DC's First Indoor Multi-Strain

Day 54

Nothing left to complain about! Thanks for putting up with with me guys! Fed the girls last night, pots were nice and light and dry. They drank just over a gallon each to about 5 percent runoff. Nothing crazy added I promise! I readjusted a few ties on blue dream and called it a night. Both TO Cookies are getting pretty big and wide and growth tips are starting to emerge off of all the shoots so they are pretty bushy now.

Today they were on 18/6 for the first time, poked in and everyone is growing nicely. Blue dream put on enough length in a day the ties had to be adjusted again which is very unlike her. I'll just keep doing the same until next weekend. I could flip at anytime for the Cookies but I'd like to see the Blue Dream get a little more spread. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Soooo I kind of did a good defoliation last night....I know I was supposed to leave them alone but they were getting too bushy!

I was a little worried I went a tad overboard, you can really get into the zone, especially on the blue dream but I was really fed up with her being a little interwoven bush. Turns out it seems to be exactly what she needed. A day later and they appear to have agreed they needed a hair cut and didn't even skip a beat.

I also took some lower shoots that were not gonna make it to the canopy and decided to try cloning just for the experience and hell of it, I have another tent a buddy gave me I can throw them in if they take.

I now see why it is suggested to only run the 3rd and 4th shoot on quadline, me wimping out and leaving the 2nd node shoots has produced more shoots than there is space and wasted energy producing them. I couldn't find a home for every single shoot, but I'm starting to learn how to shape the plants and how they grow.

They are all coming along nicely, fed them yesterday, probably a day late or so as they were bone dry. Still seeing some yellowing and the brownish beige spots unfortunately. It doesn't seem to be affecting them too much but something I'd like to try to at least identify the cause of. They grew 4" or so on me in the last couple days and I didn't raise the light so it may be some light burn? It's back up to 30" now from the highest shoot.

Other than that I've been feeding pretty low dosages at per gallon:
3ml micro
3ml grow
3ml bloom
5ml calmag
PPM of my tap water was 170, after mixing nutrients 600 to 700ppm range.
PH of feed has been 6 to 6.2.

I can't really say if the issues are more on lower or older growth or top growth in particular seems to be random although yellow tips are exclusively on the top growth, the shoots that were shadowed or under the canopy do not have it which kind of makes me think the light burn. It is a pretty strong unit! The slightly smaller TO2 is pretty minor and possibly just pre existing but the larger TO1 seems to have a few more since I last checked a week ago. Blue Dream, while significantly smaller, isn't showing anything but a nice green and playing catchup.

Here's some pics, like I said overall they look good and a growing well so I'm not overly concerned but I am planning to flip to flower after a few more inches of growth.

Well, if they were in the light it could be light burn, but a couple with brown spots seem kinda low down for that. Both P and K toxicity can cause those burns too. Also they seem kind of pale, though that may just be in the pics. If they are pale, excess K can block nitrogen uptake.

I'd give it a few days and see if it progresses. I like to take off any suspect leaves to make it easier to see what's new.

That variegated leaf is cool though.

I thought about taking them all off. I'll do that tomorrow then keep an eye out. I think my basement light makes them look worse than they are. I'll get some pics in decent lighting.

Day 1 of Flower

Last night I flipped the timer to 12/12 for today and cleaned them up by plucking off some large and yellow fans and anything shading a bud site, followed by a 3 gallon feed with RO water and 700ppm of nutrients. I meant to feed them earlier but I had a super busy weekend and didn't get to it as early as I wouldve liked and they were pretty dry. I'll be trying to water every time the first inch of soil feels dry from here on. The roots feel like they have filled most of the bag when I poke around so now I just need to keep them fed and happy.

It's getting colder and I noticed the temp drop to a low of 15 on my meter so I found a little heating fan I put at my intake that brought it up to 24 to 26. Unfortunately it dropped the RH to 35% so I put a timer on it to only run during lights out and a wet towel in front of a fan which brought me back to 45%.

I noticed a couple very tiny bugs zipping around in the tent. I have no idea what fungus gnats look like or have ever dealt with pests before so I'm not sure what they were I couldn't catch any. Anyone have a recommendation if I should get a preventative measure in hand or just keep an eye out? I know having good air circulation is key so Ill pop another clip on fan for above canopy.

Only two pics of the Blue Dream in natural lighting sorry I got into the zone clipping leaves after smoking a little green crack and forgot to take more. The Toronto Cookies are a little paler green but not much, my QB light makes them look a lot paler than they actually are. Now that most of the yellow leaves are gone I should be able to clearly see if it continues or is corrected.

Oh ya! The clones look good still nice a green, I've been taking the domes off everyday for a bit to give them fresh air and then spraying the insides to keep them moist. I'll continue to increase the time the domes are off until I setup my other tent with a humidifier and my old no name LED that didn't break going and we'll see how they do! It is too dry in this tent for them without the domes.

Get some yellow sticky traps, put a few near the soil, and put a few above near the tops of your plants. The sticky traps will catch those buggers. Biggest thing I got out of this all, is you said your going to water when ever it’s dry an inch down. Well gnats become a problem when your substrate is too wet. They thrive in those conditions. Their larva grows in wet soil, and they often appear when the topsoil stays wet for too long between waterings. Keep that in mind bro!

Plants are looking real good though! Congrats on the 12/12 party! :thumb:

Up and up, they blew up overnight everyone is reaching and growing! This may be the best they've ever looked. I'll get some sticky traps tonight, I'll be setting up my second tent and getting the ventilation for this one setup to go out the window now that they will be building some stanky flowers!

Day 3 of Flower

Hey guys everything is looking great! I got my buddy's tent setup and we'll.. It's alot bigger than I expected! The girls are now very comfortably sitting in a 5x5 beauty with lots of space to work around.

Onto the Cloning front I moved them into the old 3x3 with a heating pad and a humidifier with my old 300w LED. Two are looking kinda sad so well see how they do but the other two are reaching up and looking pretty damn good! Not bad for a fly by night no rooting powder into the pot Cloning run lol. Ill probably pop a few green crack seeds in a couple weeks and keep the two best clones to start my perpetual setup!

The only drawback to the big tent is that temps are a little low at around 20 celsius and humidity down due to the big space so I might put another humidifier in there.
Is 35 to 40% RH an issue for flower or should I just rock on?

They are starting to drink more, getting light and dry every 3 days maybe less if I want to keep them fed. No signs of any further leaf stress and they are starting their Flowering stretch and looking real nice!! The nodes are stacking very tight, almost too tight right on top of each other on a couple branching. I'm not experienced enough to know but I'm assuming they will stretch out some now well see! Should have some solid buds forming soon either way!

New home for the girls:

I thought I'd throw a little tidbit in about how I ventilated out my basement window. For 5 bucks of flex duct, 8 dollar slab of insulated subfloor and a 10 dollar dryer fluent cover to keep bugs out I fabled up a pretty good looking unit. I have seasonal allergies and I think exhausting the tent into the house was starting to bug me a bit so this should help!

Nice ductwork! The flowering plants look great and I'm sure that new bigger tent got set up just in time :thumb: .

If they are fungus gnats flying around, get the new fan down at soil level and let it blow right across the top of the pot. That should help along with the sticky traps. If they get serious, there are other easy options as well, like adding gnat nix to your nute water.

On the clones, I'm thinking you might try just having the domes tipped back a bit all day, and not spraying them any more. They need to be trying to get their moisture from below the soil rather than through the leaves.
