couldn't do it my fella will plant them for me just won't ask him to do it after my beds had not been tended to in almost 3 years so at least they are all ready to go and my lavender is germinating and my daffodils are blooming and my tulips are starting to come up and even the hibiscus are starting to have blooms but it is supposed to start snowing tonight and we are supposed to get about an inch. Yippie.. NOT! Any who time to go abuse the Clone family 3 and strip em' on down..........:circle-of-love:

High Smoker...:passitleft:....:circle-of-love:
I have heard that people like to defoliate on the 21st day of flower, but I have defoliated at different times during flower with no bad results. Just a light to medium defoliation.

Anyone else?:thumb:
I was actually talking about in veg. Again if I typed something else my bad but if they are in bloom it is the 21-25 day and then again on the 45th day but I didn't know if there was any set times in veg that it should be done. My cabinet girls are getting huge and out of control and I can keep them bent and short but the are so thick I am worried about air flow but don't want to hurt them. Soooo if anyone knows if there is a specific time in veg to defol please let me know......:circle-of-love:

Thanks Smoker do you know if there is a specific time during veg it should be done?.....:circle-of-love:

Nope but I wait until preflowering or transition period is over so in other words weeks 3 or 4 are the best.

Oh for veg(my mistake used to being asked about flowering) Id say to wait until your plants show the 2 pistils that form a v. Usually around nodes 4-7

Yes start down low and work up because thats how light penetration works. Once you get used to your grows the faster you cut out the foliage the better for the plant so it doesnt waste energy making big leaves and trying to make new branches that you know wont reach the canopy. Less popcorn buds that way.

I was planning to defoliate to increase yield but seeing as it's my first grow I figured I should learn how the plants grows naturally first (says the guy who has already topped and fimmed twice haha)

Good luck with the trimming!

OK I know you can defol in veg too but is there a specific time it should be done and how completely naked should they be? Anybody???..............:circle-of-love:

When I defoliate I remove any lower growth that will not produce anything except for popcorn bud and any leaves that shade a bud site. I start by removing the large fan leaves to open up the bud sites and nodes to the light and leave 4 fan leaves max at the growing tips of the bud sites and branches. Bassman59 defoliates and has excellent harvests. Here is a guide Bassman59 created.

Increasing yield with defoliation indoors - What's it mean? How to do it?

Re: Dennise, Newest of Newbies growing in MG in the closet with LED bulbs and CFL's

:welcome: welcome to my crazy world Amy!!! I have no idea why the colors look different in one photo vs the next other than my camera is too fancy for my brain and I just put it on simple mode (matching my brain) and it does all kinda stupid things. If you will notice the pics before the panel they are always a different green and they have always been luscious and green. I also have no idea what the ratio of the red diodes are. 2 of them are not working and I have contacted TopLed and am waiting to hear back from Sara. I would go count for ya but it hurts my eyes to look at it and the door is only open when the panel is on..........:circle-of-love:

Thanks ,some Color hard judge by human eye like uv IR.

I have started to do just as KingJohn says and remove leaves that are blocking bud sites and branches that are never going to make it to the top of the canopy. I have always done it later on in flower and I see how well it works for many on here so I am giving it a go. Treading lightly on them though.

Happy day,

Bob ;)
